  1. I am however, not willing to tell someone "oh, sure it's fine come in and get married on a visa that is not supposed to be for that". Doing so is going against the Terms of Service.... which you might want to read one day ;)

    Coming into the US with a visa that has no stipulated marriage clause, with the intent to get married is not cool. quite simple. It is not a "faster"option, it is hoodwinking the US government.

    Are you still maintaining that there is something wrong with getting an L visa *because* the applicant intends to marry a USC in the future? Because it sure looks like it.

    There is nothing wrong with that plan. It is not fraud, not 'not cool', not hoodwinking the US gov't or anyone else.

    Nice way to cast aspersions on this person too by suggesting that they are abetting lawbreakers? Even after the correction had been posted?

    sheesh.

    Read my original post: I told the OP to be extremely cautious. Why? Because I would hate for his entire future to be fvcked over the legalese of the immigration process: that would be sad and it is avoidable. It was not bashing; though I admit: I do not cuddle people, it's not my style.

    You didn't say 'be extremely cautious', you declared that the person should be extremely worried because they had exposed their fraudulent intent to the world, God and the USCIS, and further declared that there are 3 choices, including another incorrect conclusion. And they you use Tavo's words to hitch hike from, even though Tavo's posts were completely incorrect.

    It might be a comfort to know that L visas aren't DIY, so the prospect's company lawyers will be sure to vet the process for him.

    and you should be worried... since you already posted on an internet public forum that such is your intention. Options:

    1.- Apply for K-1 fiancee visa

    2.- Fly there, marry and apply for CR-1 visa.

    3.- Play Lone Ranger, move to the US, get married, and have to prove you were not trying to commit fraud.

    Like Tavo said, your pick.

    This is not a Lone Ranger situation, it's just one you don't know anything about, but won't say that you've not heard of it before. That's fine, you don't have to come out to everyone, but it's not so great when you stay on the high horse.

    Now, as for being nice n' polite when people are knowingly asking for help with fraud... hmm, that's a different story and I'm not always so nice about it myself. These people aren't trying to commit fraud, they're trying not to. Too bad for them they asked for help in the wrong place.

    I second that.

  2. My husband went to a very good Civil Surgeon in Houston Texas. They were the 2nd place I called(the first place was clueless), they were so infomative, seemed like they did this 100 x's a day. It cost $150.00 for the full I-693 and trasfered his previous shots to the I-693. He did need the MMR shot though which cost $90.00. He also tested positive for TB so we had to get an x-ray but that only cost like $39.00. So was very please with price and knowledge.

  3. I think I can see mine online. I still haven't got my NOA's, but I tried the number from the back of the check but added diff. numbers at the end. Example, # on back of check MSCXXXXXXXX01 and 02, so i tried case status with MSCXXXXXXXX04, 06, 07 and these worked. Are these mine or someone elses? They said they mail receipt but I haven't got anything.

    They could be someone else's. My receipt numbers were different from the back of my cheque and they are not in any particular order... they are all off by a couple of digits.

    Yeah thats what I tried different numbers, one was 2 digits off and the other two were 3 and 4 off. The numbers on my check don't work. Still uncertain if mine though.

  4. I too was finally able to add my cases to my portfolio, but as I speculated with the numbers at the and, I somehow added not 1, but 2 cases I485 :blink: . Is it possible to add somebody else's case, or they made a mistake :bonk: ?

    Yes it is possible as the online portfollio is used by attorneys keeping track of their wards too. Speculation of numbers I expect is tricky. Perhaps phoning the misinformation line and asking them to confirm the case numbers? as You maybe looking at the wrong ones and I am not sure how they dish out their numeral increments.

    Not much point in calling I have done that all they said was "If you haven't received it in 30 days call us back", but someone else my have more luck.

    Your NOA # for your I-485 came up with 2? or you typed in two diff numbers? The case number I managed to pull up this morning also said it was received on June 30 mine should have been received on June 25, but my check was cashed June 30.

  7. I think what they are wanting is for you to get your DS3025 transcribe to a I-693. I would give them exactly what they ask for.

    "In order to process your application further, you need to submit a properly completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record."

    Which is what I am going to do, but since they sent a RFE with two boxes checked - "properly completed I-693" and "proper documentation of immunization" I was confused. We have to go get his tetanus shot and then drive 1 hour to get his vaccinations transcribed to a I-693 so we can send it off tomorrow.

    Glad to hear your already sending off tomorrow :).

    I got my hard copy NOAs today.

    My receipt numbers still don't work... oh well, I guess I'll keep trying.

    DavChels - I just sent in the vaccination form thing I got at my medical too, so we shall see if we get an RFE. I'm hoping I don't, as most Canadians I know haven't... but I'm not holding my breath!!

    Congrats!

  8. All three NOA's arrived in the post this morning :thumbs:

    Congrats! I just saw that on the spreedsheet. Hope to get mine soon you filed a few days after me, but I still haven't got mine.

    It's good to get some sort of paper so we know they have it. Course the receipt number brings up nada at this point...but I'll keep trying :yes:

    Yes it is good to get some sort of paper, thats why I want it so bad..lol. Iam starting to get a little paranoid also, because my mail box was so full the day my check was cashed (around the same time when most ppl get their NOA1's ). So getting worried it was possibly returned :(.

  9. We received RFE today for the Medical Exam grrrr. It's two pages, the first one says "In order to process your application further, you need to submit a properly completed and signed form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination record for the applicant on Form I-485." The second page says "You failed to submit proper documentation of immunization for the Form i-485 applicant. In order to process your application further, you need to submit a properly completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record."

    Is there a difference in these two? Sounds like we need to do a medical exam, since we only submitted DS-3025 and apparently they lost the original exam that got transferred from Guatemala...since the directions implicitely say if you came on a Fiance Visa and your Medical Exam is less than 1 year old than you don't have to submit anything. This is frustrating. What were you guys' experiences with the medical exam? Did you have to pay hundreds or how did it work for you all?

    Bummer...sorry to hear about the RFE. I think that the form I-693 is all you need for the I-485. You only need to get the vaccinations. If you have the information from the previous medical you can get the doctor to just do the vaccinations and do the supplemental form. I paid 150 or so but the full medical was 355, if I remember correctly. Good Luck and keep us posted. I do think that if you have had all the vaccinations you may just need the doctor here in the states to fill out the section of the I-693 stating that this is the case. The medical stuff is so frustrating because it is a bit inconsistent.

    So I called the NCSC at 1-800-375-5283 this morning to find out why we got a RFE (actually it's an RIE Request for Initial Evidence) for a medical exam and vaccination supplement when Josue came on K-1 and the directions on the I-485 (which the RIE actually refers to) say: If you are a K-1 fiance or K-2 dependent who had a medical examination within the past year as required for the nonimmigrant fiance visa, you only need to submit a vaccination supplement, not the entire medical report.

    So the woman put me on hold for a while and came back and told me we needed to get to a civil surgeon and get it transferred, that we did not need a new medical. I had read here on VJ and she did recommend that we write a letter with the facts - that he came on a K-1 visa, got the medical exam within a year, etc. I saw on VJ that we should even send a copy of his K-1 visa with the packet - easy to do! Hopefully that will be sufficient and we won't get a denial, since they don't resend another one for the same thing once we have responded.

    The closest Field Office is 3:15 away so not worth it to go for them to tell us the same thing. Hope this works!

  10. Hi guys,

    My checks were finally cashed :dance: and I can see the 13 character number on the back of my checks ( it starts with MSC right?). However my cases can not be found on-line...they probably need some more time to update the info :wacko: and since the long weekend has already started I am not hoping for any further updates this week :unsure: .

    Happy Independence Day :goofy: !!!

    Same here not expecting much since I have been hearing they are possibly taking a week long vacation. I am waiting on a NOA1 and status online. My package was received June 25 and check cashed June 30.

  11. Hello June Filers,

    I am new to posting on here, but certainly not new to VJ. I have been around for about a year (lol), just haven't posted. My husband posted a couple questions not long ago but thats it. We have now sent I-130, I-485 and I-765 off, check was cashed yesterday but showed up today in bank. My receipt number appears to start with USC, does that sound right? If so what does that stand for?

    Thanks

    Hello Jennifer.

    I think USC is incorrect. Probably VSC

    MSC = Missouri Service Center (aka National Benefit Center)

    VSC = Vermont Service Center

    CSC = California Service Center

    NSC = Nebraska Service Center

    TSC = Texas Service Center

    Try on USCIS.gov to see if the number is valid.

    Always remember to add a few more numbers at the end. For example, if your reads VSC12345678 try 78, 79, 80. Sometimes what you see at the back of the check isn't necessarily the actual receipt number. Who knows why.

    Thanks, Leo-Feng for your response, will try that.

    No luck, I have tried all the letters already just not diff. numbers at the end. So I guess either my case isn't in the system yet or have to wait for NOA.
