So, I went to the SS office today to update my status, but while the lady was trying to submit the information to Homeland security she said the system was down and that SAVE booted her off. I asked her whether I need to be worried about all systems not having the correct information and if I need to come at another time, she asked me not to worry about it.

Should I be worried?

How about the option of applying for US Passport now, leaving with old passport, and when the US passport arrives have a friend/family mail it to your international address?

Done with Oath, what an experience! I got there at 8:45AM, I was through security and up to the 4th floor by 9:15AM. At 9:30, they started calling out names to collect the Oath letters and Green Cards, and to verify our information on the Naturalization certificate and sign it (same signature as on photo). There were 66 people from 31 different countries

We started off with the national anthem, and then everyone taking the oath stood up as the officer called out the different countries, raised our right hands and took the oath. After that we saw a short video with a welcome speech from the President and a song (Proud to be an American). The officer called out all the names one-by-one to pickup the certificates, and voters registration form (optional), and return to our seats. Once everyone was done we were free to leave. I was back on the road at 10:20AM.

I think each DO is really different in the way they schedule oaths and handle cases. Did you find other people that had the same situation as you did , in your DO, and when they received their letter? It is possible that they have only one day a month allocated for people who couldn't do same day Oaths. I know there is one state (can't remember which one) that has oath ceremonies only twice a year.

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I found too many conflicting answers:

Q: What does full signature mean on the Oath Letter?

a} full name in cursive (ex. first middle last in cursive)

b} everyday scribble signature (ex. fmlast in scribble)

The one i did on my photos at the interview was {b} scribble signature.

I can't believe I was so impatient, received my Oath Letter today

Take both and they can update the application if they have to, your application doesn't have to be 100% correct when you send it to them. Its better to tell them now rather than them finding out later and causing problems.

Also, take photocopies of both passports, so they can add it to your file.

I called USCIS today and asked for status based on my A#, but the rep said it could take them upto 120 days to review and approve the application. If I do not hear in 90 days, I can call them and they can ask my local office to send me a status. I guess I'll just wait.

PhillyDude411 - sorry to hear you don't have your OL yet... I would give it until Friday or Saturday's mail, and then call, and get through to 2nd line support, and ask the IO if you are in the queue for interview, date etc etc. Do you know what the date might be of the next Oath, for example if its in a courthouse, sometimes you can see their schedule online or call them to ask, and that would give you a date to work backwards from at least...

The next Oath date in Philly is on 11/10, another person that had their interview on 10/26 in Philly DO already received their OL for 11/10. I guess I'll wait till Saturday and call on Monday, just incase they sent mine for the 10th and I didn't receive it.

If my OL happens to be lost in mail, can I still attend the oath ceremony if the IO can confirm my date to be 11/10?

I passed my interview on 10/20, but haven't received my Oath letter yet, should I be worried? Historically, people have been getting their oath letter within 10-12 days...

That's strange, I just checked mine and it was touched almost 4 years after I was approved. Must be cleanup.

For those that passed the Interview, did you online case status change?

Mine still says Testing and Interview.

I see that the oath ceremony usually starts at 11AM, and you mentioned you were done in 1.5 hrs, so were you out by 12.30PM? I'm trying to see if I can take a couple hours from work to attent the ceremony.

I had my interview scheduled at 9:40AM this morning. I reached there at 9:15 and by the time I parked my car (Parking Facility by 15th and Callowhill for $8) and passed security to the second floor it was 9:30AM. There were about 8 people in the room. I reviewed the questions one last time, and was called in aroundd 10:15AM. Raised my Right hand and swore to tell the truth. Then the officer went over my Name, address, last trip outside the country, and all the yes-no questions. Took out a paper with random questions and went thru all 10 of them, even though the first 6 were correct, writing down the answers as I spoke -

1) Name one branch or part of the government. - Congress

2) How many Justices in the supreme court - 9

3) What does the Constitution do - Defines the government

4) What did the Declaration of Independence do? - Announced our independence from Great Britain

5) When do we celebrate Independence Day? - July 4th

6) We elect a U.S. Senator for how many years? - 6

7) If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President? - the Speaker of the House

8) What does the President’s Cabinet do? - advises the President

9) What is the capital of your state? - Harrisburg

10) How old do citizens have to be to vote for President? 18 and older

Read - "When is columbus day"

Write - "columbus day is in October"

Office asked for joint documents with me and my wife, since the application was based on 3 year rule. - Provided bank account documents, Joint Tax transcripts, and Joint health insurance documents.

She quickly reviewed them, asked me to sign 2 photographs, two signatures on the application, and print my full name on the application.

Told me I was approved and would receive the oath letter in 3 weeks.

I was out by 10:30AM!

So, my interview is coming up on the 20th and I need my tax transcript for 2008. I filed an extension in April and just efiled yesterday 10/06, will I be able to get the transcript by the 19th or should I just take a copy of my returns? I'm sure I'll need them since I filed based on the 3 year rule.

Hello! i guess i have to wait a little longer...

Got a letter by mail on Sat :

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the previously scheduled interview on Thu, 9/17/2009. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. We will advise you of any further action taken on this case, including any rescheduled interview information, under separate notice.

I will call them tomorrow but my guess is that they might scheduled too many people on the same day but i really have no clue.

I do have a feeling that's their problem and there is nothing wrong with my application since i did not receive any other communication requesting additional information.

Do you guys any ideas or suggestions?

Don't worry, this is very common. They probably don't have your file transfered or ready yet at you local DO. You'll get another appointment soon.

I think I need to call them if I dont get my IL by end of this week. I know its somewhere in this forum but are you guys calling (800) 375-5283? How do you get to the 2nd level IO - Just tell them all you have is an A Numer?

Me too man, I want to block this out of my mind. Tata and I had our FP at the same office same date and time, she got her IL a while back, which makes me more anxious...

I'm a UK citizen, and my passport was stolen back in 1996 and someone must have tried to use it to enter US. Ever since then, I have been stopped by Immigration officers and taken to the waiting room. its never been a big deal, but I wonder if this torcher is going to stop once I'm a USC.
