  1. hi everybody,

i m going to my country next week, and of course the paranoia is coming every time i leave usa.

my conditional green card expired 2 months ago, now i have the letter from the I-751 removing condition.

My question is what i need in order to travel,

my expired green card and the letter?

is that all, so scared to leave the country for a month with expired GC

    thanks for your replies

I just got back to the United States and I had no problems. Before I left the country, I had my biometrics taken though.

  2. I applied to lift conditions in April, had my biometrics taken in June, was asked for more documents in July, and received my new green card in August. I went back to my homecountry in July and had no problems coming back to the US. The only thing they told me to do was to bring a copy of my marriage certificate with me next time I travel. They also told me to take my old green card to the closest immigration office. This was not said in the papers they sent me along with my new green card. Good luck everyone!

Can I ask what more documents they wanted to see for your case?

I m just sending in my packet today, and hope it will go as quick as you were.

    Congrats.

They asked for 2 affidavits, a statement written by me where I had to say how, when, and where I met my husband, when we got married ect, and then they asked for more bills, financial documents, and tax forms.

  4. Please, find attached pictures of my husband and I that we took after we got married, as well as the other documents supporting this petition.

Maybe if you could also send pics of you together before you got married, maybe that will help... pics of you and his sister may also help (supporting document/pics so they know you have contacts with his family), and if you have letters/cards (with the "stamped" letter envelop) sent to each other before and after you got married will also help so they will know how long you have known each other... Just some few things that you can send as proof of your relationship. Hope this helps.

I have a few pictures ready to send...I also have some cards but not the envelop...can i send them without the envelop?

  5. Hi everyone, I got a request for evidence and I need to write a statement where I describe where and how I met my husband, details of our courtship, marriage, wedding, list of places where we resided together, nature of my and my husband's employment ect. Here it is what I wrote. I am not done yet but I thought I would like to get some advice on how to improve it. Anything that I could add or change? Thanks for your time

I am writing this statement to support the I-751 petition by myself, name, and my husband, name. I met my husband in my hometown, name, in September 2004. My husband was serving in the army in Italy at that time. We started dating after we met and have been together ever since. He met my family after a couple of months we had started dating and after that spent almost every day at my parents’ house. We used to see each other every day and he used to pick me up from school when he was not working. In December 2005 I got to meet my husband's sister when she came to Italy to visit. In the meanwhile, I was keeping in touch with my husband’s mother as well. We got married on "date" at the lake house of my husband’s parents. It was a very small and private ceremony. The people present at the wedding were "names".I am an accounting student at "name", while my husband recently graduated from the same college with a degree in criminal justice. He is an army reservist, a part-time sheriff deputy for "name", and has a full time job as #.

Here is a list of the places where my husband and I resided together.

Please, find attached pictures of my husband and I that we took after we got married, as well as the other documents supporting this petition.

  6. Hello,

I just found this website and it's great. Anyway my question is this... My wife received a letter today from immigration telling her that her that she needs to file form I-751. I have read on this site that you should NOT file for I-751 till at least 90 days before your green card expires. Does this mean I can file any day now instead of waiting till the end of the month when it will have been 90 days?

    Thanks so much,

    Ryan

I had received that letter too and I waited untill 90 days before to file I-751.

  7. I was reading that some of you called to see if they had an interview scheduled? What number do I need to call to find out if I will have an interview to remove conditions on my green card?

Also, in case they send a letter saying that an interview is scheduled when I am not in the country, will it be possible to reschedule the interview? Thanks

We call that number/line here on VJ as mis-information, as normally they tell you what you see in online systems and most of the time don't know what they are talking about unless it you ask for a supervisor or ask nicely to talk to an Immigration Officer.

1-800-375-5283 and the magic option is 1,2,3 is get out of the maze and talk to an operator.

    Good Luck.

Today I tried to call that number but I was not able to talk to an operator...they have changed all the options since last time I called so I could not find the number I had to digit to talk to someone

  9. If your marriage is real, just give 'em what you've got and as much of what they ask for. Describe your relationship (OTHERS, note: you can do that in your cover letter) in a convincing letter (have someone qualified proof-read it before mailing it), and add photos. You should have at least a few photos showing you and your husband together at parties, vacations, activities, family gatherings, etc., don't you?

    P.S.

As a fellow immigrant I'll be glad to help anyone proofreading a document for such purposes.

Yes, my marriage is real and I have pictures of my husband and I together. I guess I'll send as many documents as possible and hopefully it'll be enough this time.

I think you got what is called RFE "Request for Further Evidence". Please submit as much documents as you can like joint utility bills, joint bank accounts, photos, I would recommend getting affidavits from friends or family, as it's is mentioned by USCIS in I-751 instruction, though it is optional but including it doesn't hurt. With USCiS always remember overload them with documents and proof. The more amo the better it is.

Send 2006-2008 tax documents, lease documents for last 2-3 years since you got married. Car loan or registration documents etc.

For a complete list of documents which will help you read this thread please.

Good Luck and let us know how it went for you.

Thanks! I had already sent the tax documents for 2006-2007...the ones for 2008 were not ready yet when I sent the I-751. Once I have all the documents ready I will post the list on here and hopefully someone will give it a look and tell me if it looks ok.

  12. Hello,

I submitted some documents to remove the condition on residence...I already got my biometrics appointment. Today I got a I-797E notice asking for more documents, such as federal tax returns, copies of leases, at least two affidavits, and a paper written by me where I describe where I met my husband, the events of my weddings, pictures, wedding invitations ect. I didn't really have a real wedding, only the witnesses were present... I have a few pictures of that day, but no wedding invitations...do you think it will be a problem?

Also, I made plan to visit my family around the end of july, for 25days...I got a notice saying that my status was extended for one year...my green card will be expired by the time I get back. Do you think they will let me back in the country?thanks
