  1. You probably won't have an interview and have your AOS approved in about 4 months. We live in Texas too and had our AOS transferred to California where is sat for 6 months and then was transferred to Houston and two months later had our interview, but that is unusual. We got approved and the green card arrived about two weeks later.

We got are biometrics appointment set about a month after we filed, but after we got the notice we went in early and they weren't busy and they let us do it then. Someone else on Visajourney had said that they did that, so we gave it a try.

    Good luck.

Do you know if it is normal to have the case transferred before you get the biometrics appointment?

    Thanks!

  2. I received a letter from USCIS today stating that my AOS file had been transferred from the Missouri office to the California Service Center. I live in Texas, why would the file be moved so far away? I was expecting the letter to advise me of my Biometrics appointment, just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and how long it took for the AOS to process through the California Center.

    Thanks!

  4. My entire AOS packet was returned to me in the mail today. I am trying to figure out what was wrong with the application. As far as I can tell, we forgot to check the box showing what we were applying for on the EAD. Is it normal for them to return the entire AOS package just because a mistake was made on the EAD? There were Rejection notices attached to the I-765,I-484,and the I-864 but only the rejection notice on the I-765 specified what was wrong ststing "I am applying for" which is the box we forgot to check. Once I correct that form is it safe to assume that we can re-submit the AOS packet?

    Thanks!

  6. We are filling out th AOS documents and had a question. The original medical exam results were givin to Homeland security at the POE in Houston in a sealed envelope. We understand that we need to have a Civil Surgeon review and sign off on the medical the put it into another sealed envelope to enclose with the AOS filing. What do we need to bring to the Civil Surgeon since the original documents were taken by Homeland Security?

  7. Just curious - I'm a year away....but I consider myself a peaceful person. I have no intention of ever touching a gun, let alone using one. No matter who it's for.

This seems like such an antiquated question, no?

Don't become an American if you are not willing to stand up and protect this nation!

Snide comments aren't helpful Bartonr3 - but on the topic, becoming an American is a convenience for me rather then a necessity. Since I intend to live here the remainder of my life, with my USC husband being a citizen only makes sense so that I can vote and participate fully in daily life. Because I'm not fan of guns or war does not indicate that I will be a poor American and therefore not willing to protect my country of residence. There are plenty of naturally born Americans with the same opinion.

Redneck - i really appreciate your POV on those who voluntarily enter the Armed Forces. Very good point I guess in the back of my mind, I know this scenario will never play out.

I find some of their questions on the form somewhat antiquated...this is one of them I suppose. They should add some details surrounding it I think

Just saying, "Love it or leave it"

  8. My fiance had her interview today and was denied. They said her Son who was born in Brazil and only has a Brazilian birth certificate and passport needs to get an American passport since his father is American. The father has never even seen the boy and has never paid child support. We don't even have an address for the father in the US. The father did sign the Brazilian birth certificate but that is all he did. We went to court in Brazil and a judge signed a letter of permission for her son to leave Brazil. I can't belive this happened, and I need some advice as to what to do next.

I would appreciate all help and advice.

    Thanks!

  9. I received a letter dated 7/20 stating that our file would be sent to Rio Consulate within 7 days. When I called NVC today they said that our file was in the administrative stages. What does that mean? How long should it take to be shipped out?
