Money WILL make this situation go away. I understand what he is saying as that is the VN culture that the children take care of the parents when they get old... tell him that if she is here she will be able to take better care of him than if she is there... $$$$$

There are drawbacks to both visas... in either case, the best thing to do is be well prepared for the entire process before starting it. Know what is required exactly and when it is required. Do a great deal of reading here to get an understanding of the hurdles others have hit and this will help you to avoid them.

Several posts made by DQ removed and account banned...

Buy plenty of hangers, Find the local Vn markets... wait to buy foods etc and do that together so she is able to take ownership of the tasks rather than feeling like she is walking into a prepped hotel...

Sorry gang.. I didn't realize DQ had slipped in...

Marriage is not something that one should jump in with both feet without checking to see how deep the water is... The two cultures are very different and all too often the expectations of both parties are not realistic or understood fully by the other.

Bad info, they DO approve fiancé visa's
-
They asked my stepson a few questions but not an actual interview IMO. What are you going to do when you get there.. "go to Disneyworld"
-
depends on the day of the week that it is approved...
-
Depends on the person and where it is being done.. some take longer than others..

She should be able to get citizenship based on her marriage to a VN citizen.

Hello there:
I have questions regarding to the Police Certificate. Is it 1 of requirement documents apply for all applicants (whether traveled out country or not?) My Fiance is not been travel out country at all so Police Certificate requires for who traveled or requires for all applicants? Anyone? Please advise. Thank you.
Every filer MUST submit a recent Police certificate for every country they have resided in for more than 6 months. If the Fiance has lived in VN the entire life then the VN police cert is the only one required. no visa can be issued without a police cert.

The IRS does not require you to file by the 22nd, so DoS can't require that you file, but they can ask to see the w-2 etc at the interview... easy enough to play it safe and send copies of those recent 1099 or w-2's for 2012 filing if you have not yet filed.

My wife and I have our CR1 visa interview in a couple weeks. However, I'm uncertain about something in the document list at the end of the appointment letter from NVC. In the left column is the name of the document and in the right column is a letter indicating document status. The first document in the list is "CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS" and the status is C, indicating that we should ask the consulate for instructions about this document. Unfortunately, the inquiry section of the consulate website only allows you to choose from a drop-down list of questions. There is nowhere to type in a question not on the list.
Can anybody tell me what "CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS" is?
the only correspondence with the consulate from you will be via the online form, hand deliverey, or by mail. They may call or send mail, they rarely email. All the info you need is at the website.

You should be able to bring a hand full of iphones in your pockets without raising suspicion if you wear the right clothing.
If you have bulging pockets, then that is a different story. If you are bringing a bunch of ipads... Yeah.
How would one get through those final scanners with them without raising attention? OK empty your pockets load your luggage on this scanner etc... thats just an HCMC thing...
-
use the online form to ask the consulate in HCMC what the process is.. they should be aware of the VN requirements given that they issue the US passports for CRBA.

With small electronic devices, you can put them in your pocket, I haven't been tagged for items in my pocket.
depends on how many and what types...

engagements mean very little
they are not legal
they are just a promise
you must be engaged
if it was a few months before the divorce (mine was too)
it means nothing
I was not able to see her based on my overseas committments
so we got engaged when we had a chance to meet
different countries may have a culture that does stress this more than others
but the US embassy should not
good luck anyway
This post was made in the Vietnam regional section and clearly you are not familiar with the Vietnam customs and the HCMC consular protocols.. It can be a HUGE thing in VN....

Do NOT buy the ticket before you get the visa in hand.. change fees are much higher than anything you could save by buying early.
