  1. The 1040x attached to the 2010 transcript would do it. If you mean the re-do return you worked out to see the changes in numbers so you could fill out the 1040x, then I don't think that is meant to be sent. Even the IRS doesn't want that.

30 pages is a lot of pages. Are you sure it is all tax return? If it says "worksheet" or "summary" or "Thank you for using TurboTax" at the top, that is for your information. IRS return pages generally are called Form xxxx or Schedule x. It could be 30 pages, but sometimes print outs give you a lot of junk pages.

Yes they are Forms and Schedules, but the last 6 pages are Federal Statements so, mail everything then? unsure.png Thanks

  2. I hope some one here know this one ......

My mother have the appointment in the Bogota embassy for her visa ( i petitioned her and everything is done) we are obviously hoping the visa is granted!!! I am coming with her to embassy to help with all down there how ever I only got a week off work so the question is ... How long it take for the embassy in Bogota to deliver the visa after is granted? I want wait for it and bring mom with me so is this even possible?

Then one more does any one know of a good hotel where i can stay for about a week and doesn't cost too much?

    Thank youuuu very much

    violeta s.

    Hi V

I'm not sure how things have changed since i got mine in 2009 but, in my case I got my interview on sep 10 and the visa was delivered on sep 19.

Regarding a hotel a good one is "Hotel Estelar de la Feria" is near the airport and the US Embassy, I booked it through a traveling agency in Colombia and I got a better deal than doing it directly with them. I have no complaints. Just avoid the rooms facing the street for the noise. Best of luck for your mom and u on the interview!smile.png

  3. Hi VJ's

I'm planning on applying for my citizenship based on marriage. My tax return from 2010 I had it ammended (as you guys recommended) because my husband filed it married filing separately, his accountant told him at that time I did not need to file taxes because I was not working, (wrong) but thank God we got it fixed. For 2011 and 2012 I got the transcripts from IRS but I did not request transcripts for 2010 because transcripts "do not contain cahnges made to the return" like amendments. So for 2010 I have the 1040X form attached to the 1040, and my questions are:

    1. Since the document checklist says we need to send copies of all documents, should I just copy all the 30 ages of my amended 2010 Tax Return and mail them?

    2. Are fotocopies of the transcripts ok or I have to send originals (They do not look much different)?

    3. My name is not in the mortgage of the house but we have a joint bank account is that enough?

    4. Should I include maybe a copy of the phone and electricity/gas bill (Both names on them) like we did for ROC?

    Your help is always appreciated

    Thanks

  4. :help: Hi I am really confused about if I am required to file taxes or not. I'm a LPR since Oct 2009, so that is how long I've been in the US. I'm a student and a housewife, I do not have a job so I don't have income. My husband filed taxes separately for 2009 and 2010. He asked his accountant if I was required to file taxes and he said: "If she is not working, she doesn't need to". Is this true? We live in a Community Property State.

Reading the requirements for application of citizenship it says that you need to include your tax returns. If I didn't have any income myself (besides what my husband makes), and I did not file tax returns for 2009 and 2010 separately, would this affect my application for citizenship?

Do I need to file now for 2011?

What document do I need to submit instead of the tax returns? Or how do I let them know that I do not have income?

I would really appreciate your help on this...

  5. I have a question...If a Colombian citizen has a civil marriage in Colombia, his or her Birth Certificate is gonna have a note saying that you are married. What about US citizens who get married abroad, how do they change their status? How do they proof they are married , how is that marriage legal in US ? Does their birth Certif. change as here ? Or just if they applied for a CR1 or IR1 Visa the government would update their data base ?

    How does that work ?

  6. Leidys and I did some comparisons with the lodging in the Bogotá area nearest the Embassy.

Check with different traveling agencies, they can get you a good deal through the colombian airline Aerorepublica with their "Planes a Volar", they have "Visa plans" with good hotels near the embassy, and they include tickets, stayings, breakfast and transportation airport-hotel-airport, hotel-embassy-hotel. We got the cheappest deal through my traveling agency. I made my research with different hotels and airlines, and what we got was even cheaper than doing it straight with Aerorepublica. And a lot more cheaper than finding the hotel and tickets separate.

    Good luck ! :star:

  7. OMG !!! Visa APPROVED !!!

Wow ! we are so excited! Everything went nice and organized.

The order that you are called is aleatory, some people were fingerprinted after me, and they were interviwed first, so be patient.

Good luck for everyone, be organized and prepared and everything goes good. Just submit what they ask you but keep and bring with you copies of what you already submited to NVC. Bring a lot of proof of relationship, better safe than sorry.

  8. OMG !!! Visa APPROVED !!!

Wow my knees are still shaking. We are so excited! Everything went nice and organized. My hubby went with me, but they didn't asked him anything.

This is my visa experience: I know there is a special site for this but I just want to share my experience with my Colombian club II !

-We got there about 6:30am (we didn't wanted to miss the "breakfast included" from the hotel)

-Line # 2, you get a green sticker for Immigrant visa applicants.

-Embassy opens gate at 7 am

-We went straight to 40 window, they give u a green folder where u organize your documents:

-They actually listed the baptismal certificate, thank God I got it. They kept it.

-Marriage, Birth, Police Certificate (they had the original I submited a fotocopy), 2 pictures 5"x5", DS230, Financial evidence (AOS, 3 most recent years tax returns, they had it so they gave them back), your passport.

-About 8:45 they called me to a window to check my docs. (4 , 29 to 32)

    -9:45 fingerprints

-11:00 Interview, a very sweet and nice CO smiling, just 3 questions and she said the magic words "your visa has been approved" OMG !

-I just turned and kissed and hugged my hubby, he didn't get it right away, he was so surpised. Because other people were taking about 20 minutes per interview.

    - then we went to pay Domesa, and that was it !

The order that you are called is aleatory, some people were fingerprinted after me, and they were interviwed first, so be patient.

I want to thank all of you for the advices, specially Mononoke, girl you've been a great help. Good luck for everyone, be organized and prepared and everything goes good. Just submit what they ask you but keep with all what you consider extra or not necesary. Bring a lot of proof of relationship, better safe than sorry. ;)

  9. Just wondering if the baptismal certificate was needed at the NVC side of the house for CR1 visa? The K3 checklist for the embassy seems to want one but since we are only doing the K3 as like a practice run, should we even need that for the CR1 afterall?

Hi caliboy, as I know, NVC doesn't require the baptismal certificate, but in Bogota US Embassy, in the folder they give you to put all

the civil documents of the applicant they ask for it, and they keep it. So she better gets it.

  10. That is great that your guys cases are moving along so well, mine is just begining to set its foot on the racetrack. The embassy now has Adriana's paperwork and is in the process of sending her the packet 3 paperwork, but I'm going to go the recommended route and have Adriana email them the choice of agent and ds230. Or maybe it would look better if I email it on her behalf from my mil. email. The NVC just recieved the I130 package yesterday and now comes the task of calling till twice a day till i can recieve the case number and let them know our emails.

You guys are awesome, Ive learned so much that maybe I can help other airmen in the command file their paperwork in case they have no one to turn to overseas while stationed abroad.

    James

    Hi James

When my hubby made the payments online for AOS and IV Application, there is an option where you can add another email address to receive the receipts so you can print them, since he included my email address, NVC started emailing me all the letters they sent to my hubby. That was so good for us. Mail in Colombia is very slow, when they sent me the choice of address and agent by mail and email in march I received it by mail in June. Regarding DS230, the form doesn't allow to save any information typed, so you have to type it, print it and mail it to them with all the civil documents of your wife.

    Good luck

  13. As requested, this is how I organized my 2 important clear books. I wasn't asked to show any other proofs aside from these ones. Hope that it helps others on how to be prepared for the interview.

Good luck. I actually prepared too much, but being prepade made me confident enough to be asked of anything. YES! That's the fighting spirit I got. ahhah! Good luck!

Wow girl! your were more than prepared, those books look great, that's why the CO was so happy, I am working on something similar for my interview too, and I'm taking notes from you, you are very nice in sharing this with us, I'm very organized too, and this worth it ! Because I cannot wait to be with my love soon... Congrats again.

  14. Congrats!!! I bet that was a unforgettable moment, I dream with that day!. And I have a question too. If we already sent all my civil documents to NVC, Birth and marriage certificate (updated this year), and DAS Police certificate issued on March 2009(good for 1 year), all originals, should I get everything again for the interview?

    Thanks :star:

Yes, the NVC should send every single document you sent them to the US embassy. BUT, it's always to bring photocopies with you just in case.

    Diana

Ok thanks Diana, so I don't have to do collect again those documents right?. I have photocopy (simple not notarized) from the DAS Police Certif. I wonder because I was checking the appointment package at the US embassy website and they ask to show up at the interview with those documents. If NVC collect all the civil documents and sends everything to the embassy, are they going to return those to me the day of the interview to be able to put them together in the green folder before I talk to the CO ?.

  15. Guys! as I promised this is our interview experience on July 22:

We got there around 6:00am; there were plenty of people at that time. We got on line #1 but the embassy coordinators put us on #3. They let us in at 6:55am and send us to station #40 where we were given a green folder with instructions on how to organize all needed ducuments. Since it was a CR-1 visa most of the documents they had already but we included my wife's pictures (2), passport, Das certificate and Das letter shown exits from country and return. They call my wife on window #29 arount 9:30am to turned in the folder, to verify that all documents were ok and to give us all documents not needed (everything that we sent to USCIS that we were told that NVC didn't have). After a long waiting and seeing most people getting denied they call my wife around 2:10pm for interview on wi :thumbs:nd ow #3. Nice white gentleman stated asking for pictures of when we were dating and wedding, then he told my wife that I had to go and seat, then he stated asking her questions like how we met, where do I live, when we met for the first time, how many time I have visited her and more.

After that he told her that he needed to ask me some questions. Fisrt he ask me "Are you aware that your wife is pregnant? I said yes! How sure you are that it is yours? "I'm sure about it" I replied, and then he stated making other questions like how we met? where you married before? how many children do you have? What do you do for living? and he asks so many questions about my job since he used to do the same king of job before he said. After questions and more questions he said the magic words "WE WILL ISSUE A VISA FOR YOUR WIFE" I felt like he took 50 pounds away from me, I thank him not knowing how to react, I felt like crying, smiling, screaming, It was a joyful moment that you dream about it but when it finally comes you have no idea of what to do.

After thank him I just turned around went straight to my wife, hug her and gave her a big kiss then I told her "Mi amor, we got approved" This was one of the most happiest days of my life.

    I can Thank you enough guys for all your help; now my wife is finally coming home August 5th after a very long journey and our baby will be borne in USA. Thank you guys again, your friend;

    Orlando....

  16. Yes, we need to be interviewed, and I've been calling NVC almost everyday since case completed, Bogota US embassy has a preliminary report for August not the final list yet, we'll see or maybe the firts week of Sept.

Do u know how Bogota US Embassy do with the people meeting the income requirement using assets in the I-864 AOS ? Have you heard about someone getting approved using assets at Bog US Embassy ? That is our situation now, and we don't have a joint sponsor.

This was a checklist sent after our case was completed:

We have reviewed the documents which you submitted in support of an application for an immigrant

visa. Please review the information listed under each applicant's name and provide any documents

which are indicated as missing or need additional information. You must submit the required

information. Failure to provide the requested information will delay your immigrant visa interview.

    MISSING DOCUMENT LIST FOR: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    ______FINANCIAL EVIDENCE:__________________________________________

The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to

the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that you, as the Petitioner, do

not appear to meet the minimum income requirement according to the

current poverty guidelines to sponsor the intending immigrant(s) for this

petition. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this

requirement at the time of your interview. In order to avoid delays, you

may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) for a

Joint Sponsor to the National Visa Center to assist in sponsoring the

intending immigrants. To view the current poverty guidelines, visit

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf.

If you decide to use a Joint Sponsor to assist in sponsoring the intending

immigrants, please note that you the sponsor may not use Form I-864EZ

and will also need to submit Form I-864.

    Thanks :star:

To be honest with you, I'm not very familiar with situations where the sponsor only used their assets for the AOS. But according to the statement above, it looks like you need to make sure you DO meet the financial requirements because the NVC is saying that you don't. If that's the case, the CO will not approve your visa the day of the interview until you can give them enough proof or have a co-sponsor back you up.

A good place to start is by calling the NVC to find out if they can tell you exactly why you don't meet the requirements according to them, since they're the ones you sent you that notice after all. In my opinion, if this is how they feel then they should have sent you an RFE and not complete your case until you had enough evidence to prove you do meet the minimum financial requirements.

    Diana

Well, my husband met the income requirement with assets and it was over the requirement, (the total value of all assets must equal 3 times (for spouses) the difference between the poverty guidelines and the sponsor's household income) as you can see in the AOS on page 5 part 7. Use of assets to supplement income. (Optional). Where you can include Savings, real estate, stocks, cd etc. My husband called NVC and they said they send that letter to all the sponsors that didn't met the "household income" and that the CO makes the decision not the NVC. That's why we would like to know if someone here has been approved using assets in the AOS.
