  1. I'm a Citizen! Oath commenced this morning at 9am and was over by 10:15am. 163 Citizens were naturalized from 63 countries. Went straight to the Passport Agency to go apply for my passport, and will be picking it up on monday.

Thank you VJ Family for all of your help, support and advice in this whole journey!

  2. Received this status update yesterday:

On April 26, 2012, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

    YES!!!!!

  3. Hi guys,

I would like to thank all of you for your support, and advice. I passed my interview and was recommended for Approval. My interview appointment time was 9:00am, and I got to the DO at 8:48am. Checked in and waited till I was called by my IO at 10:51am. Older white gentleman, who was very pleasant and he even apologized for the long waiting time.

Interview took about 15 minutes and he asked the following questions:

1- How many years do we elect a US Representative for?

2- What is the "rule of law?"

3- What ocean is on the West Coast of the US?

4- What is the name of the national anthem?

5- What do the 13 stripes on the flag represent?

Funny guy, he cracks a joke: "You cheated, you actually studied!" Interview took 15 minutes and he congratulated me, and asked me if I've been pleased with their service so far (USCIS).

And that was a wrap. Handed me my N-652, so I guess at this point, I will just wait in line for my Oath.

Thanks once again guys! You guys rock!

  4. No, this person is asking about the citizenship interview, not visa.

No birthcert needed for the citizenship interview.

Thanks for the reply. I talked to other people as well, and they said that they were not asked for the birth certificates. What got me was when one person told me he presented his birth certificate. But he did just tell me that he wasn't asked for it. He just handed the IO a complete package that included his birth certificate.

HEY BREATH FIRST. We have been thru the Nigerian experience so I can tell you first hand that they may ask for it. If you sent it with the list of documents for the visa application they should have a copy. Second, when you got your interview appointment confirmation they sent you a list of documents they did not receive and needed you to bring. However since you do not have the long form birth certificate they asked for then take what you have just make sure you have everything else...God Bless You and I can't wait to see that you got approved!

Thanks, my guy. But I am working on my citizenship, not applying for a visa. I appreciate the encouragement nonetheless, my bros. O se!

  5. If applying for the three year marriage, they sure wanted to see mine or other proof of US citizenship, like a US passport. And I wasn;'t even the applicant, just the spouse of the applicant.

Wife only had to show her green card for her DOB, for some strange reason, they trusted their own AOS for that green card. But her green card was also based on marriage to me, for some reason, they didn't trust that aspect of it. So also had to bring in her marriage certificate, same one for the AOS. Then they questioned if that was valid, also had to bring in all of divorce papers in as well. Go figure.

Plenty of joint living together evidence was needed for her ten year card, didn't trust themselves on all of that either.

OP isn't even giving a hint about his/hers application, is it the 3 or 5 year? For the later, don't need anything except your green card.

    Hi Nick.

Thanks for the feedback. Mine is based on 5-year rule.

  6. Hey, Good People,

    Got this update online:

Your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION is now scheduled for interview. You will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. You should receive this notice within 14 days. If you do not receive this notice within 14 days from February 27, 2012, please call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 for further assistance. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

  7. Hi guys,

I checked my online status and got this update:

On February 21, 2012, your N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION was placed in line for interview scheduling. When scheduling is complete, you will receive a written notice with a time and place for your interview. Please check the website for further updates on your case. If you move, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address.

This is a different notification than the ones that actually state that you have been scheduled for the interview. My question: will the online status be updated to say I've actually been scheduled for the interview or will I just receive an interview letter whenever I'm actually scheduled? From anyone's experience, how long after this online status (being "in line" for scheduling) does it change to actually being scheduled for the interview, if this stage is updated further.

    Thanks guys

  8. Looking at the immigration timeslines in VJ for Atlanta and sorting by Oath date descending, they seem to be much more frequent (12/12, 11/18, 10/07, 09/23, 09/08 etc.)

D and C, thanks for clarifying. I suspected this information was incorrect as I do remember people on this forum taking their Oaths in consecutive months past.

  9. Hey Lax75

That's the same yellow notice l got in the mail on friday. Do we have to worry about this. I'm thinking of going to the court house some time this week and geting all my paperwork stamped, I can not get a live person on the phone so i guess i have to go in personnelly and ask.

    Shaq.

    Hey Shaq,

Nothing to worry about, my brother. In my case, I had two speeding tickets which they call an "arrest" for some God-known reason, rather than a simple citation. I submitted copies of my dispositions, as strongly advised by my attorney. So I have the originals with me, as well as the Original citations. This is all that is needed. Be sure to also take this Yellow letter with you to the interview.

I have a friend who got two tickets, just like me. He applied for Naturalization about 2 weeks before me, and last week he got his Yellow letter asking him to bring court dispositions of his "arrest." About 4 days later, he got his actual interview letter.

  10. Got the same email dated on the 6th :)

its cool that so far we have the exact same updates, good luck everyone!!!

From what I have researched, looks like people are getting their entire process completed within 4 months. It may be because it's an election year. Let's just keep our fingers-crossed that this applies to us also. I will check my mailbox today to see if my fingerprints appointment letter is there.
