  1. I've been meaning to post this for a few months, but just now had the time. We had a bit of a problem at the Houston airport in September. I flew to Houston to meet my fiancee, who was flying in from her country. We planned to then fly out together to my city. I didn't leave the secured area after arriving, and proceeded instead to ask the person at the "Terminal Information" booth where I should wait. The very nice lady at the "Terminal Information" booth told me to wait where I was, (in Terminal E, just across the bridge from Terminal D), that my fiancee would go through passport control and customs, and come up the escalator. This was incorrect information. They actually come out downstairs.

Just a little "heads up" for anyone meeting your loved one at Point of Entry at the Houston airport.

  2. We only have one civil surgeon within 120 miles. My wife (I meant wife, not fiancee in my original post--only married 5 weeks) is freaking out because of all the women she knows in this area who came to the U.S. on K1, she is the only one who even had to file the I-693, and now she is being told by the idiot nurse that she also has to have a medical exam, even though I showed the nurse the instructions which say she doesn't.

It is my intent when this is all over to report this civil surgeon to the American Medical Association for performing uneccessary medical procedures on patients--seems like they would frown on that sort of thing. I will also be writing my congressman about the need for immigration reform in the Civil Surgeon area. If enough people start making noise about this, maybe we can do something about these theives.

  3. I am wrestling with the nurse at the Civil Surgeon in Amarillo, Texas (Dr. Phillips) about whether they can sign the I693 without performing an entire medical examination. I have given them a copy of the official instructions which say my fiancee does not have to have another physical examination, but they argue that the instructions require the Civil Surgeon to certify that he performed it. How to you convince the Civil Surgeon that he doesn't have to perform the medical examination?

  4. My fiancee is applying for her social security number; she did not obtain temporary authorization to work. The application for a Social Security Number requests that you check a box describing your citizenship as : "Legal Alien Allowed to Work", "Legal Alien Not Allowed to Work", or "Other". If you check either of the last 2, the instructions say you have to provide documentation from a Government agency explaining.

My first thought was that the correct answer would be "legal alien not allowed to work", but given the requirement for additional documentation, I am second guessing myself. What is the correct answer?

    Thanks!

  5. My fiancee arrives in the U.S.A. soon, so I've started working on the AOS paperwork and have some questions:

    1. Do you really have to do a new G-325a?

    2. If we have to do a new G-325a, do we use her address in the U.S.A., or do we provide exactly the same information as provided in the G-325a we submitted for the K1 visa?

    2. In all these AOS forms, do we use her new (my) last name, or do we use her last name from the K1 stage?

    3. Do I really have to provide another letter from my employer and bank for the financial responsibility form, even though I already provided one for the K1, or can I just submit a photocopy of the one I submitted in the K1 paperwork?

    Thanks!

  6. Hey check this one out:

    http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/readta...ch=15&rl=91

It doesn't look like Ukraine has the reciprocity.

I saw that link, but it lists the UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLICS, which made me think (a) the link is very old, and (B) Ukraine had been a part of the USSR and so maybe Ukraine still has reciprocity.

I emailed the Texas Department of Transportion, but I haven't heard back yet. You would think this information would be easy to find :-[

  7. My fiancee is coming the the United States in 2 weeks, Texas law says a person from another country is allowed to drive with her driver's license from her home country for up to a year if the United States and that country have reciprocity. Does anyone know where to find out if the United States and Ukraine have reciprocity for Driver's Licenses? I've spent an hour googling this and haven't found the list.

    Thanks!

  8. After waiting months, we got our NOA2, with an expiration date of September 20. Now my fiance needs a police certificate from Belgium because she lived there for 2 years.

Do any of you know the most expeditious way to get this? This is all that we are waiting for to schedule her interview in Kyiv.

    Thanks!
