  1. Hello, We are preparing our documents for ROC and have a question that I hope someone can answer for us. Here it is...

We have bank statements but we are not sure whether to send the entire bank statements or just the first page showing both of our names? If anyone could please let us know what they will be looking for that would be great.

    Thank you in advance.

  2. 1. No your husband does not contact the embassy, they will mail him a letter letting him know when to come and pick up the packet for the K-3.

    2. Do not act on any future requests regarding the K-3 and continue processing all requests for the I-130. The I-130 will override the K-3 once it reaches the embassy anyway, so no need to do anything else with the K-3. We had the exact same scenario and that is what we've done. At this point we are still waiting for an interview to be scheduled. We were approved on May 13th. The I-130 slows up at this stage because the NVC schedules the appts. at the embassy (but only allowed to schedule so many per month).

    Hope this helps.

So this raises a problem. On the forms we put my husbands physical address. He is unable to receive mail at the address so he has a po box. We didn't give the po box address anywhere on his paperwork. Should he call the embassy and give them his po box???

I was thinking that we should continue the K-3 with the medical and setting the interview appt a couple months in advance giving NVC plenty of time to approve our case. By the time it reaches the Embassy, just have the I-130 override the K-3 and have the interview already set. Of course timing is key in the situation. What are you thoughts on that??? Has anyone ever done that???

    Thank you for your help!!

  3. Hello Everyone - Let me give you a quick senario before I ask my questions. USCIS has already approved our I-130 and I -129F for the K-3 visa. I want to change that to CR-1 visa tho. We have the NVC numbers for both as well. I haven't rec'd the email requesting "Choice of Agent" for the I-130. The I-129F has already been sent to embassy.

So my questions are 1. Does my husband have to call the embassy to see what our next step is or will they contact him?

    2. How can we change to CR-1 from the K-3 visa process?

Thank you all for your time and responses.

  4. I am so very happy at 10:30 pm tonight I got our approval letter :dance::dance::dance::dance: it has beeen a wait. You know you look on the USCIS website 2 or 3 times a day and you check the mail constantly and when you start to relax on looking so much POW there it is...

I called my husband and we both has nothing we could say. You wait and wait for the letter and when it comes you are speechless...it was just like a sigh of relief...we are now waiting for our interview date...

God is great. I know that God's favor is on our lives and situation. He said that He will never leave nor forsake us if we just keep our faith, hope and eyes on Him.

I will continue to pray for all of us longing to be reunited with our loved ones and that the visa process becomes an opportunity for our joy to be revealed and our faith to grow so that our endurance is fully developed and then we will be stronger in character and ready for anything.

Love you all (L)(L) ...be blessed.

Congratulations!!!! I pray that the rest of the process is just as smooth for you. God will bless us all very soon in VJ.

  5. Situation: I have filed the I-130 with USCIS and received my NOA1. I then filed form I-129F for a K-3 visa. I have not heard anything back from USCIS. Its been about 30 days now. I have been reading the forums and realized that my best route to take would be CR1 visa. Thank you all for this advice!!!

Question: Was I suppose to inform USCIS that instead of going the K-3 visa route I am now interested in applying for the CR1 visa? Or do I wait to get the approval for either the I-130 or the I-129F and inform NVC?

I appreciate any input on this topic as I am a newbie to this.

USCIS approves petitions... Department of State issues visas...

When the petition(s) is/are approved, then the case files move to the Department of State at which time you choose your visa path.

Department of State being the NVC?

  7. They have about the same timelines now. In the past, the K-3 was much faster than the CR-1 however now they're within weeks of each other. The benefits of coming in on a CR-1 versus the K-3 are immense. With the K-3 once the person arrives in the US you need to apply for Employment authorization and for AOS. That costs about $1010 whereas with the CR-1 you basically pay $500 at the NVC and once the person arrives they are able to work right away.

K-3 is just a hassle and will only save you about 2-3 weeks (maybe a month). I know that seems like forever right now, but it's worth it to just follow the CR-1 path. You started that when you submitted the I-130 and you will be notified by the NVC when it's time to pay the other fees prior to the interview being scheduled.

Thank you all for your response. I now know that we will take the CR-1 path. I have been on a couple of websites including USCIS trying to find the documents I will need to file the CR-1 but can't find anything. Are there any additional documents that I would need to file with the K-3visa? Is there an application for the CR-1 or do I just wait to hear back from USCIS in regards to the k-3?

    You help is tremendously appreciated.

  8. I am new to this and need a little assistance please. This site recommended to me by my ex husband who used it and swears by it.

After 7 months online, I went to Ghana to meet my fiance and we married while I was there. Now I am back in the US and need to start the K3 process. I read over the I-130 forms and they want affidavits or proof that we are married such as joint checking or joint tenancy but we don't have any of that, for we were only married for 1 day before I had to leave to come back home. I have a copy of my marriage certificate - will this be enough? Also I am having difficulty having my name changed because SSN & DMV do not recognize a forgein marriage certificate.

Soon after our marriage I tried to have my name changed as well. I was told the same information. I contacted an attorney to find out what my options were to bring my husband over and I mentioned the name change. She stated that I didn't need to change my name at this time and that it wouldn't be an issue. I still haven't changed my name and am processing my documents under maiden name. We are planning to marry here in AZ once my husband arrives and at that time I will change my name.

  9. Anyone have any advice for purchasing tickets from Accra, Ghana? What are the best airlines, travel websites to use? Is it best/cheapest to purchase from U.S. or from an office in Ghana?

    Thanks!

I'm not familiar with any in Accra, Ghana but I know that Delta has pretty inexpensive fares.

  10. I am just wondering if it is standing procedure for the Chicago lockbox to cash the check for the filling fee for the I-130 and then sends the NOA1, I have read other posters time lines and notice that it has happened before. I am just wondering if it is standing procedures and why they do it like that.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, that happens with our application as well. I'm not sure why they did that tho. I was just happy that they rec'd it and were processing my docs.
