  1. Wondering if anyone can shed some light or share their experiences on an LPR applying for CR1 and then upgrading their petition once they become a citizen?

My fiance and I are planning on getting married in the US and going the CR1 route. He is currently in the process of becoming a citizen. We were wondering what the wait time/delay would be if we were to apply for CR1 while his citizenship status is still pending, versus applying for CR1 once he is a citizen?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks :)

has to fill out same docs and forms as if he were a US citizen, once he gets the certification at the ceremony then he call to the Homeland Services ask for an upgrade and mail a copy of the certificate that he will get. That is all.

well, that sounds good to me! Thanks for the help! :)

  3. Hi! I'm new here and trying to soak up as much information as possible.

I am currently trying to decide which Visa I should apply for. I live in Montreal, Canada and my fiance lives in California.

I would like to go with the option that will allow me entry into the US the quickest, but I'm somewhat lost.

My fiance is a Mexican citizen but has been in the US as a legal permanent resident since he was 6 months old. He is currently processing his application for naturalization. Once he receives citizenship, which can take up to 7 or so months, we can either a) file for fiance visa - with an extra 6 + month wait before I can enter the US. Or B) marry in Canada and go the K3 route.

I'm hoping to receive feeback and guidance. Can anyone give me some insight into which route they think will be the fastest?

    I'd appreciate any help!!

    Thanks.

    Jessica
