  1. I really enjoyed reading this thread, and can relate to so many of the things posted here. My husband is from Cameroon and our communication is our greatest barrier. I try to keep reminding myself that how I interpret what he says, is not what he really means. We have had so many pointless arguements because of this. So, now to avoid confusion, I repeat what I think he means and if it is not correct then he tries to make me understand. And I do the same for him. He is such a peaceful and gentle man, and he hates to argue with me, it makes him shut down. And when he shuts down it make me feel like he doesn't want to resolve the issue. So I try to stay calm and resolve the issue without raising my voice, or else he will just tune me out and not listen, if I shout at him. The differences makes our relationship very interesting, we have both learned alot of patience. Honestly, if we didn't love each other I don't think we would still be together.

  2. SIX MONTHS?! Anyway, interesting. And maybe true, maybe not. I wouldn't count on a person whose job is to field phone questions knowing whether, statistically speaking, a transferred case is more likely or less likely to be interviewed. Am I mistaken, or have we seen a significant number of people on VJ whose cases were transferred not receive an interview?

Also, I thought the "initial verification" and any requests for information was carried out by the Chicago office where we mailed the AOS application to, not the local field office, and that only after that stage would it be sent to the local field office. No? If the only purpose of the Chicago Lockbox is to forward applications to applicants' local field offices, then why are we not instructed to simply send the applications directly to our local field offices? Something doesn't sound correct to me.

    Any others have thoughts?

True or not, at this point I am no longer going to let this process get to me. I have realized that VJ is good and should be used as a guide and not as the format as to which all cases are processed, because every case is different and is handled by different people in different locations...so there is no cut and dry template. I look at it this way...we have AP and EAD, so waiting 6 months is no big deal. Believe me, I understand your frustration, but honestly, what can we do, other than wait?

UNBELIEVABLE. Liz is going to flip out.

*hugs* Cynthia, that is just horrible!! Thank you for passing on the info, that's going to help a grip of people here.

Btw, nice to see you on here again, hope hubby is enjoying the working world. (F)

Thanks for the hug Camie...I really needed that :)

Yeah, I am gonna try and stop in more often, but seems when I do...I get reminded of why I laid off the site a bit. :bonk: (it makes you crazy...lol)

Yes, my hubby is enjoying his job, He's making that ALMIGHTY DOLLAR and not cooped up in the house...lol

  3. Nobody responded to this question, so I'll re-post. Today is Day 121 since we filed. At what point will USCIS entertain an inquiry from us about the status? It's my understanding that if one calls USCIS prematurely, they will not even speak with you. What does USCIS officially consider their AOS processing time? At this point, we're thinking all kinds of possibilities, like the CSC didn't receive our file when it was supposed to be transferred.

Then again, if other Feburary filers' timelines are correct, there are other transferred cases that have not yet been processed, so I suspect we are not alone.

Congratulations to those who received or are about to receive their GC. I wish we had been given an interview, because it appears that my wife would have her GC by now.

Hello All and Congrats to all Approvals, GC arrivals and updates. We have not been here for a while...so we had some catching up to do. My husband has been working since receiving his EAD so we have been trying not to worry about the GC status. But out of curiosity we did call USCIS, the first time the system was down, the second time we did get the opportunity to speak with an IO and was told some information that we had not heard before.

Basically, we were told that cases are transferred to CSC when the local field office is behind, so CSC does the initial verification and request any information that may be needed, process EAD and AP...only on some rare occasions does CSC approves those cases but generally the cases are held at CSC and then transferred to the local field office for final approval or possible interview. So, this entire time we were thinking that being transferred to CSC means, no interview, but according to the IO that is not entirely true. As for checking the processing times online, the IO said that we should not be looking at CSC processing times, but the processing times for your local field office. The IO ended by telling us that we would have a decision or interview within 6 months.

I hope this info help others that were transferred. God Bless

  4. I hope things will go well for you and Liz, and for everyone who is still waiting. There might just be a lot of backlogs in CSC right now. Who really knows?

I don't want to hurt anybody, but I just want to share this thought. When most Feb filers got their cases transferred to CSC before, I was so envious of them that they didn't had to undergo an interview. It seems like a golden ticket, and not having that golden ticket to CSC is sad news. When I got an interview appointment, I felt not special at all but still grateful this journey was almost over. Now, members with CSC transfers aren't happy than they used to do. It seemed like the world turned upside down.

I am really sorry you had to endure this especially with all the updates from those who got interviewed like me.

I am actually wanted to shout how happy I am to get approved today, but reading your messages makes me feel your pain. A little over a month , I had no updates from USCIS regarding my EAD, so I understood how it felt to wait for the unknown. I really hope you will get updates soon.

Again, I don't know if I worded my feelings right. I'm not a native English speaker, and sorry if I may have offended anyone. Godspeed everyone.

Thanks and your feelings were conveyed perfectly, but please share your approval with excitement...despite our lack of progress we share the same joy of everyone's success.

As for being transferred early in the process, I don't think any of us really understood exactly what that meant or USCIS reasoning behind deciding to transfer our cases. From reading other prior VJ AOS threads it seemed that being transferred was the way to go. It is very clear that even though VJ gives us great advice and support through this process, everyone's case is handled differently. We were not trying to dampen your experience but this thread is here so that we can share the good and the bad experience of this process. So our heartfelt CONGRATS!!!goes out to you and your SO.

    Take care and God Bless

  5. Sorry guys/gals....I have to say this....

Please think before you tell those of us that are still waiting to have patience....my patience level is stretched very thin at the moment and having someone say that to me doesn't always sit well.

I'm not trying to be mean .... you ALL know I'm VERY happy for those who've been approved, but I do ask that you be sensitive to those that are still waiting.

Liz, I can totally relate to your frustration...

  6. I just received my Green Card :) It was the only letter in the mailbox... from Lee's Summit :D

    What a calming experience.

You all know (and most of you are still going through) the many steps and fears along the journey. To finally hold the Green Card in your hands is tremendously rewarding. It doesn't look spectacular (at least not the front - the back does look fancy with a huge silver hologram/chip thing).

I'm so used to the visa struggles that it is hard to believe that it's over for a little less than two years and that I'll finally choose a different line at the airports when they check your status :D (citizens & permanent residents left, everyone else right... !). :D :D

I hope all of you will be successful and soon hold your cards. Best wishes from the bottom of my heart, and we will surely see each other in the I-751/Removal of Conditions thread in 2012 :)

    Snivvel & Snivvel's Better Half :)

    CONGRATS!!!

  7. Hey Feb filers!!! Congrats to all approvals and updates.

As for Jackie, don't lose heart, you guys are in our thoughts and we pray that it turns in your favor.

We haven't had any action on our case since 3/8...I check the USCIS website everyday, hoping to see an update.

Hopefully, we will hear something soon.

Good luck to all the upcoming interviews and as for those that were transferred, let's try to remember that this waiting is far better than the K-1 waiting we had to endure without our SO.

    TTYAS

  8. Wow!!!!

Lots of good on here since last time i checked!!!!!!! Congrats to all!!!!

Now i know this is a stoopid question at this stage in the game, but i assumed the only way to check my status was on uscis.gov?? Now with all this talk of being "touched" im freakin out that i've missed a trick?!?!?! (We have our interview letter but uscis still says initial review for everything!!!)

Have you guys got some awesome trick up ur sleeves for finding out info some otherway? (other than the daily trek to the mail box!!)

Again congrats everyone!! hopefully the end is near!

Have you signed up for case updates @ USCIS website?

If not, sign up and after set up,

    sign in to "My Account"

all your cases will be listed

The Last updated column shows a date,

if that date changes, this means your case

    has been handled or (touched)

    I hope this helps :)

  9. Had received RFE on 03/11, it was for a complete medical. We just decided to do a new medical for $145 in SAN JOSE, CA. we want to just get it over with.

Unfortunately i could not be there with my wife to finish all this formalities. I had to rush to india urgently, my father passed away on the 11th.

Life is never fair but we have to learn to live with it..

So sorry for your loss spygame

  10. Hello all Feb filers, wow this thread has really grown. I don't have to opportunity to respond much to the posts, with working, school, my daughter and my wonderful husband....I have my hands full

I do however enjoy reading the posts and a few of you keep me laughing and making my day.

Oh, btw, we completed biometrics 3/5 we went to our originally scheduled interview...it only took about ten minutes.

Congrats to all on NOAs, Cashed checks, transfers, interview dates and so on.......

Happy Saturday, and may the postman make someone's day today.

Oh yeah and I too heard they are gonna cut Saturday mail  (Ughhhh)
