  1. Yeh when we applied, I got my EAD, drove to Portland to get it and on the way home the wife dropped me at the doors of where I work now, so we resubmitted at the interview an ammended A.o.support, and with our combine incomes we walked it.

    Good luck :)

  2. Hi,

Ive got a friend whos going through AOS, its been 2 years since I have done it and im not sure of the answer, so im gonna ask you guys.

Entered on a K1.. filed for AOS....has to go for fingerprinting..... then what,

when does the FBI name check come into play in all of this, will he get his interview before or after the fbi + backgroudnd check.

Can I assume that if and when he gets issued with his I-551 then he will have passed the fbi checks?

Again its ages since i did this and I cant remember the details.

  3. Not from what I read, I will try and find the article again for you, I guess you could have first time had James Bond, stick on finger prints or something... but as I said look on the bright side, no more uscis for 10years.

I asked this question about biometrics a while ago about the $70, and the same day I was reading a news report that says that immigration fee's are to go up in price (and quite a lot, from what I recall this one is going to be around $1000), so at least we're getting away with it pretty cheap.

  4. Don't even get me started on the $70 biometric fee..... they have my fingerprints, they dont change, they are not going to check them again, so in reality Im paying $70 for a passport photo, the fact that its almost a 500 mile round trip is what bothers me most, with gas at almost $3.30 a gallon, its going to cost me almost $70 in gas, and a day missed off work (not that missing a day bothers me, but im having to use a vacation day).

The only good thing is that after this you are done with uscis for 10 years or so.

  5. Yes,

when my wife gave birth to our son in the UK, we registered the birth at the registery office, then a few years later (my wife is american, Im english), when we were doing the visa thing, we went to london where we registered the birth abroad (this was in 2004, it may have changed) my son has a UK and US passport, and most importantly, he can play football for man united :)

  6. I'm confused.

First you asking about the instructions, which seem crystal clear to me. The fee information is clearly printed there. I don't know what a public order in the UK is, but if you fit the criteria of the instructions on the form, follow them.

Question 3 is answered clearly in the uscis.gov page "How Do I Remove the Conditions on Permanent Residence Based on Marriage?" and in post 4 of the pinned forum thread.

And now you're concerned that you're not doing *what* right? Have you reviewd the page cited above? Is your card expiring?

Don't make it hard; it's really not! :)

No it really is hard, its complete and utter bollocks, making you fill in multiple forms, 17 times in 2 years, and pay astronomical fee's, making you get fingerprints again, after only 18months... why do they need yet another set of my fingerprints, have I got new fingerprints, err I dont think so... I have better things to spend my money on then $70 for fingerprints, I mean comeon...

  7. As I said before my Permanent Resident card date is May, so after doing some research last time, Im just getting this form complete... just a few questions.

    1) Biometric again? Is that right, If I can save the $70 then Im all for that.

    2) Criminal History, it says... If you have ever been arrested or detained by any law enforcement,....... does that mean in the US or anywhere? as later on in the form is says... part 3 section 7...

"Have you ever been arrested, detained, charged, indicted, fined or imprisoned for breaking or violating anylaw or ordianance (excluding traffic regulations), or committed any crime which you were not arrested inthe United States or abroad?"

Reason being I had a public order in the UK, which I admitted (even though it was not on my record), do I need to explain this again?

    3) As my card expires in May, as long as I file before May, would I be right in thinking that my card does not expire?

    Thanks

  8. Ok so right now im on AOS for a K1-Visa, and my AOS expires in may, err this might sound strange but what next do i need to do any more interviews? how much will the next stage cost me, when do I apply, will my work visa cancel before the next stage is done?

After i do this next stage, is there anymore? i hate filling paperwork in, and the waiting.

    thanks

    Jason

I did try read the FAQ above but it keeps telling me the board is offline?

Sorry, can't make sense out what you wrote. An AOS doesn't 'expire'.

What stage are you actually at; other questions can't be addresed til then.

Ive got my permanent resident card, I did aos 2years ago next may.
