It is really confusing and i am afraid i might face similar situation. We got married today and should receive the certificate via mail soon. I have put my maiden name in all the forms since there were no options to change it or hyphenate (thats what i am planning to do), so i am sure that the certificate will have my maiden name as well.

I am planning to apply for SSN tomorrow or Monday with my maiden name and change it as soon as i get the marriage certificate. However, I will put my new name on all AOS forms.

I surfed the internet: some sources suggest to change yr SSN first and then DL, some the other way round (referred to the point that SSN will need one ID with photo and old surname, and the other - with the new surname). But i did read somewhere that marriage certificate is enough evidence to change yr name.

Looks like they require yr SSN card to get yr DL, and in case of changing name on SS ID - they need yr DL. Well, unless i am reading smthng wrong :(

If i remember correctly, somebody has already posted the link, but i guess you should print it out and go back to SSN office - ask to see their supervisor if needed (pay attention to section 6. - Aliens adults)

this one also should help https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203210

I also seen 'legal name change kit' for $15 or so, so maybe its one of the options? Well, at least its cheaper than $68 :)

    Hope this helps.

    GL

    cheers

  2. Hi

our case arrived in vilnius on oct 19. I did call the embassy and made an appointment for the interview for oct 27.

i have all docs ready for the interview so they agreed to interview me in a week ;) . Besides, Lithuania do not require packet 3 or 4, so i dont think they even gonna send me the notification letter.

I passed (i hope so, coz my results are ready Mo, 26th) my medical today, and got tickets ordered for Nov 15.

so, i 'll stop by here and let u know how my interview went.

Basically my advise for those who still waiting: dont just wait - get all yr docs ready, including whats needed for the medical.

    Good luck everyone

  3. hello Everyone, I just received an email from USCIS that my petition for I=130 has been approved. Im still awaiting for the hard copy. Since i don't have the hard copy yet, i want to start ahead. Can anyone tell me what are the documents that are required? so that i could prepare for it while waiting for the hard copy. Thank you...

    Hi,

    First of all congrats :)

Secondly, i guess u r talking about K3, not K1? If thats the case, i am sure there is a June 09 filers K3 CSC topic separately so i am afaid u will find more info there. Besides, this site contains lots of guides and FAQs sections so i am sure u ll find more info regarding next steps on yr case there

    GL and cheers

  4. Hi there,

glad the things are moving ahead. As to the dates: no rocket science here, CSC processing times show 100 days for I129F. Last ones were approved in ~90, so if the estimated date is sept 25, -10 days makes it sept 15... no need to call to make simple calculation

i pesonally do not believe USCIS would give any dates :D officially its 5 months

    anyways, just my 2 cents...

Anyways, my timeline is very similar and i am expecting to get it appoved by mid september

    good luck everyone

    cheers

  5. Hi guys

As for me i am in the US spending time with my fiance.

I entered w/o any major troubles, was taken to the 'second room' though, but was admitted as soon as i mentioned that we have met in person in Europe before. Waiver program gives u 90 days of staying in the US, so i am flying back to Lithuania next week :(

Since we just filed our I129F (june), and we dont wanna spend much time apart, i will try to get back in september for another 80-90 days which is risky, i know, but is worth trying.

I have read many posts here regarding entering the US while yr case is pending. many ppl mention that u gotta have to prove yr ties to yr home country LOL

I AM GONNA MARRY A US CITIZEN AND MOVE HERE, obviously even if i have ties to my home country, i have decided to abandon them!!! why would i need to prove the opposite??? its ridiculous

Anyways, i ll do my best to get through for the second time

Wish me luck, will stay in touch and keep u informed
