Thank you very much for quick responses. From the responses, I am guessing it's not that big of a deal if I submit a marriage license while filing I 485 if it was obtained without giving the fiance SSN. Thanks, that answers it. Getting married part is very quick and easy in the town where I live, literally 3 days! So, I will shuffle the order of SSN application and marriage license.

I was looking at the steps to be followed to file I 485 after my fiance enters the US on K1. Since, the application of SSN requires a few days for their system to get updated with my fiance's travel records, and also if I apply for SSN before getting married, I would have to get her name changed on SSN later. Does it make sense to apply for SSN with the modified name after getting married? as that would give their system enough time to get updated as well as that would also not end up me having to update her name. I checked with my towns's clerk's office and they do not require the SSN in order to apply for marriage license or certificate.

Thanks KBF for posting your traffic violations info/experience. I just happened to have mentioned it so I think I am stuck gathering all the info.

Thank you very much for a quick response. I really appreciate it.

With the N400, I also sent a Driver's History abstract that I got from DMV or MVC. But I sent in a copy. So I think I will bring the original with me. The only problem is that the abstract only mentions when I was involved in any kind of traffic violations. It doesn't say anything on it to the fact that I have paid the necessary fine and the citation has been settled.

I have had 4 violations and all of them happened in different towns not so far from where I live right now. I called couple of courts and they said that they could print out the receipt of my payment for the fines and mail them to me. I hope those along with the driver's history abstract from motor vehicle company should be sufficient for them.

I am still contemplating whether I should go in person to the USCIS office close to me to see the IO in person with InfoPass to ask them whether those are the things that they expect.

I would really like to know if something similar happened to someone and how did the interview go for them in terms of questions and the documents they were looking for.

I am looking at my CFR letter for the first time right now, they are asking me to bring my state issued driver's license which is normal, however, they have the following item on the list too:

You indicated in your application that you have been arrested. For these arrests and any other incidents in which you may have been involved, bring originals or certified copies of all arrest records and court dispositions showing how each incident was resolved.

The only reason why I think they would have mentioned this was because I listed down my 4 traffic violations until now in Part 10. D section of the n400. But none of them ended up in my arrest by anyone. So I don't know what to bring for those. Because like anyone else I have paid the fine for those and haven't saved the receipts from courts.

I don't know what to do for this one. If any one of you had something similar happen to them or know somebody who have had this issue, please let me know.

Hey guys,

Finally got my CFR letter. It has arrived since this past Monday but since I have provided one of my friend's address for all the mails, I haven't had a chance to go pick it up. But I expect it to be no different than anybody else'. If there is anything surprisingly different I will keep you posted. But since CFR is here I think the IL will arrive in a few days as well.

Hey CColdwell, congratulations!!! This is very encouraging. Mid october is perfect according to previous projections. I thought they would go much farther than that since it took so long for them to send the letter... .

I am eagerly waiting for mine. Lets see I expect to receive something by end of this week or latest by the end of next week.

deep123, if I were you I wouldn't transfer my interview to newark. It is the most unpredictable and busy places of all the centers people have filed at on this thread. if somehow you can maintain your residence in CT until interview you should seriously think about doing that. maybe just apply for change of address and give your other friend or relative's address or something for a couple of months...

by the way, i called the uscis again, and the lady said that i am still in the queue for interview date. they said that they put me on the wait list on July 20th, however no information on where they are at in the waiting list processing wise...however she said that i should get my CFR letter soon, they did not mail it out yet but it sounded like they would do that soon...

lets see...so i m suggesting whoever from one of the newark filers on this thread calls the uscis next should ask when was his/her application put in the queue and how far his/her application is in the queue....i will call them up once again next week to find out the same about my case...

Also one more piece of info. Not so good news however.

The USCIS site showing the current processing time for all the regional offices is showing a cut off date for N400 apps to be Jan 30, 2009. I remember when I checked it right before I filed my application in June and it used to say 5 months. However this was changed when they updated the info on June 30, 2009. So it sounds like the apps are backlogged and from the cutoff date the avg (on the higher side) processing time seems to be about 6-7 months.

So you mean your infopass depends on where you live but the interview appointment is clearly scheduled at Mt. Laurel right?

It makes sense for infopass but doesn't make sense for interview. I think the reason why they might have given you Mt. Laurel appointment is that Newark is probably overloaded with the applications. I am thinking some of the Newark filers will get the appointment there as well. Let's see what happens.

I think as long as you take an oath the day after your 3 years end you should be fine, your interview could happen earlier.

I think Mt. Laurel does not have same day oath.

Yeah Interview Queue doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The only thing I got out of it was that since Newark is one of the busiest field offices in the country, it might take them longer to finalize the dates for individuals, since they might be trying hard to maximize their efficiency by fitting as many people as they can in every session (Just guessing here!!!)

I inquired about my status on USCIS status line and they said that my application is in queue for an interview. So as soon as they finalize the date they will send out the IL in mail. So I think CColdwell would be the first one to receive it from all the Newark filers.

That is a bad hit. I have had my share of worst experiences with accidents and insurance companies and all. Its real pain in the b***. With no fault of your own, you are stuck with making trips to the shop every now and then and the pleasure of driving a rental car. I hope everything works out for you.

You guys are on a faster track anyways (as compared to Jersey people...), so doing FP on scheduled time won't end up being a delay, if any, in getting the Interview Letter.

Well, I was going to try to do a walk-in biometrics today, but somebody hit my car in the parking lot at work last night (I wasn't there), and didn't leave any contacts for themselves of course, except their hub cap So car is in the shop now, will go next Friday for my appt instead as scheduled and hope to get the same great service others have been reporting... Meanwhile, I am trying the 'Corn Huskers' lotion tip I saw in another forum, to hopefully improve my fingerprints...

Oh yeah. The guy was kind of not so much into what he was doing. I can understand that it could really happen to anyone who is taking people's fingerprints all day long. However, he didn't seem dissatisfied. Also, the red stamp they put on your FP NOA letter, has fields called "QA review" (QA - Quality Assurance, for those who don't know), so I think if the person signs that without making any comments, then they are primarily satisfied.

CColdwell, Please keep us posted on your experience if you decide to call the customer service to see whether you are in queue for interview or not.

Hey guys,

Done with my FP today. It was a walk-in. I tried to do it last Saturday but they were too busy. So I went in today and got it. All of the prints were between 60%-74%. Don't know how good that is but hopefully I don't have to go for it again.

It seems like Elizabeth ASC is one of the busier ASCs. They churn about 60 people per hour, just the N-400 applicants. I was impressed with their speed.

Looking at the number of people present at the ASC, I am almost certain that the Newark applicants will get the interview dates a bit farther out as compared to other centers.

I had my travel itenary printed, but they did not ask for it.

My prints were also in that range! I was so worried that they wouldn't be ok, but the person seemed satisfied. I guess I'll be crossing my fingers until a few weeks go by. Then I'm going to call and get 2nd level assistance and find out if I'm in the interview queue haha.

I'm glad that the walk-in worked out for you though! I got the same impression at Elizabeth, I feel like we're definitely going to be a few of the lingering people in June.

Hey guys,

Done with my FP today. It was a walk-in. I tried to do it last Saturday but they were too busy. So I went in today and got it. All of the prints were between 60%-74%. Don't know how good that is but hopefully I don't have to go for it again.

It seems like Elizabeth ASC is one of the busier ASCs. They churn about 60 people per hour, just the N-400 applicants. I was impressed with their speed.

Looking at the number of people present at the ASC, I am almost certain that the Newark applicants will get the interview dates a bit farther out as compared to other centers.

I had my travel itenary printed, but they did not ask for it.

My apologies...I did not notice you already received your NOA acknowledging the receipt of your application. But yeah you should still give them a call to see what is going on with your application. The latest person who is supposed to go to Elizabeth ASC on our thread seems to have received the biometrics date on 7/25 and that person has submitted the application after you. So that tells you that Elizabeth ASC being busy is not the reason why you haven't received your biometrics invitation.

Why did you send your application to Vermont Service Center? I thought all the Newark filers (or NJ residents) are supposed to send them to Texas Service Center.

That could be the reason why yours is being delayed. You should give them a call and ask if they received it OK, and if not send it again and this time to the right service center.

My NOA had the exact same content. I don't think we need to worry about that since I have received my biometrics invitation since then.

Also, you are not going to get any extra info from customer service on this. I tried it, and all they had to say was that they cannot investigate a case any further until it has already been 30 days since you submitted the information.

But like I said, I guess there is nothing to worry about since I have received my biometrics since then and haven't received any extra corrected NOAs.

Would someone mind telling me what their NOA letter said on it? I wrote earlier about receiving notice that my husband was not eligible for naturalization until 9/26/09 (that is his green card date). Today I received TWO NOA's in the mail dated July 6. They are both the same. I'm now wondering if someone realized their error and corrected it? This NOA has the statement: The above application has been received by our office and is in process. Our records indidcate your personal information is as follows:

Date of Birth: (correct date)

Address where you live: (correct address)

Please verify your personal information listed above and immediately notify our office blah blah blah.

Upon receipt of all required Records Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office.

Also it states Payment INformation as well (balance $0.00)

Please, can someone tell me if that is what your NOA's looked like? Can I assume that it has been accepted?

My NOA had the same content as yours. Most probably, as you said, they recognized their mistake and corrected it. Have you considered calling the customer service line for clarification?

Yeah it only mentions Wednesdays and Saturdays for rescheduling options...Nothing about walk-ins...

I guess the only reason why they may be allowing walk-ins at some locations is purely based on how busy they are on that day...But broadly speaking, they wouldn't want people to just show up there...Otherwise the whole purpose of giving out different dates to different people is defeated...So I will give it a try but will be prepared to go again on the scheduled date and time if it doesn't work out.
