Hi Guys,

Good news and bad news. Good news is I became citizen but the bad news is my wife case got stuck in the name by the officer.

Both of us reached at 9.30 am to Atlanta office but were called in for interview at 12 pm. I came out within 10 minutes with approval

where as my wife case took 1 hour but nothing was determined. The officer said he will call her again for discussion within 2 weeks.

I will explain and ask for your opinions:

Her full name before marriage was: xxx yyy zzz

my first name: aaa

my last name : bbb

after getting married, we got her Indian passport and this appeared in her passport

first name: xxx (which is correct)

last name: aaa bbb (which is my first name and last name)

And with this new name, she had her visa, ssn, greencard...everything...

but the officer is asking her to change the name with this

first name: xxx (which is correct)

middle name: yyy (which is her maiden middle name)

last name : bbb (which is my last name as he is not accepting my first and last name as her last name even though all papers till now that includes visa gc is in that name)

Though we don't want any change as it brings delay of another 2-3 months...but if we have to then we want this

first name: xxx

middle name: aaa (my first name)

last name: bbb (my last name)

we are confused on this. anyhow looks like we have to go with the name change through court before oath, so do we have to take what he is suggesting, or she can legally

change her name to whatever she likes...

expert opinion please!!!

I received my Interview letter today! Yippiiee!!

It's scheduled for Oct. 19 at 8:45 a.m. - maybe I'll have a same day oath ...

That would be a really neat coincidence since my father is going to be here for a visit at that time so he could witness my oath

@ PRK73: You may have some good news in your mailbox today, too. We had the change in our case status online at the same day. Maybe this also goes for the IL.

My online status has changed to the following. I think Atlanta DO has finally reached June filers. Hoping to get interview letter within next 1-2 weeks.

I may have to do this, too. I had my bios even before you, got the yellow letter on Aug 8 and nothing since.

Let's hope our IL's didn't get lost in the mail.

Imzadi, for Atlanta DO, May applicants have started to receive interview letters for 2nd week of October. I think we will get IL soon.

I am expecting we should get IL by Sept 2nd week for Oct last week interview. Let us hope for the best.

I have updated myself! Got my interview letter today - scheduled for September 19th

KikiDoug....Your interview of September 19 falls on Saturday. Does USCIS conduct interviews on Saturday too?

A guy with receipt date of May 6, 2009 got his interview letter just yesterday 8/22/2009, interview date is sept 30, 2009 for Atlanta DO. So I think Atlanta DO is finally moving. I think svrao and nayani09 should be getting the letters soon. Good luck!!!

I got my yellow CFR letter. It is very generic and asks me to bring original plus English translation of the all foreign language documents.

During my greencard process, I had submitted my birth certificate in my native language. I think they are talking about that.

Regarding Atlanta DO, this is my observation after going through different websites and forums, nobody from Atlanta DO

has received interview letter after 1st week of May filers. Just after May 4 or May 5, it has come to standstill.

I am June filer and I am sincerly hoping all May filers get interview letters fast.

Regarding CFR, everyone does not get CFR. CFR is bascially stating that case file was reviewed

and it asks to bring some extra (or may not be extra) documents whenever the interview is

scheduled.

Hi Imzadi - glad you've got a sign of life from USCIS - yes, I think the CFR means your IL will come soon - perhaps another 2 weeks?

What is the CFR letter for? I didn't receive yellow letter but got the Interview Notice only.

I have heard two variations of CFR: Complete File Review or Case File Review

Everyone doesn't get it. Only in the cases where USCIS finds that applicant needs to bring some extra documents, they send CFR, before

sending interview letter.

From Atlanta DO, I see only Kathryn41 getting interview letter. Other two guys Nyani09 and svrao haven't posted any updates on interview letter.

After seeing innernetkafe's mailbox post, I though of asking you all for suggestion. Yesterday I got postal mails

of my neighbor in my mailbox, obviously the USPS postal delivery person has messed up some mails. It definitely

raised my heart beat especially when I am expecting my interview letter any time. I was hoping he has not put my

mail in someone else mailbox.

To be safe, should I call up USCIS and ask if they have posted my interview letter. Can they give that

information to me?

Congratulations to all who have received their interview letters. Hope the remaining will get the letters this month. I see Atlanta DO is quite slow compared to others. It is only Imzadi and me on the list from Atlanta DO. Any update Imzadi? We completed FP around same time.

Even I don't know if it speeds up the process but I feel probability of you getting interview letter earlier is more if FP is done earlier, so I feel you

should go for it provided it is convenient to you. Here in Atlanta, walk-ins are llowed only if the ASC office is not crowded when you try to do walk-in.

Hi Everyone,

I just received my FP notice today. Couldn't check my mails yesterday so it could have been sitting there since yesterday. The FP date is 7/22/09 in Elizabeth NJ.

Does anyone know if walk-in earlier than the given date actually speeds-up the whole remaining process (i.e. receiving the IL and so on...)?

Based on other threads in this forum and other forums, I see May filers have started getting

their interview letters. If USCIS continues with the same pace, I am hopeful that June filers

should start getting IL in August for interviews to be held in September/October.

Try walk-in if it is allowed at your DO.

shakysgirl, you should get your NOA any time soon. Give it a week from receipt

date, plus add couple of days more because of long weekend.

Hi PRK73 - welcome to VJ and the June Filers! Thanks for your suggestion about using the PD also. I don't mind at all, let's see if anybody has opinions strongly for/against.

The only issue I can see with just using the PD date, is that its hard to track for the people who haven't yet got their NOAs. Sometimes USCIS processes the incoming package in a week or two and sometimes in 30 days or more, so its tough for the people who haven't got a NOA yet to see if they are out of line with everyone else... I guess we could track both if we can squish the table so that horizontally it doesn't take any more space - does anyone have further input/ideas....?

Also had a suggestion, instead of using Sent Date in the list, we should use Priority Date (which is also received date by USCIS)

as that is more accurate about when the application process started (Just a suggestion guys!!!)
