Thanks everyone.. This has been hell for us.. So glad we are so strong for each other to be able to get through this..

That's great news! I'm so happy for you!

Finally you'll sleep well tonight!

    Everything else will be easy!

Please let us know when she arrives!!

Again, congratulations! You are both really strong and I admire that!

  2. Two investigators from the consulate showed up at Thuys apartment last weekend.. they asked neighbors questions as well as the manager.. had them sign statements... Why in the world does this have to be such a misreable ordeal?

I emailed them a week or so ago and this is what they had to say...

    Thank you for your inquiry.

A consular officer reviewed the beneficiary’s case on July 31. However, the case is now pending a final review by a consular officer. After the officer review, we will let the beneficiary know what documents she need to submit to complete her application.

We will contact the beneficiary when there is a conclusion on this case.

    Scott,

Hate to hear this! This is so aggravating, OMG!!

Hope you guys have good news soon! You deserve it...

Hang in there, you are almost done!

Wish you the best of luck,

    Lu

  3. Alexa,

It happened the same with me.

First they ordered the production of my EAD and then they approved the petition...

Probably it's our file being updated by different people that don't communicate...

Oh and it happened with my GC too! First I got "Card production ordered", then "Welcome letter mailed", and then, twice, "Approved petition"...

Apparently you'll be receiving your card anytime now!

    Congratulations!!

    Lu

  4. I understand now that electronic verification is what they're supposed to do, but for me that's not what they did. When I got my EAD, the first step wasn't verifying, and he immediately took copies and said he'll send the G845 and it will take about a month. He never said anything about second step for electronic verification. My EAD never produced my change of name. Only after I got the green card, and it wasn't verifying again and they were going to send another G845, I asked to speak to the manager and he's the one that told the worker to do the electronic verification step. I got approved in 2 days.

The lady in the SSO said something about electronic verification. She also took a copy of my GC. She said they'd let me know - by mail - if they need anything else from me...

    Endless waiting...

  5. My wife received her first green card in the mail about two weeks ago. She was an au pair before and after she finished her programm and went back to her homecountry I applied for the fiancee visa for her (she fot the SSN when she was an au pair). Since she received her GC she tried to change her last name on SSN twice yet everytime she goes to the SSO they can't go through with it because the system says there is a name mismatch. Has any of you had a problem like this? I've read about people having a similar problem but they didn't have the green card yet. She has it yet the system still won't let her change her name on the social security card :/What should we do?

    ErKru,

OMG, the same happened with me today!!

I went to the SS Office but it showed a name mismatch on their system.

I received my GC on July 12th. It has my married name on it, as well as my EAD and all the letters I've been receiving from USCIS. My only document with my maiden name is the SS Card... And I can't change it. Therefore, I can't have a DL...

Now, how can they issue us a document and not have our names in their system??

The lady was very nice and even tried to run my maiden name on the system but it showed the same thing: "name mismatch"... Sooo, I was wondering how am I registered on the system?? What name shows up when they type my A# OR SSN??

Have you heard anything from them yet?

Good luck to all of us!

    Lu

Edited to add: BTW, the lady at the SS also told me to wait about 2 weeks for some kind of feedback... But as I can see, I'll have to wait longer...

  6. Today I went to a local branch of the Brazilian Federal Police (DPF - Niterói - RJ), and after filling out the form to request my criminal records from the Federal Police, I advised the Federal Agent (totally unpolite person, without manners) that in the day I would get my criminal records done and signed by the Delegado of Federal Police, I would need to "Reconhecer Firma" of his/her signature, like I've been doing with the other state criminal records from previous places I lived. The Federal Agent told me that they would not do it, or seems not even tell me which cartório I should go to make the "Reconhecimento de Firma" of the Delegado's signature, saying their documents are valid in all National Territory and there's not need for it.

Question 1: Anyone else that got his/her federal criminal records in Rio de Janeiro had any problems doing this?

Question 2: What is needed to validate the internet one? The one where we print directly from the website?

Question 3: Does notarized mean in cartório words "Reconhecer Firma?" Because so far, on the SSP from Santa Catarina I've done that, and in Rio de Janeiro at Felix Pacheco (SSP-RJ) the lady told me after I receive the criminal records printed I should "Reconhecer Firma" of the Delegado that would sign the document.

    Thanks.

    Hey guys,

The best thing to do is email the Consulate this question. Then keep the email with the answer, print it and take it to the interview with you, just in case.

I emailed them the same question and the answer was "No, no need to reconhecer firma" (my interview was in November/2009). I did what I just told you (took the printed email with me) but I had no issues with that. They just looked at the certificate and gave it back to me at the end of the interview.

    The Consulate email is ImmigrationRio@state.gov

Like I said, email them and have a copy of the email with you. They are pretty quick at answering emails.

    Good luck!

    Lu

Oh, and for you to validate a certificate, there is a link on the website for that. The website will generate a number. Print the certificate AND the page with the number. The Consulate wants both.

  7. Last night they did the investigative calls from the consulate we have been waiting on ...

    me 30 minutes

    my ex?

    MIL 30 minutes

    Thuy 70 minutes

now that they have completed that segment, we should get a decision this week or next.... about time...

speaking of time.. 11PM is a great time for a consulate to call for an OTP interview huh?

    Scott,

I've also been pulling for you since I read about your interview results!

Hopefully this will end soon and you'll finally have Thuy by your side!!

    You guys really deserve it!

    Good luck!!

  8. After sending my AOS papers, I got an RFE saying the USCIS had "no records of my medicals" (which is impossible because I handed the envelope with everything in it at POE). What happened was that the Immigration misplaced the report the doctor in Brazil had completed in November.

So I had to go to the doctor again. He accepted my blood exams and X-ray but said my vaccinations were not complete ( ). Oh, and said I needed to do a skin test for Tuberculosis because the X-ray was not enough (I was like "What??"...)

At that time I was living in a very remote place so didn't have many options of doctors to choose from... Ended up paying $300 for the appointment + $170 for the shots. :crying:

So, yes, if you have a choice, call all the doctors you can before picking up one.

    Good luck!

    Lu

Edited to add that he wouldn't only fill out the report. He said he couldn't do that. He had to interview me and "check me" again (luckily no physical exam...... Only weight, height, temperature, breathing, etc. )

  9. First I wanted to share that Linnea and I have just gotten back from our wedding in Savannah, GA this past weekend. It went great! (We had a legal ceremony the week after she got into the US.) Thanks to everyone who gave us advice for the K1 visa that allowed us to get to this point!

Linnea has received a Social Security number a month ago and she then received her drivers license a few days later. When she got the license, they issued a temporary one that was only valid until mid August. Their reasoning was that in her passport it was stamped for only 3 months allowed in the US for the K1 visa. They said that in order to get a permeant license, we would need to get the passport stamped and bring that back to them showing she was legally allowed to be here past 3 months.

We have filed for AOS and have had our biometrics appointment already and are just waiting for a letter for the interview. Since her license is about to expire in a few weeks and she needs to drive, is there a way to get a stamp for the USCIS to get the license renewed?

Thanks for all the help from everyone,

    Casey och Linnea

    Hey guys,

First of all, congratulations on the wedding!

I'm not sure she'll get a stamp on her passport to have her DL renewed, because her AOS is being processed... I live in Savannah and couldn't have my DL either because I didn't have my Green Card. Now that I have it, I'll apply for a name change in the SS Office and then have my DL. What happened was that my SS has my maiden name on it, and my immigration papers have my married name. So they couldn't match my names and I couldn't have the license. They told me to wait until my SS card has my married name, but for that I had to wait for my GC... It IS an aggravation but there is nothing to do but wait...

Oh, and I read somewhere that the DL will be valid for 2 years only, because of the conditional GC...

    Good luck to us!

    Lu

  10. WOO HOO!! Ooh Liz, I'm gonna pray for you super hard this week!!

Hey Markieboy, how you doin' buddy?

Wishing a good week for all, especially the CSCs!!

    Hey everybody!

I'm a Feb filer also but haven't posted anything so far. Was just reading the posts.

I filed on Feb 24th (NOA 1 date), got an RFE (USCIS misplaced my medicals... ) and had my case transfered to CSC on April 29th. On June 28th I received an email with the "Card production ordered" notice. After 1 week (July 6th) I received the Welcome Letter and today (July 12th) I got my Green Card in the mail!!

Just to let you know that CSC is back to work (apparently)...

Hope other CSCs get their GC soon!!

  11. Hi guys I recieved my visa on Friday an after looking at the gallery prior to recieving my visa I noticed that the fiancees name is written under annotation. My annaotation section is blank. Is this normal and will it create a problem at POE?

    Regards

    Shelby

    Hey Shelby,

My visa didn't have my husband's (then fiancé) name either. It was a blank space. However I didn't have any problems at POE. My friend's K1 visa also didn't have her fiancé's name and she also didn't have any issues when she got here.

  14. Mila just past her interview!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She said everything went well. She said she was a little nervous. They asked several questions but they were easy and

the interviewers were nice. I can't wait to talk to her tonight and get all the details.

She is very happy. Now I can go visit her at Christmas and bring her home with me on January 3.

It's a wonderful feeling. I don't think I will be able to work the rest of the day.

    Hey guys!!

Congratulations on you both!!!

Give us more details when you can!!!

  15. Thank You so much! That definitely helps alot..

One more quick question... when and what do they send to my fiance? He is in Aruba now, But we are going through the embassy in Manila because that is where he is a citizen. I need to get him back there AND change the address with whoever to the Phil address before they send anything out. Because so far on any paperwork we have put his Aruba address. Its a race against the clock now.

They could possibly send pkt 3 after the end of next week. Call NVC to besure they have your Email so they can alert you when it is sent to the consulate, They may be able to change the address at this stage.. maybe... Call the consulate as soon as they get the file. Tell them where he will be (new address) they will know how long before he should expect pkt 3... like I said it could be very soon...

    Guys,

    Just my personal experience...

Neither me nor Keith have received any email from NVC saying that they sent our file to the Consulate. And they have already sent it...

I had to call to have this information...

Good luck to all of us!!

I think Lu & Keith is correct also.

    Loveaboo,

Yeah, don't wait on them to send you an email...

Well, I was pretty anxious about this NVC thing, so this is what I did: (I know I'm crazy, you can tell...)

    1. Called on the 16th (Wed) - they had my case

    2. Called on the 17th (Thu) - was told my case was on Additional Processing (I thought "Oh no... Dang!")

    3. Called on the 18th morning (Fri) - was told my case hadn't started being processed yet ("Whaaat?")

    4. Called on the 18th late at night again (don't know why) - was told my case was sent to Rio on that day...

Since I had lots of different info, I called on Monday again (the 22nd) and theeen confirmed that my case had been sent to Rio on the 18th...

    Crazy huh?

  16. Thank You so much! That definitely helps alot..

I have the NOA1, copy of the I 129-f, pictures, proof of relationship, and all supporting docs and the I-134. What else do I have to bring him? And, what should he be doing now? I have to call the NVC two days from today, right? Oh lord, this is really happening im so excited! Hopefully we all can help eachtoher through this.

    THanks for the support!
