  1. I think your NVC process is a 'best-guess', alas.

    alas indeed.

apparently theres is another vj-ers who is waiting for her interview in May, and got an OK from NVC without CNCC.

i asked her to share with us if she can get any oficial letter instead of waiting for 221g -.-

to me, if you can get thru NVC by submitting that notice...by all means get thru it.

its easier to do/track whatever locally. But NVC / SGP US Consulate should really look into this particular issue.

They dont think 3-4 weeks is that long.....jeez!

  2. Yay! Congrats on your visa approval! :)

Also, since you've just been through the process here, I have a question about the Singapore consulate... are accordion type folders allowed into the embassy for the interview? Or only plastic bags? I ask because http://www.ustraveldocs.com/sg/ (which is linked from the US embassy in singapore website) says the following items are not allowed due to security reasons

Is this information correct and up to date?

    Thanks!

    THanks for the Info :)

and yes, its fine. you just say that they might need all the documents inside that folder. your bag and your mobile phones will be stored by the security, and they will ask you to make sure that youve got all documents to bring in with you.

  3. Okay guys this is recent and im sure some ppl can be stucked because of this, and this can push you back 3-4weeks.

So in Oct 2010, Singapore Police HQ stopped giving CNOC (certificate of non-criminal) to non-Singaporean. THey made it clear on theirwebsite, in their building and have a blue color notice that you can take.

The same blue color notice is what i sent to NVC and got their 'OK' ONLY to be given 221g by Singapore consulate at the interview date later on.

This made me so confused and upset.

On that notice, it says, an alternative is to get Statutory Declaration from any approved lawyer (they have the list on website) - SGD 20bucks

WHich i obtained but the 221g says SD is not sufficient. and between Dec 2010 and mar 2011 they have made the agreement with Police HQ to issue CNOC to US Immigrant Visa Applicant. This sounds like the CNOC office will just give you. BUT NO.

They will ask you to appeal to apply!!!

And you can only appeal if you have any documents that says (GUS THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT):

" Statutory Declaration is not sufficient - need CNOC"

Only then, you are able to fill up an appeal. SO DONT WAIT for 221g. ASK, GET, HAGGLE whatever you need to do...while you are preparing your package in your NVC stage, to GET any formal letter that says that.

THis will save you 4weeks ,at least, of yr time.

once Appeal form has been filled-up, it will take 5working days. Call them on the 5th and confirm your appeal has been approved. Around 4-5pm.

On the 6th working day, go there and fill-up an application form for CNOC. cost you 50dollars. and 10working days.

The part that is confusing is that, FOR MY CASE: I did this after 221g

so when my applicaton was done, Singapore police HQ sent it to US Consulate here.

But what you need to ask, is whether you can collect it and send it to NVC together with your other docs, OR

you can tell NVC that your CNOC, is already with Singapore US Consulate. - GUYS you need to check this part.

Anyway if you want to ask anything else, feel free to email me at calvinyulee@gmail.com

This is for you guys who will need to get Singapore Police Certificate. There maybe another update, im not sure, but this is what i experienced and valid as of today.

  4. Today is the 3rd time I went to Singapore (SGP) US Consulate this month.

1st of march - for my interview as per scheduled (221g - SGP Police Certificate)

9th of march - to clarify contradicting information (re. the Pol Cert vs US Consulate)

30th of march - submitted my password (Collection time: 8th of April)

Man...its been a long time since 22nd of June 2010. I didnt even take my time slowly.

2 RFES - silly mistake on I864 and guesss what....SINGAPORE POLICE CERTIFICATE.

this SGP Pol Cert is really thorns in our flesh. Had a bad feeling about it in Oct 2010 when Sgp police HQ said they dont give anymore cert to non-Singaporean. SEnt info to NVC....months later, REF -.-

Acquired another letter/notice from Police HQ. This time in Dec approved.

6th january 2011 (my bday) - inteview was scheduled for 1st of march.

1st of March - inteview went smooth, swore, not additional docs asked, no funky questions BUT they said now they have come to an agreement with SGP Police Dept. to allow non-Singaporean to obatin certificate of non-criminal (CNOC) - was given 221g which says Statutory Declaration not sufficient. CNOC is needed. THIS IS NEW. THIS MUST BE between Dec 2010 to Mar 2011 (the fact that NVC was alrite with me not submitting the CNOC).

So fine okay, i went to Police HQ with application form ready. BUT NOOO, i cannot apply yet. I have to APPEAL to APPLY.....*&%*&%%&^$#$##3

    this takes 1 week.

thats fine okay, so 1 week passed, i then APPLIED. now it takes 2 weeks to get approval !@#@#!@!#

finally today I went there again, and submitted my Passport and was notified to come back 8th of April to collect.

IT has been a long journey guys and im gonna write a thread on Singapore Police Certificate which Im sure might help someone in the future.

But Im done. Bought me ticket and ready to go. We got married 21st of April, my ticket is on 22nd of April

Can anyone confirm that i can ask at POE to change to IR-1? coz i asked the consulate here, they can but only when i come back to them after 21st of april.

So anyone who has ever done that, (APPLIED CR-1 and HAVE IT CHANGED to IR-1 at POE) pls let me know if its possible.

Thank you guys, good luck and always be patient and pro-active in every situation.

    Cheers!

  5. Anybody got similar message after emailing to DS-3032 to NVC?

    Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The NVC is unable to add third party contact information to the case record at this time. Please continue to notify the NVC if your address changes.

If a period of one year passes from the last date of contact with the NVC (by email, telephone or mail), all submitted fees and documents will expire. In that case, your fees will need to be repaid and documents will need to be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.

    Too early Art.

i think about the same time your AOS fee is ready to be paid, you can send in the Choice of Agent again.

afterwhich your IV bill should be up and ready to be paid.

    others can CMIIW.

  6. Thanks, Atencio! It very much could mean that the NVC hasn't scanned my DS-230, just like TeyaV suggested. I'll call tomorrow and see what the operator says.

Man, I'm so ready for case complete!

    Me too....

but i have some more days to go looking at the trend.

AVR changed this weekend to "missing / requesting biographic information " blah

been reading much around the forum and it should most likely to be the IV package that i sent 8 days later after AOS package.

    hopefully.

cant wait for NVC operator :)

  7. thank you...

We did not receivedf any mail from NVC yet..I hope its gonna be soon or we will able to reach a person to talk at NVC...

hi you will not get any email from NVC just yet.

TRY and TRY and TRY to get HUMAN to give your email addresses and ask your IIN from them.

    handle that one first.

DS-3032 email, you can try sending it after you receive your 'DS-3032 kit' thru email

MEANWHILE (IF you already talk to human and get your IIN) you can keep logging in to see if your AOS can already be paid.

ill see you in 7 days. :) (atleast thats how long it took to see my AOS fee is ready to be paid)

    GUYS,

    got invoiced today :)

    can I ask anyone?

What does Print clearly or type your answers using CAPITAL letters.? DOes it mean I CAN write or CANNOT write?

Type means type writer? and hand writing

  8. Same here  Thanks for the congrats

Yes that is what I mean...Once I received my IIN from the "live" operator, I've been checking online almost daily at the payment portal. It finally showed up today...I really expected it to say "Not Invoiced"

Got it! called up and get our IIN. logged in and tada! NOT INVOICED :)

well looking at your timeline, about 3 more days, i can look it up again.

    THANKS AYA

  9. Hi Combi,

I received our IIN number at the same time I gave the operators our email addresses. BTW, I got the standard 6-8 weeks  as well as the same email response regarding the DS-3032...I sent too early also.

Today I just received my AOS bill and paid it, but still waiting for IV bill. As yet I haven't received any email from NVC. Look at my signature timeline for dates.

Thanks for the reply. so it is possible. but still have to wait.

when you say you have just received my AOS, but not yet received any email,

do you mean that you go into the payment portal to check? otherwise how else would you have found out that you have received your AOS bill?

  10. Soo...

my wife (USC) gave the tele-operator our email addresses, after which the tele-operator said wait 6-8 weeks. Thats normal right? as in it is their scripted answer.

also I guess I emailed DS-3032 too early, coz within 12hrs I got a reply:

    "Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The NVC is unable to add third party contact information to the case record at this time. Please continue to notify the NVC if your address changes.

How long normally after giving yr email addresses, you get something from NVC?

So i will be waiting for the 'kit' to be able to start paying?

or shud i keep bugging them for the IIN?

Can I get the IIN (thru tele-operatoer) before receiving the 'DS-3032 kit' in our inbox? Is that possible?

  11. Hi,

We have been sending in the choice of agent thru email since we got the case # assigned. Its been over a week, and no automated response nor has it been accepted. I am sending from a gmail account, u think its being filtered as spam. I did express mail copy last week too.

    Guys,

i think im missing something here, over and over I read the NVC guide/shortcut, I cannot find one that says you can send an email RIGHT AWAY,

or the next day after you hear your NVC Case number has been generated. Am I wrong? Because it says, and I quote from LinChe's guide:

"Even though you have an NVC number, your case information still needs to be manually input before anything else can happen.

Until such time that documents are fully loaded in, NVC will not generate or accept DS-3032 (Choice of Agent) via email or US Postal Mail."

So my question is, is the guide still valid?

and also, if the guide/shortcut still valid, can I still create my own barcode?

if the link to the barcode generator still valid, it will show a text under the barcode but they are small (barcode as well 0.05 x 0.5),

can I paste it DS-3032 form that I dl-ed from the website and send it?

Also, can I scan the form and E-mail it?

    TIA

  12. hi peeps:

    just an update

NOA-2 approved on the 4th (for your comparison)

NVC case# entered 12th of nov.

found out today, updating my time line :)

but the :( is that Ive just gotten fingerprints from local police to be attached to Australian Federal Police check clearance form. So I sent that out to Canberra today.

That will take 15working days :( , my DS-230 will not complete without it. Looking at people's timeline, it takes only 15-20 days after NVC case number is assigned, to send DS-230. am I right? or even earlier than that. So this cud potentially be the one holding back.

Im aiming 4th week of January to have an interview here in Singapore? is that too optimistic?

will do first thing first now.

  13. thank you for this infos. so do i just go to a lawyer and have it then. if there is any updates or changes i hope you can share it with us! thank's in advance! good luck.

Hi I just received another reply from Singapore Consulate:

My follow-up question after the initial question was:

"So what about the visa requirement which requires this? Does this mean I do not need Police Certificate from Singapore anymore?

I can accept this but would the NVC accept this? "

The reply that i got says:

"Yes, since this is the what the Singaporean authority is doing. "

I can forward you this email to whoever needs this. Let me know. PM me.

I can safely say, you are not required to have Singapore Police Certificate anymore (IF you are non-Singaporean citizen), this is latest development, Please make sure you have exhausted every source in confirming this. As for me, I will print this email as reference.

Hope this helps someone out there.

  14. Well that depends if the church certificate is legal in Singapore. You need to find that out first. In NYC a religious marriage that is performed is considered valid even without a marriage license AND the federal government will allow you to file taxes as married in NY with just a religious marriage certificate. It is something very unique for NYC so theoretically in NY you cant get married religiously and act like you are married and then marry again with a license at city hall because the second is seen as legally invalid.

So be very careful with this situation. You should consult a lawyer. Dont rely on opinions on here. Seriously.

Yes, i asked my wife to seek for legal advice there.

    thanks.

  15. But which certificate did you already use? Was the US marriage first or second?

If you used the second on then you're already in trouble because the second marriage is not valid as neither of you was legally able to enter into another marriage.

Actually, looking at the cert its just Church certificate so in fact I think we did the right thing using US one.

hopefully this is not a problem right?

  16. Exactly correct. All this "thinking of using..." nonsense needs to be purged from your head and replaced with truth telling. It's impossible to predict how much damage you've done but the first lies were told when you applied for a license to marry in the USA when you were already married. If you then used that marriage certificate and marriage date to file a petition, you may well have committed a material misrepresentation, the consequence of which is usually a lifetime ban from the USA. What would happen if you simply continue the process using consistent information is unknown but if IR1 status in the USA is your goal, simply delay the US entry until after the anniversary. A CR1 visa holder who enters after the two-year anniversary of marriage to the USC, will be granted IR1 status.

    Thanks for the advise.

    I will use consistent information.

  17. Hi Guys,

we got married twice, thinking that having a marriage certificate from US, would be better.

for our I-130 we used the US Certificate of Marriage and Date.

Reason, because we didnt know the difference between CR-1 and IR-1.

Now our Singapore Marriage certificate is 1st Jan, and Im thinking of using it for our NVC Journey, which obviously will need some explanations.

because now that we are in NVC, Im pretty sure (being optimistic) that we can get the visa before April. and therefore enter US before 2 years of our wedding anniversary and therefore, well you know, CR-1 instead of IR-1.

Any of you has experienced this before and/or whether this would affect our NVC journey, if I were to give the Singapore Marriage Cert and use the date in DS-230?

Or perhaps I shud include both? and give explanation?
