  1. Congrats!

Everyone I know on the East coast keeps commenting on how frigid this winter has been. Right now it's snowing in Philadelphia and the 'feels like' temperature is 7 degrees F. I was actually in Kusadasi/Izmir for the past few months, and not a day goes by where I don't say 'I wish I was in Turkey, it's waayyyy too cold here in the US.'

Changing subjects a little bit, I was wondering if anyone might be able to provide some insight into my current K-1 dilemma. I was talking to my fiance the other day (he's the Turkish one), and I was telling him about the documents that he'll need to gather in the future. I mentioned that he'll need his birth certificate, and he said that because he was born at home (not in a hospital) that he doesn't have one. He says that his only form of ID is his identity card. He actually came to the US last summer on a temporary work visa (to VA Beach) so I assumed that he would have needed his birth certificate for that, but he said 'no, I only needed my identity card.' I was also thinking that his birth certificate has to be somewhere filed away in a government records office, but again he said no, and that he never had one. Is this normal? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Nicole,

You asked if it is normal or not..of course it's not normal.I think there is a misundertood beetween you and Efe.I think he can't get the right one..

So please tell him just like this, if he goes to ''Nufus Mudurlugu'' where he belongs to (in which convicity he lives ) and if he asks his ''Vukuatli Nufus Kayit Ornegi'', the officer will give him without any fee. ( you can explain the 'nufus mudurlugu' like this also, if he loose his identity card the place he should go and get a new one.)

It doesn't matter where he was born, in a hospital or in a house. If he is a Turkish Citizen ,if he lives & works & studies & votes etc..in Turkey then he must have an Identity Card & Birth Certificate ( Vukuatli Nufus Kayit Ornegi) ,and also he has to get it translated by a translation office.(no need any apostile,do not spend more money) just a translation is enough. You can tell him like this in Turkish ,he will understand ( Noter onayina gerek yok).

Hope it'll be usefull for you.Good luck.

  5. Hello Theglassguy,

I understand your being in a flutter since we got the same RFE last week, but yesterday we got the hardcopy and saw the silly RFE.My fiancee forgot to anwser 'yes or no' question in the I129 form. All that was it..Someone told me that 'Request for initial evidence' is different from 'request for additional evidence',and if there's a missing info or incomplete doc.(such as signature, unanswered question, missing documents, photos in wrong size etc..) they'll send RFE(Initial not additional).

So all you can do for now is waiting for the hardcopy of RFE,you'll see there's nothing to worry about it.Please don't get stress.(RFE is coming in about 4 days)

Stay in peace my friend.Have a nice weekend :energy:

Glad to hear it was something easy. Now you can be on your way once again. :)

    Good Morning Sam and Ben,

Thanks for your concern..Yeah,you're right, our RFE was something real simple. Now start again to wait for the NOA2 ,I hope it will be soon.

Good luck on the rest of your process. :goofy:

  6. What a bummer. Is bad...I'm not going to say otherwise. But at least they are working on your file. And no....they are not going to put you back at the beginning of the queue. They will wait for your response. In the meantime they will work on other files.

But hey.....do you have a copy of the I-129F package? Give it a good check. Compare it with the guides here in VJ. Maybe you can find out what was wrong and probably have it ready by the time you get the RFE hardcopy.

You will get through this. You will see.

    PEACE......

I just looked over every thing and the only thing I can see is that there is not a zip code put in the box for her city? Could this hold it up??I mean my lawyer only copyed my plane tickets and a few pictures, thats about it.

  7. Dennis&Dane;I think there's some misunderstanding, I read what you've written but it doesn't suit us,therefore we are not outside the window as you've written..We met in 1993 and normally have known each other since November 1993 ,we had a relationship between 1993-1995 and then, after years again we have been together since September 2007 and we are in August 2009 and still together..we have a lot strong proofs.. and all of them were sent..I think it's clear..Thank you..

  8. WE HAVE GOT A TOUCH!!!! This is the first touch since April 23..So excited..

    Hey,

I think your time is coming...those who said they got their NOA2's on Friday have received some notification or other :)

    TiNa

Wish you were right my friend :(:( but we learned that we got the RFE today.I don't know what they will request exactly?

What a bummer. But as Tina&Roland said, at least they are working on your file. Just wait for the hardcopy of the RFE. In the meantime check your copy of the I-129F to see what it might possibly be so that you can send it as soon as you get the actual RFE notification. After that you will get the NOA2 sooner than you expect.

    PEACE my friend.............

    Tina&Roland and Victor&Cory;

Thank you very much for your concern and optimist views my friends.I will take your advice and check my copy of the I-129F.I think 'Request for Additional Evidence & Request for Initial Evidence' are different from each other,am I wrong? And ours is the second one,I mean 'Initial Evidence'.Not sure but just a thought,it's something about missing information.

Again thanks a lot my friends for taking the time to share your ideas here with me.

Hope is the best and I hope the best for all of us. :star:

How long have you know each other? Maybe thats why they want more proof,I hope I dont run into this problem, Me and Anya really will on have know each other for a year this Nov, But we are so in love and talk to each other every day of the week,We have cams on out computers and then she gets home from work Im just getting to work.We spend most of our free time chating and seeing each other,We have not stop doing this now for close to a year.If thats not love then I dont know what is.I hope they dont use that stupid 2 year thing because 2 years is crazy.Meny people fall in love in the first few week.

    Hello Theglassguy,

Thanks for sharing your opinion but as an answer of your question,I have to say,I don't really think the RFE is about the time knowing each other like you thought, because we have known each other for 16 years ( I mean since November 1993)and there are photos which were taken in 1993 & 1994,family members' letters about our relation both between 1993-1995 and our coming reunion in 2007 etc...We have really a long story and it was written in details with proofs and sent them.

I think we sent all proofs about our hard relationship & deep love... I don't know what the missing info is..wait and see,I hope the hard copy of RFE'll come a.s.a.p...

    Sam and Ben;

Thank you for your concern..I'm thinking the same reasons about RFE like you do,it's about something like missing signature, missing doc.,wrong date..etc. I've got nothing to do except waiting silently..but can't help wondering so much..!!!

I hope deeply, nobody'll run into this problem named RFE and get their NOA2 easily & quickly.

  12. So I arrived in Moscow to see Kirill yesterday I woke of this morning to check my e-mail and to my surprise I see the approval notice in the inbox. I could not believe it! 13. hello

I got a letter from NVC dated August 7 saying they have received and approved my petition 129f and they will forward it within a week to the appropriate visa-issuing post where the interview will take place.

I immediately called and they told me it was shipped to the consulate on August 6.

    so far so good.

NVC things are really moving fast now.

CONGRATULATIONS.:dance::dance: Great news.I think this is the first April approved file,am I wrong?Go VSC Go!!!

  14. Thank you so much to everyone for your quick and detailed replies. It looks like we will just have to go with the K1 and wait as long as it takes, as I cannot reside in Turkey for 6 months right now and therefore cannot meet the residency requirements for the DCF. And yes, I have heard that K3 is obsolete...best to go with the CR1, as processing times are now equivelent, but for time's sake it looks like the K1 is the way to go for us. And great to hear from someone else from Turkey--I might send questions your way in the future once we start the process. So happy to find this site!

    Good morning,

Whenever & whatever you need any informations,I can help you with a pleasure.Beside this, your decision is right about going with the K1.Don't worry anything about it,sooner or later he'll get his visa in one way.Tell your fiance to register any forms in Turkey, there are 2 forums which are the best.If he gives his nick name,I can help him there too.(I mean in the forum) I'm sure by talking in our native language and in our native time,he can get info fast & the best.Get the documents a.s.a.p and apply for the K1 visa.Good Luck both of you. :goofy:

    * Important please note this, your fiance will need a birth certificate,in Turkey there are 2 types of it and also ın Turkish applicants there is a common misunderstanding about it since we use ''ıdentitiy card'' when someone asks for our certificates. But this is not the same what the USCIS wants.Tell him to take '' Vukuatlı Nüfus Kayıt Orneği''.. I have to write it in Turkish, because this is the word that he can understand easily.Tell him like that,he will understand exactly.

  15. It covers a long period of CR1 visa type but the best side is,everything will be ready when the applicant enters the U.S.no need to deal with S.S.N or work permit etc.She mentioned that she wants to become together a.s.a.p. and because of this I advice her to apply for K1 visa.As she isn't a resident, of course she can't live İn Turkey for a year but she can come and marry and then apply for K3 visa, but she can't wait here of course, she has to return to U.S and they have to wait the crazy months or even a year.It can be taught K1 & K3 visas are alternatives of each other, but the couples who don't want to stay far away for a long time, they mostly apply for K1 visa.By the way, under what K3 visa is obsolote?I don't understand the reason of obsolotion of it.

Karen123,as your fiance is a Turkish & lives in Turkey and the application will be from Istanbul or Ankara. The best thing he has to do is to register any immigrant forms in Turkey, the best and the current answers are going to come from there, not only the applicants but also the immigrant lawyers answer and redirect the people daily 7/24.If there's something to obsess you,you can ask whatever you want.Think deeply and decide the best, waiting without knowing the certain date is so boring.Good luck again. :star:

  16. You can check it out here;but I have to say,for my country there are so many changes about immigrations and you may wait for a long time to get DCF visa.I insist on that the fastest way to become together is applying for K1 visa.Although my fiance is a US citizen and he has a residence permit,we never thougt to apply for DCF visa.By the way, these are just my opinions according to my readings and hearings, decision is only yours:) I just want to share since I know how difficult it is to live in different countries and also it's too hard to get any info to decide what to do,by not knowing the foreign country's procedure.

  17. Hello,

I am a bit overwhelmed by reading all of the State Dept. info and questions and answers on this site. My fiance is a turkish citizen and I am a US citizen. We were planning on filing for a K1 Visa, but it looks like that takes at least 6 months. What I am wondering is if he could come back to the US with me sooner if we were to marry in Turkey and file with the embassy there--but as I am not a Turkish resident I do not know if this is possible. In general what is the fastest way to be together--regarless of citizenship status, greencard processing, etc. We just do not want to be apart for 6 months and I have to return to the US in the Fall.

    Hello Karen,

Of course it is possible to marry him in Turkey, there's no rule that if someone is not a Turkish resident he/she can't marry in this country. If you marry in Turkey, you have to apply for K3 visa and it's the hardest way as everyone knows ( in the meaning of waiting time).K1 is the fastest way to get the visa,if everything is ok that they want to see.Where does your fiance live in Turkey? He can get a lot of informations and advices or whatever he wants to learn,in Turkish forms. As he is an applicant from Turkey,he can easily learn what he needs to do from Turkish Forms. He's not going to be alone, there are a lot of applicants there sharing their knowledges, and help each other.I'm a Turkish Citizen,if anything you want to ask about Turkish procedure about visas, help you as much as I can with pleasure.Good luck.
