  1. I hate revising by reading through the book of 96 questions, I find it boring. Does anyone know of any good historically acurate movies about American history? I am looking for something which would help with the civics test.

I know the National Treasure movies have some good facts in.

Don't be an idiot...you can learn lots of things in movies, but that test you need to learn from the flash cards they give you at the biometrics appt or from the USCIS website.

I am certainly not an idiot thanks!

  2. About 4 months for me - see timeline below.

I did finger prints in June and have the interview on 10/29. I just got my appointment letter in the mail last week. It should take me about 6 months in total to complete the N-400 process. I was expecting about a year, so it is a lot quicker than I thought.

  3. My application number is WSC* (followed by 9 digits). Does anyone else have an asterix in their number? I can't pull the online status up. It is not recognized if I use the * and if I dont, there are not enough digits.

I filed about 3 months ago, so it is possible that the website is not updated with my case yet. Although I did do my finger prints about 6 weeks ago.

  4. It depends on the country. Some countries require you renounce your citizenship when you become "American". In the case of the UK, they don't. Once you are a British citizen you are always one. You will not loose it unless you go into an embassay and fill in some paperwork to remove the citizenship.

  5. Do you owe any Federal, state or local taxes which are overdue?

I don't understand the wording of this question. I have owed a little, when I have filed my taxes the past couple of years. But I have set up an installment plan with the IRS and always paid on time each month. I have also filed my taxes on time each year that I have been in the USA.

I am tempted to put no on this question, as I have an installment plan set up and pay on time. Any thoughts?

  6. Yeah, I think you're wrong. I think Jewel is dead on. It's not that they didn't believe per-se, they probably just wanted a little more evidence or a explanation of why then what I had submitted. I just got back form the DMV to renew her state I.D. and add her name to the car title. Went to the bank and they give me a signature card. Went downtown to get a copy of her State return; so all I need to do now is wait for the federal return; then start wrapping this RFE up. I honestly think were I goofed up is that I didn’t write a cover letter explaining my situation in the get-go. Have I had done so, I wouldn’t got a RFE. One person I told laugh it off and told me to just explain to them and don’t worry about. I’m sure the examiner will understand.

How does a state ID prove you are a real married couple?

  7. I took this from another post. This is kind of evidence you require. If you can't supply this kind of evidence you need to hire an immigration attorney. If you don't seek proffesional help, you will be heading back to the Philippines.

Here is what I've gathered together so far:

    - Mortgage Deed in both our names

    - Bank Statements in both our names

    - Loan agreement & statements in both our names

    - Vehicle insurance policies in both our names

    - Husband's medical insurane policy showing me as beneficiary & card copies

    - County Tax statements in both our names

    - Federal tax returns in both our names

    - Copies of joint credit cards & statements

    - Electric & cable bills in both our names

    - Phone bills in my name only

    - AAA membership statements in both our names

    - Trip itinerary & boarding passing from our last vacation together

    - Copies of each our Drivers Licenses showing same address

  8. you still look a little short on evidence. also you should submit a 2005 tax return in addition to the 2006 (as you have been in the country for two years). try sending some photos also, with the two of you with other family members etc.

in fact looking over your situation and lack of evidence available i would recommend that you hire an immigration attorney to advise and help you out.

  9. unfortunately you have made a mistake by not making sure that you do joint paperwork to make your marrage look legitimate. you should have filed taxes jointly, took out joint accounts etc. to make sure you are covered for when you file i-751. from the evidence you gave it does not give the impression that you are a legitimate couple. here is some examples of what you should be filing;

copies of joint medical insurance, joint car insurance, joint rent/ lease/ mortgage, joint car registration, joint car insurance policy, joint bank or credit card statements, joint tax returns, tickets for vacations together etc.

i hope it works out for you, but let this be a warning for others. make sure you can provide as much evidence as possible. it is by no means guarnteed that you will have your card renewed after the 2 years.

  10. I have a question. When they fingure printed you guys, did they take all 10 fingure? someone told me that for their wife it was only one index fingure.. can someone please share their experience on this.

    thanks

They took all 10 fingers. Basically I went to a field office (Pico Blvd, West LA) - it was like a doctors surgery. I had to fill out a form, took a number and watied about 10 minutes. They then called me up. They inputted the data from my sheet into the computer. They then took prints of all fingers and took a photo. I even got to take a look at it. It didn't look good, so they took another with me smiling more. I was in and out within 30 minutes. It was quick and easy.
