  1. Congratulations to all who have received their GC and approval. Good luck to those who are awaiting interview. I got my EAD card last Saturday, exactly 5 years from the day I arrived here, and applied for SSN yesterday. Question: Do I have to inform or update my SSN when I receive my GC? Interview is in 2 weeks, so excited to finally be able to drive, work and visit family back in the Philippines.

  2. I hadn't had any touches since right after Biometrics, but today I got a text message that my status had changed online and an email saying that the EAD card had been ordered. It's been almost a month since our Biometrics, so I think you should be getting yours soon too. Also a touch on AP but no status change. It seems alot of people are receiving AP without email notification. Woo-hoo! So happy to have EAD on its way!

Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope my week will be as exciting as yours.

  3. got a surprise in the mail, no notification of approval email, just the AP in the mail :)

Also received the NOA of the AOS Transfer to CA :)

Hi. I also filed my AOS and EAD on January 19 and the last update I had was on February 17, a day after doing the biometrics. Did you have any touches on your applications after the biometrics? I see a lot of people getting touches on their application and wondering why I have none. I hope I get a surprise in the mail too, soon.

  4. I just did the biometrics this morning. It was wet, slushy and snowy here in central NJ but it was a pleasant experience overall. We got a good parking spot just about 50 feet from the office and there was no queue at the door. There were like 40 people ahead of me but the service was organized and efficient. The whole process took about an hour. I showed my expired passport and was not asked about it. Whew! Now another round of waiting begins........

  5. Please count me in. I filed my I-485 and I-765 last January 19, 2010, a week after my wife became a naturalized citizen. My I-130 was filed in July 2005 before my I-94 expired. I came here on a B2 visa but overstayed because someone had to stay home to take care of our baby then. He is 4 now and attending preschool. I can't wait to finally be able to work, drive and travel back to the Philippines. Five long years and it's finally here. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  6. I am getting ready to file an AOS for my spouse. Here's my checklist. Am I missing something? Any feedback is appreciated.

    1. Check payment in the amount of $1,010. Filing Fee and Biometrics Fee

    2. Form I-485

    a. Copy of I-130 Approval Notice

    b. Copy of Petitioner Naturalization Certificate

    c. 2 Passport Photos

    d. Copies of Birth Certificate

    e. Copy of Marriage Certificate

    f. Copy of I-94 Front and Back

    g. Copy of Passport Page with Nonimmigrant Visa

    3. Form G-325A, Biographic Information

    4. Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record

    5. Form I-864, Affidavit of Support

    a. Copies of Federal Income Tax Return

    b. Letter of Employment

    6. Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization

    a. 2 Passport Photos

  7. From the N-400 form:

"e. Helped anyone enter or try to enter the United States illegally?

    23. Have you ever given false or misleading information to any U.S. government official

while applying for any immigration benefit or to prevent deportation, exclusion or removal?

    24. Have you ever lied to any U.S. government official to gain entry or admission into the United States?"

Certainly don't want to answer No to any of these questions, better see your attorney.

As far as I know I never helped my husband enter the US illegally. He entered legally using his own B2 visa which was good for 10 years. I was petitioned by my employer and entered the US with a GC in hand. My husband and I did not enter the US together. All the facts I provided in my petition were factual since he was still in legal status at the time I filed. I can certainly answer NO to the three questions because they just don't apply to my case. Let's see what the lawyers has to say. Thanks for the quick reply.

  8. Hello everyone. I will be eligible for citizenship in a few months so I'm getting quite anxious. My problem is that my husband of 4 years have overstayed on his B2 visa. I have a pending petition for his as spouse of an LPR which I filed before his I-94 expired sometime in 2005. I am aware that I should disclose this fact on the N-400 form in the spouse section. Has anyone had this same issue? What did you write in the spouse immigration status space? Is this going to be an issue in my citizenship application? I am going to see my lawyer next month...just trying to get a head start. Thanks for your time.

  9. I am an permanent resident who lived in US about 5 years now, and I am preparing my N-400 Application for Naturalization form, the problem is that my wife's B2 visa expired couple of years ago. So now I am trying to figure out what should I enter in field "Spouse's Immigration Status"; should I say entered on B1 visa or should I say that the visa is expired ?

Is there a chance that this issue could cause problems for my citizenship path ?

    Thank you so much!

Can you provide an update on your situation. My wife is in the same predicament. She will be eligible to apply for citizenship in December. What did you enter in the "Spouse's Immigration Status"? Did you get your citizenship? Was this issue raised during the interview? Please help...
