  1. Wow. What GREAT news! It's been a long time coming and I'm so happy for the favorable outcome.

It got a little crazy there in the end with the illnesses and all, but you MADE it and you DESERVE it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

You're so right about the dubious ice sources. You have to be so careful. Usually the people who are native to the area are immune or wise to the bugs, but sometimes stress can adversely affect your immune system too.

I am more than happy to see this happening to you and your husband, congratulations.I am so excited about this and I am very glad too.I have been looking out here to read the goodnews from you guys..I thank the good Lord who made this happen.CONGRATULATIONS once again..

  2. Hello everyone I wanna say thank you to all vj members for their support over the years and the advice too during the process..here is my story I and my wife met in the summer in 2008,we both hit it off almost immediately and we knew we were both meant for each other..Well I knew it would be a hard journey and a difficult one for me but I never anticipated for long and stressful one..My wife came to Egypt in October 2008 to meet me then I was studying then and thereafter we both came to Nigeria to meet my family and for the wedding arrangement and we were together for 21 days..My family was very happy to meet her and friends as well and we visited so many places both in Egypt and Nigeria. She left back to the States with her two daughters and we were all crying cuz we really knew we would be missing each other..When she got back home she filed the CR1 petition which was approved in January 2009.We met again the second time in April 2009 after 6 months we last saw. This led to my wife getting pregnant and in June 2009 I was scheduled for an interview at the Lagos consulate. The consular officer recommended revocation after I was interviewed for few minutes..We were so sad that this came up and we really didn't know why I was been denied and then my wife contacted the consulates and she was told that the petition will be forwarded to the USCIS..Here comes the real journey and she contacted her senator and researching more here with advice from Afrislaqueen,Nigeria or bust and many others that I really cannot mention their names now.My wife was ready to refile and the vj members told us not to and that we should just wait and then I learnt that the waiting time is 2 years for consular returned cases..So we kept on sending in our evidences through the senator to the USCIS and finally our family was blessed with the most handsome baby in the world which I named a full Nigerian name and my wife was really happy about it..It was really an emotional roller coaster as I couldnot hold him then other than seeing him on cam and his pictures and we were always crying every time knowing what my wife goes through alone and the commitments on her..We were contacted in March 2010 to our surprise for rebuttal and before now the senator got the reason why I was denied the visa back in October 2009 and to our surprise the consular officer said my wife was previously married which I know that she was not and they said I do have limited knowledge about my wife..So here comes the rebuttal and I have read earlier on vj that you should prepare for the rebuttal in less than 2 weeks this is what I do keep on telling her..So by the time we were contacted for the rebuttal we were more than prepared for this and she wrote her rebuttal and mine too cuz I was the one the c.o was trying to hold on this as I have applied for 2 different visas that was previously deied in 2005 and 2006..We sent in our 2 rebuttals and all the we have together(it was really much as my wife has done her official name change too).In just 4 days the we were finally approved and sent to NVC in two weeks and in 2 months I had in interview in Lagos consulates again asking me to return...When I got there onn my scheduled interview I discovered that my name was not on the list of those to be interviewed and I was really worried cuz my appointment was 10am..I was called at about 12 noon and by a young female consular officer who asked me just few questions and she finally told me about the outcome of my interview and I was told to get the new medicals done cuz I last did one more than a year ago and my wife's recent income tax statement..The C.O told me that there wont be no more interview that I should just bring in those two items on any day of the week except friday 1pm..The two stuffs were ready in 3 days I got to the embassy again and I was handed the ultimate appointment letter to pick up my visa in one week..I collected my visa and headed for the United States on saturday June 26 and arrived USA on 27th June Sunday we are being reunited again after the 19 months of wait..I am home now with my family enjoying the nice and beautiful weather of the U.S and now am waiting for the arrival of my green card and everyone has really ..I wanna say thanks to all vj members for your support, encouragement and advice everytime.

  3. Please I want someone who have similar experience to make there contribution and to advice us on what to do..I appreciate those who have contributed to our last post especially when my husband was denied the CR1 visa on the basis of relationship meant for immigration purpose..On September 8,2009 the USCIS updated our case and stated that its been re-affirmed without contacting us or getting any notice or something and shipped to DOS for further visa processing..On September 14 the same petition was returned back to USCIS again asking for request to review our case again..I am worried and after been happy for 6 days checking online again and discovered that it is no longer approved. My question is what do we do now, attorneys said they cannot help,my senator could not get the reason why we were denied, they told him that what we saw on the website was a mistake. The embassy in Lagos is not helping us at all...I will really appreciate whoever that could give us a good advice on what to do.Thanks

Thanks for your contribution..The latest on my case is that my senator tried to find why my hubby was denied the CR1 visa and the mail we received is that he had little knowledge about me.This is not true as he was asked 14 questions which he answered perfectly.the questions

ranges from my work, family and where I schooled.Another reason the consular denied him was that he claimed I have been married before.I have never been married and he was asked this question 3 times and he said no.This is the truth I wonder where the CO got his information from.I read in the letter that my hubby could not provide any verifiable evidence to our ongoing relationship..This is also far from the truth cuz the CO did not gave him any chance to see all the documents I sent to him.He only asked to see our wedding pictures and emails only. There were many docs in the suit case that Benny took to the embassy and he was not given the chance to see any of this...I called the US consulate in Lagos and I was told that that was insignificant to why he was denied cuz I have been married before and he did not know..I told her that they are making mistake on this and that I sent an email to this effect and to authenticate our marriage to the Consular who interviewed him ..am still awaiting response from the CO in charge...Now I am confused about this, the petition was re-affirmed and they claimed its a mistake on their website and now the consulate responded by a false information about our union and someone saying something else again..I hope someone could really advice us on what to do.I have been trying to contact everyone and I could feel that we are just been treated unfairly in this whole process...I will appreciate any one with very good advice or who has similar experience..thanks

  5. Today we have been able to get a good attorney for our case and he said we should re-file,he is charging $3000 for all..This is reasonable to others my wife had talked to since I got denied.I could see clearly that not all the immigration attorneys are professional and what will be good for us.My wife has come to Africa twice in six months to see me and we are expecting our baby in few months and I was told about the DNA evidence to prove my paternity of the child and for them to know that our relationship is not meant for immigration purpose has the consular officer said...My question is that is it good that we are no longer considering the APPEAL OR THE MOTION TO REOPEN..Also I wanna know if I should wait for the baby to be born before refiling another petition cuz by then we will have the baby's birthcertificate to prove that our marriage being consumated. I think the period of the next interview might be closer as I really feel upset by the refusal of the consular officer who beleived cuz we had a short engagement or how we met online means that our relationship is fraud..I wanna hear your advice on this and whoever that have similar experience should kindly share there experience..

  9. You need to start by reading this forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3896

You will find some answers there.

    Good luck (F)

I'm sorry to hear your news - I imagine this was a shock for you, and I'm not sure what all you've gone through. I know many have been denied visa's at Lagos and other Embassy's. I believe if your case was just denied you need to try to get it not to leave Lagos and act fast! I'm not sure if you have legal counsel or can get it, but I would try to now. Sometimes a case can stay 2 months in Lagos, othertimes they forward it on in a week or two... if you can keep it there for a reinterview you have got to try! I believe some people contact state Senator's too at this point in the game.

Keep in mind that an consulate interviewer cannot deny a visa - they've likely recommended it be revoked and are sending it for review back to the US at a service center for immigration where uscis will determine the facts and allow you a rebuttal. But the review can take some disheartening amount of time. So I really urge you to speak to someone who can give you very accurate and fast advice - there may even be a step by step guide on this site that I am not aware of.

Also keep in mind that many people are denied and the denial is overturned or the needed proof to overcome any objection is shown and your petition is sent back through the system and back onto what would be Lagos in your case.

I was trying to find out if it is you or your mate who went to the interview? Either way you need to write down every detail you can remember of that interview, remember the ascending order such as walked through gate, such and such happened, went to this room, such and such happened. Write down the name/and/or description of the interviewer. Then try to remember with complete accuracy all questions and answers - no guesses - just what you remember. The goal is to try to find out why you may have been denied. For example, if any answers to questions are a bit off from the answers on the approved IR-1 that is an problem. Or if the person being interviewed refuses to answer a question - there are many points to look at.

You should have been informed why there was an denial.

I'm suspecting it has to do with having met on the internet??? All internet relationships will be looked at with suspicion, really actually anyone who walks in the door for an interview is likely considered suspicious - you can only present all the evidence that is contrary to that suspicion. So many people meet by internet that marriage fraud has become a huge concern - perhaps it makes you feel like your relationship is degraded and that could be heart breaking, because from your words you asked if it is a crime to meet on the internet. Hang in there, because while many use the internet to committ crime - it is the individual that matters, you need to gather proof that discounts whatever proofs they have. In the end perseverence and the truth prevail! Hang in there.

    All the Best

I appreciate your contribution to what I posted last time.My wife is taking up this issue, she has contacted some attorney there in the US and I am hoping that something would come out of this. The petition has been forwarded back to the NVC according to the email the Lagos embassy sent to my wife's email addy...We met online in August and she was convinced about me after we have been able to talk for several hours daily and she decided to come to Africa with her two kids..We both love ourselves and I have been married twice before but I have no kids..The first question the consular officer asked me was who my petitioner was?

how did you meet this woman?

whats the name of the site?

what does she do? I explained to him the work that my wife do and how she get paid

when did you meet for the first time?

how long were you together? i told him we have met twice in 6 months and in 2 different countries

he asked for the pictures and emails

I have not had any criminal record in every countries I have stayed

well finally i asked him to let me show him some evidence that I have,he said no..I had so much stuffs to really show him and then he was typing on the computer in his system and I knew he was ready to deny my application..He told me that our relationship was meant for immigration purpose..

I am hoping that the case could be reviewed or the attorney my wife contacted aked for $15000 and we are both getting all the necessaary docs needed..I hope someone could get us necessary information I will be glad to hear from you..Thanks
