  1. We just got interviewed a couple days ago. My husband also got laid off just before we filed for AOS and I was worrying all the time if the it would affect the decision. We had co-sponsors (his parents). At the interview, in relation to that, the IO just asked how long my husband had been unemployed, and what was his occupation. That was it and we were approved!!!

thanks so much for Your reply! However, my husband had a job when we send in the application he just got laud off now before the interview and he is on unemployment. I don't know what we have to do. Maybe they will decline us and tell us we need to get a co sponsor.

  2. My husband got laid off a few weeks ago and has still not found another job. I assume that this is not good news for us? However, I got my employment card so I am starting my job at the end of Mars. Also, I can prove that I have received some money from my parents to survive. I mean, life happens! He had a job, when we applied and he will get one soon again but do we have to be worried?

Also, our interview is coming up March 9th. Is there anything in specific we should think about?!

    Thanks!!!!

  3. Hi,

I have a question - Me and my husband got married at the city hall in NYC in the beginning of July, none of our closest family was present since we are planning to have a "real" wedding later. So, even though my brother was not present at our wedding, can he be our affidavit? I just feel that they would prefer have family members as proof rather than friends. Anyone who have an idea?

    Thanks so much,

    Nina

  4. Hi,

I am in the process of filing all the forms and here are my questions:

    1. Since I entered the US legally on the VWP, USCIS and every lawyer I have spoken to are telling me the same, that it is without any problems for me to get married on the VWP and to send in the application after my visa expires which is tomorrow!!!! Anyways, I am still worried, cause from tomorrow I will be here on a "out of status" status!!! My question is since they will ask me if i intended to get married WHAT proof from Sweden should I start collecting? Again, I have been here since 2004, and I do not have any assets like house, apt, car, or even a job back home in Sweden. I can ask the company I was working as a freelance for a few weeks before coming here to write me a letter, and I have my bank account there, my proof of ticket back to Sweden (which is tomorrow, but I will not be using). What should I do? Is that going to be enough?

    2. On the I-765 form they are asking me what i am applying for:

    a. permission to accept employment

    b. replacement

    c. renewal of my permission to accept employment

Since during my OPT year here I received a employment authorization card, does that mean I should put C?

    Thanks for your answers!

    Nina

  5. First and foremost, thanks everyone who answered my previous message!!! You were of big help!

Now, I got married with my husband last weekend, and now I have a bunch of questions regarding all the forms:

    1-485

They are asking me for my SS and Alien number. I have a old SS and Alien number from my OPT that I got from my F-1 Visa. I know my alien number has expired, but what about my SS number, does that ever expire???? What answer should I put for SS and Alien number?

    I-131

When they are asking about how many trips I am intending to use this document should I check One trip or More than one trip? I mean, I do not know now how many trips I will go on. Also, how long is this Advance Parole for? Do I have to use this till I get my Green Card? And how soon will I get my Green Card?

    I-765

Again, here they are asking about my SS and Alien number but here they are asking (ever used) so it is more straight forward, however when asking about the result - Granted or Denied (attach all documentation) What are they asking for? Can I just take a copy of my Employment Authorization Card or what else do they need?

    G-325A

Here they are asking about my residence for the last 5 years. My question is: I have lived here since 2004, due to collage, however I have been a residence of Sweden all these years (of course) should I still write all the addresses that I have lived on here in the US? Also, regarding the employment question, of course at this, since I am in the US I am unemployed, should I write that or will that look suspicious? I mean, I left the US in Dec 2008 due to my F-1 visa expired and it was not like I got a full time job in Sweden, only freelance job at a Advertising Company, due to recession, and then in April I went back on the Visa waiver program, since i had been away from my boyfriend so long and no job came along so I decided to go back here and then we decided to get married! Maybe, this sounds confusing, but what should I answer on that question? Should I write freelance or unemployed? On our weeding license i wrote unemployed.

    I-130

I now read here that people were sending in a lot of extra documentations??? I didn't know we had to do that?

What kind of documentations/proof do we have to send in?

Lastly, since I entered the US legally on the VWP, USCIS and every lawyer I have spoken to are telling me the same, that it is without any problems for me to get married on the VWP and to send in the application after my visa expires which is tomorrow!!!! Anyways, I am still worried, cause from tomorrow I will be here on a "out of status" status!!! 8. Hi!

I am here on the visa waiver program and I am now getting married with my boyfriend. My visa expires July 10th. I have asked several lawyers and the USCIS and they all say I are able to get married on the VWP.

However, I am in the first step of all of this and I don't know where to start?

We are not hiring a lawyer, we have heard that it is just a waste of money. Also, I have bought a book called Fiance and Marriage Visa - A couples guide..., which I have heard will help you through it. I have not yet received it but I am now wondering if there is anyone who has been in my situation that can give me some advice on where to start???

I am a bit confused to tell you the truth! - PLEASE fill me in...

    A) We book an appointment at the city hall - bring a money order and boom, we are married, right? Then what?

    B) USCIS told me that they will send out a package with all the documents. Is that all the documents I need? Will all the documents be in there- for both me and my husband? Do we send in our medical examination with all those documents?

    C) When do i apply for adjusment of status and the greencard?

    D) What is the cost for all the different documents?

Thank you for helping me out!

    Sincerely,

    Nina
