  1. Hi everyone!

My fiance is still waiting for his interview date for the K-1 visa in London. Hopefully is will be this January!

Once he enters into the USA, we are thinking about getting my mom and dad's house in Oregon. Does anyone know if this would be 'legal' according to the U.S government? Or do we have to get married at a registery office, church, or court house?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  2. Hi!

I'm filling out my affidavit 1-134 for my fiancé's interview in London and I have some questions if you can help?

My sister in Kansas is our co-sponsor because I am unemployed and she has sufficient income. She has written for question 11, "I intend to give financial support for as long as needed."

My fiance and I will be residing in Oregon with my parents, not in Kansas with my sister. So, on question 11 on my affidavit, Can I mention that I can provide room and board for my fiance if it is not my house? It is my parents house and they aren't our co-sponsors.

Does anyone have suggestions what to write in my case? Thanks for any help!

  3. Hi all! I have a question,

I am unemployed but we have a co-sponsor for my fiance for his London interview.

So on my affidavit 1-134, on the question 7, when it asks for (type of business) should I put 'unemployed' or leave it blank?

    Thanks for any suggestions!

  5. hi eveyone!

We are organizing the original documents for my fiance's interview in London. It says in visa journey that my fiance need to bring all the original documents of "evidence of relationship" from our approved I-129 F petition. In our I-129 F petition we made copies of travel stamps in my passport.

Does this mean I have to mail my fiance my passport 'as original evidence' so he can show the officer that the stamps are real?

    Thanks for you help!!!

  6. HI everyone!

Is my fiance suppose to fill out the Medical Questionnaire before he goes to his medical examination appointment or is he suppose to fill it out while he is there in the office.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi emmieme

Before. They will ask for it when he arrives along with his vac records and passport. Then they will give him a more detailed questionaire to fill in.

    Thanks for your help!

  7. Hi,

I found myself in the same situation in wondering what to sign. I signed the DS-230 Part 1 and DS-156, I did not sign DS-230 Part 2 or DS-156K (it says not to on the form for both these forms). When I went for the interview, I was handed my DS-156K and asked to write Jen's name in the space and to sign the form.

I guess it would be better to have not signed something rather than to have done so against what the form has said. I found the staff at the Embassy in London helpful and I'm sure they will make sure that there are signatures in the right places when needs be.

    Dom

So you take the DS-230 Part 2 with you filled out to the interview but not signed?

  8. Hi everyone!

My fiance finally got packet 3! I have been reading load of conflicting information about which of the DS forms he should sign and not sign. On the US embassy London website, it says nothing about "not" signing these forms, so one would assume to sign them, then on visa journey is says to leave DS 156 and DS 156k unsigned for the London embassy.

So I just call the Department of State and they say my fiance has to sign the DS-156 and DS 156K and not sign the DS-230 and send it back to the embassy. The thing is he has already sent back Packet 3.

Has anyone had trouble or delays with unsigned vs signed DS forms?

    Thanks! Emily

  9. Please DO NOT mail any co-sponsor info directly to London Embassy no matter what the website says!!!

    http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/iv/faffidavit.html

We did this and even had delivery confirmation that it was received and signed for. Nevertheless when my fiance went for his interview Oct 15, 2009. The consular officer told him nothing was received. WHAT!!!! :crying: He even showed her the delivery confirmation number and tracking info; she didn't buy it. She gave him a blue form stating visa was suspended until receipt of requested documents (I-134 from co-sponsor and his passport). We sent copies to the Embassy of the document with his passport via the secure courier and it was confirmed as being received on Oct 20, 2009 at the Embassy. From there it should have taken 10-15 business days to complete the processing according to the Embassy customer service reps however as of today still no visa.........

If anything for privacy have the co-sponsor put the documents in a sealed envelope and send it directly to the beneficiary and mark on it open by consular officer only.

Thank you so much for telling me your story! Because you I was able to convince my sister to male it to my fiance instead! Thanks again!!!!

  10. Hi all,

My sister is my fiances co-sponsor and she wants to mail her affidavit I-134 directly to the U.S embassy in London. It says you can do this with a cover letter. She she use this example at the below link but for the I-134? How should it be write as a co-sponsor and not the petitioner?

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/I-864_Cover_letter

Also, has anyone done this before on this forum? I'm a bit worried the embassy will not be able to locate it on the day my fiance has his interview in London because my sister will mail it a least a month before.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  13. For a Singapore police certificate I supplied copies of an old passport. Showing I had entered legally, and stayed for a legal amount of time. (In this case 18 months.) There was no problem at all. I was told that any evidence to show I was in the country legally from X-Y would do.

    Okay, thank you so much!

  14. Dosent it cost about £1.20 a min though? I called on 0904-245-0100....And recieved a very big phone bill!

yes that's why it's called the extortion line! I used to get my fella to call Dept of State (DOS) in US which is much cheaper & they have the same info.

    Thank you everyone!!!!

  15. My English fiance lived in Spain for 2 years but never legally registered to live there, therefore, he can not get a police certificate from Spain. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to satisfy an CO in London U.S embassy if me fiance is asked why he doesn't have a police certificate from Spain? Should my fiance write a statement?

    Thanks everyone!

  16. Hi all!

My sister doesn't want to be my fiance's co-sponsor for the i-134 Affidavit because she paranoid, so my mom will have to be it. But the thing is she only makes 21,000 a year and there we be a house hold size of 4 (her, my dad, myself (because my dad and I am unemployed), and my English fiance, which make the poverty guideline 27,562.

My mom own her own home with no mortgage payments, but it is the house in which they live and my fiance and I will reside. In the affidavit instructions it states that assets can only be used if it can be converted into cash with in a year and well not put the sponsor in jeopardy.

Do you think they would accept my mom's house as a sufficient asset to supplement her lack of income if it the house they live in? Would they be happy with it or are we really cutting it to close?

Is household size the same as the number of dependents?

Also on the affidavit question 8, how should we mark myself and my dad: as wholly dependent or partially? Does it matter?

    Thanks for you help!!!

  17. You need to get a police certificate from every country you have resided in since reaching 16 and have live there for 6 months or more. So UK is included in that. Best thing, call them

    http://www.acpo.police.uk/contact.asp

Speak to the customer service representative. I'm sure they have dealt with a similar scenario like yours before.

Deliver times vary, standard (how much I paid) £35_£5 for copy that took 15 working days

£70 two receive it in two working days and so on. The price increases the faster you want it.

    Good Luck

My fiance was traveling in New Zealand for year, was in Cyprus for over a year, and in Spain for over 2 years. But he was never a "registered resident" in any of these places. Does he still need a police report from all these places? How can he order them from this countries?

  18. Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out if my mom can me my co-sponsor for my fiance for the I-134 Affidavit. She make 19,000 USD. Her husband ( my dad) is unemployed at the moment living together in the same house. Would he be counted at a dependent of my mom's? Would he be included in the household size?

Also, do a co-sponsor need to include a certified copy of just a photo copy of her birth certificate with the I-134 Affidavit?

    Thanks for your help.

  19. Thanks :)

I am the petitioner, and I don't have income to support my fiance so we have a co-sponsor. Do I still mark I INTEND, and state something like "Financial support as necessary" on my I-134 Affidavit? Or what should I write? Thanks for any help!

For my co-sponsor, if she marks INTEND and "Financial support as necessary" enough or does she have to be more specific about amount and for how long? She will be living in a different state in the U.S, so cannot prove room and board.

Yes, even if you don't have income, you still file the I-134 and mark the "I INTEND" box with a statement just like the one you plan to write, as I am sure you do intend to support your fiance once you can, and the embassy prefers that you do as well. Also, for your co-sponsor, you have the right idea and the statement you have written is fine. As for the time duration of the financial support, you can just say "Financial support as necessary for as long as needed" or something like that, you don't want to put a time limit on there.

You are good to go

    Thank you for you help!

  20. My police cert had an old address on it & it wasn't mentioned at interview. It took nearly 4 weeks to come through.

Does my English fiance have to have a police certificate with him at the interview for the k-1 even if he has never committed any crimes?
