  1. Thanks for all of your imput regarding my post from yesterday. We just had an Infopass appt. and here's what we learned:

-Considering our timframe (applying for removal of conditions in January 2010), we need not apply for a lost or stolen GC via I-90

-The top tear-off portion of the paper which was attached to the green card (the one that says "Important Information-Save This Mailer" must accompany the I-751 along with photocopy of passport stamp, police report, State photo ID, and a letter explaining lack of Green Card.

-Once the application is received, we will receive a letter which we will take back to Infopass for a new current stamp.

-If they request a current stamp while processing the application we will have it to send. If not, we will be processed like anyone else.

She explained NOT to worry, these things happen all the time and they are obligated to make considerations on a case by case basis.

Although we are required to carry her GC at all times, the agent agreed it would be a waste of time and money given the timeframe.

Yes, we could re-apply via the I-90 to cover our butts and be overly cautious....BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY!

  2. I think you should apply for the I-90 anyway, since there is not a thing you can actually send in lieu of the GC with your I-751. And of course attach both the police report and the I-90 to the I-751. although, if you can do an Infopass appointment, maybe they will tell you exactly how to go about the whole thing.

Thanks. I do have an infopass appointment tomorrow AM, were I am told we can get the passport stamped to prove residency, then include photocopy of passport page with police report, copy of DL and letter explaining the situation. Will let you know more tomorrow!

If anyone has direct experience with the situation please chime in....Thanks Again!

  3. DO you still have a mailer in which the GC came? It is attached to a letter.

If your wife showed her GC for purposes of obtaining work, getting a DL, SSN, medical insurance... they may have made copies of it and maybe just maybe they will make a copy for you.

I hope you notified police and got a police report so you can attach it to I-751.

I would not be getting another card through I-90 since you have to apply for I-751 anyways but will defer getting the right answer to other members.

Next time, copy and scan the card as soon as you get it.

YES, WE STILL HAVE THE MAILER. I AM HOPING THAT THE MAILER, HER CALIFORNIA ID, AND PASSPORT WILL SUFFICE. I AM UNCERTAIN THOUGH AS USCIS HAS GIVEN CONFLICTING INFORMATION!

  4. Hello All-

My wife's wallet was stolen just a week ago, and yes, unfortunately her GREEN CARD was inside. We are just around the corner from sending off the I-751 to remove conditions and receive her 10 year card. We do not have photocopies of the card...

Does anyone know what can be sent with the forms instead of a front and back photocopy of the Green Card? I have received conflicting information from USCIS, some say that we must apply for a lost or stolen card (and use the receipt as proof), and others say that we can use her passport and the 1 page that came with the Green Card which we do still have.

    All imput is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
