  1. I find it funny when you go through the change of address option the CSR responds with your options indicate you would like to change your address, and you go, "NO, I would like to get a status on my case" :)

It is pretty classic.. like: "AHA, CAUGHTCHA NOW ANSWER MY QUESTIONS DAMMIT!"

Yeah, but they never tell you anything. They cant even tell you if your case is being worked on. I sent my packet on the 17th of March, they received it on the 25th and sent out NOA1 on the 31st. Now it is July 11th and still no NOA2. So I called and asked when to expect it and they said "Well, we expect maybe between 90 and 106 more days". How they hell can they be so specific (106) days? Weird. So, the guy was like "You mailed your i-129f kinda late" and I was like "Yeah, I was under the impression I had to have form I-797 before I could mail the I-129f with the I-130." So, the guy was like, "You're looking at about October before you would get your NOA2" at first, the guy didn't even know what the hell an NOA2 was. He was like "You already got your notice of action." and I said "I got the first one." He was like "Well, ma'am, it may be another 90 days or so before you hear anything. You need to wait for the alotted time." and I was like "Your website changed the projected wait time from 6 months to 5 months. So that means that it should be within the next month, right?" and he said "Thats just an estimate. If they knew the exact date, they would post it."

    Sometimes, they are so frustrating.

  2. I am thinking about going in December. But i am really nervous. I know i should just trust that he will meet me at the airport. It does not help that i would travel alone untill i get there. I Guess i would just like advice on how to calm my nerves? I am sure there has to be other couples that have gone and visited each others Countrys.

Hi. Well if it helps at all, I am an american living in Pakistan with my husband and his family. I have been here for a year now. It is just fine, your parents shouldnt be so worried, but I am a few hours from Islamabad. I am in Sialkot. Its not so bad but it is very difficult for you to go out or about alone, even if you are a national here. Let me know if you want to know anything else. I am currently here in Pakistan waiting for my husband's papers.

  3. hi tara, im donna, lovely to hear your story, i also have my NOA1 and am waiting on number 2!

i hope that things settle down there and you can get back to the US safely. i am lucky to be waiting in a safe country.

i am in australia and my hubby is the USC.

good luck on your journey, i wish you and ali all the very best xox

Hey Donna. Nice to meet you. I am glad you are waiting in a safe country. We live in a fairly wealthy part of Pakistan, but we are only 23 km from the Indian border, so, it makes it a little unsteady. We can see the mountains of Kasmir from our roof. It has been quite an adjustment for me, the food, the culture, whatnot, but, I am enjoying time with my husband. My 2.5 yr old daughter is back in USA with my parents and her father. I cant wait to get back and see her and also to start our new life. Insha'Allah (God-Willing), it will be over soon. It is nice to meet someone going through the same kind of wait. I wish you all the best and hope you and your hubby get to spend your lives together in USA very soon. Perhaps we'll cross paths in the States one day. Take care and I will pray for you.

  4. Hi everyone,

VJ has been the most helpful site, I can't imagine what it would be like to go through this process without you guys. Thanks in advance to everyone for their advice and help.

We are fast approaching our projected NOA2 date of mid-July (no RFE's) and may have hit an untimely roadblock. Dani (petitioner) has been let go from the job she had, and is scrambling to find work with no luck. Unfortunately the area of FL she is in is very hard hit with the reession and has seriously affected her line of work. She is unemployed and if we are correct the next step in the K1 process is to look at her finances. We are both quite concerned and worried.

    Here are a few questions and various ideas we have;

-If she is unable to secure employment how will this affect our application?

-Would it still help if we got a co-sponser even if she is unemployed?

-Is it possible if the petitioner has funds in savings sufficient to cover us through the AOS period will this help?

-Will it help that her tax years for 2004 thru 2007 are very good stable income years?

-My father is a US citizen residing in the US, can he co-sponser my fiancee?

We would both appreciate feedback on these thoughts and ideas. Thanks for any and all help!

    Todd & Dani

Hey Todd and Dani. I am from Florida originally. Now in Pakistan with my Husband awaiting His I-130 and K3. Would you mind telling me whereabouts Dani is staying? I may be able to help her find a job quickly. I have many connections around the state, and if not in the job category, friends who know someone. So, let me know. Take care and best of Luck my brother and sister.

  5. Hey all. Best wishes to you and your processing. I am a new poster to this website but I always find it quite helpful. A little about us: My name is Tara and my Husband's name is Zaheer, but we call him Ali. We have been married since January 25, 2009. But, we have been together since August 2008. I travelled here to Pakistan, where I currently am writing to you all from. We applied for his I-130 on March 17 but since it needed to be sent via USPS, we mailed it to my father in USA first to send from home. It arrived at USCIS on the 25th of March. They sent us the NOA1 on the 31st of March. Once we received it, we sent his K3 application. They received it on April 27th I believe. We now have the NOA1 from both the K3 and I-130. Still awaiting the NOA2 from both, but their website www.uscis.gov shows that they are working on both cases as of May 7th for the K3 and May 13th for the I-130. So, just hoping everything works out. Please pray for us. We are worried about the current situation here in Pakistan. We called the USCIS to expedite the visa due to recent bombings and Taliban activity nearby, but even with the direct threats to our family, they said it was not an extreme emergent situation and not valid for expediting. Our family has been directly targeted. In Pakistan, everywhere here we see handwritten signs saying "Any friend to America is an Enemy to Pakistan" and "Death to America". My husband even saw a sign over a public toilet saying "Whitehouse, America" with an arrow indicating. The Taliban knows where we live and there are Al Qaeda members living in our neighborhood. When we got married, there were articles in the paper. So, they all know where we are and my husband works for the government... so he is always a target. Keep us in your prayers and thanks for reading. I pray for you all and best of luck on your petitions. May Allah Bless you and give you swift Response.
