. Any recommendations?
Thanks

My wife got her biometrics appointment letter with instructions to bring her I.D. and the notice she recieved informing her of her appointment. I will be going with her of course, but what should we expect at this appointment? Also, does this mean all the information and documents we submitted with her AOS package have been looked at and is adequate? Can we still get an RFE on any of that information?
Thanks,
Wyatt
Bring all your ID's like marriage cert or certified copy, passport etc.. I did a early walk in and took only 10mins and im done. Make sure your finger prints are readable coz mine was kinda no prints hard to see the lines.
Cheers

"Available only to those who are resident in Kuwait

Like many Filipino citizens, my wife was an OFW in Korea for 3 years. Naturally, since she was gone that long she needs a police clearance from South Korea. Per the State Department website:
Police Records
Korean National Police Certificate (Crime-Investigation History Report: Bomjoi-Soosa Kyongreok Johoi Hoiboseo) is available to visa applicants of any nationality who are physically present in South Korea. The new KNPC now includes all serious crimes since 1945, regardless of expungement benefits under Korean law, and misdemeanors for five years, according to the Individual Information Protection Law of March 2003.
Applicants presently in Korea: Foreign nationals, regardless of visa status, and Korean citizens must apply in person at any local police station. The KNP checks non-Koreans according to the requestor's Korean alien registration card or passport. Korean citizens must show a Korean identity card with the Korean citizen's unique, lifetime Korean identification number, which is found on Korean national identity cards and Korean passports adjacent to the applicant's name. KNP processing is no fee and takes less than one hour. The new KNPC bears a red ink half inch square stamp on the bottom containing the Korean characters for National Police. It is issued in Korean only and applicants must attach a complete English translation, certified as true and correct by anyone competent in Korean and English, for the visa interview. A simple computer printout of criminal records is issued with the Korean annotation for information only, has no red ink stamp and is not a KNPC for visa purposes.
Applicants outside of Korea: Unavailable.
If your wife or fiancee was an OFW in Korea could you please tell me how this was addressed? I would like to hear only from those whose loved one worked in Korea please...
Your input is very much appreciated...
Well I used to work in kUwait and I didnt get the police clearance because in my case I should be personally presence to get the police clearance. We wrote a letter of hardship instead.
Hope I make sense

the worst thing they can say is no. we did a walk in appointment here in St Louis yesterday and they didn't have a problem with it. Good Luck.
oh I can say you were lucky that day?
Can I ask what time did you get there? Is it crowded?
Thanks for response!

Yep! I used to work in Singapore and I had an interview and flew from Singapore to Texas

My friend was asking if possible to divorce her husband because of his ex wife (USC) until now the ex wife has nothing to do but to give bS to my friend and to her husband. Because the ex wife wants her to live miserable here in US like calling her a ####### etc..Asking her husband lot of stuff to do and the ex wife never stop messaging her husband almost everyday eventhough not related with the kids.
How does the divorce works? I mean do you have to have to text your ex knowing he is already married to another one??
obviously the ex wife wants to ruin their marriage by giving them a difficult situation end up arguing and fighting. my friend is trying to understand every circumstances but she's fed up!
she has 2 year GC.
any replies much appreciated.
CHeers!
why divorce her husband if his ex was the one causing all the problems? tell your friend to record and keep all the text messages from the ex and sue her. if your friend really love her husband then she should stand with him and resolve together the problem.
do you think my friend can sue ex wife? what grounds? ruining marriage? can file for restraining order?
confused! huhuwawa

I'm in this situation myself right now. You can just give up and divorce him if you want. But, why? If it's just the ex-wife, you need to find a way to deal with it. Tell your husband it is bothering you and see what you guys can work out. I've learned though, HE has to be the one to put his foot down and say stop this. And, sometimes they are loathe to do that because of the kids and her using them to get back at him for something or other. Or sometimes they are just plain chicken shyt and she's a big bully.
As far as saying stuff directly to her....in my experience, the ex will just say it behind the back. Never brave enough to say anything to your face. You just tough it out. Hold your head high. I don't even respond cause I know it's not true and I know he knows it's not true and I know everyone she is talking to that matters to me knows it's not true. I refuse to stoop down to her level.
If you want to talk some in private, PM me and I'll share. It's not easy; but if he is worth it, you will figure out a way to work it out.
My friend can read all her messages to her hubby. ex wife still messaging her hubby hoping and expecting they will be together soon by using their kids whewww!!!
-
your friend needs to talk to her husband and her husband has to have the balls to tell his witch wife to fudge off and leave him alone. Ex's tend to ruin relationships. Mine got ruined because sadly, my husband chose not to end all ties with his ex-gf even if they have no reason to be communicating with each other anymore.
If she will divorce him, she can do that but she has to have a job and enough savings to self petition herself.
What the ex wife does? she always use their kids and my friend doesnt want to compete with kids.
so what she can do now? its not good to be quite at all times!
thanks

Hi, were getting ready to file the I-485 here. I brought my wife Michelle here on a k-1 fiancee visa. Just talked to her, and she is telling me that she only has a photocopy of her certified birth certificate. Is that sufficient to send in for immigration? Anyone know about this?
Photocopy for your AOS but during interview you might need all original documents. So you better order online or send an authorization letter to her relative to get her birth cert. Dont worry you still have plenty of time.
Cheers!

Hi,
how would you know if the money is ready to pick up by your recipient? because ive tried to sent money yesterday. they said im gonna recieve email if the money is ready? but until now, when i track my transaction number is still processing??
thanks
-
I used the number from my NOA... it starts with a MSCXXXXXXXXXx and that number should stay with you until your AOS is complete.
Hope that helps.
Cheers...
Thank you for the info.
appreciate alot

My wife's family lost their home in the flooding (their house collapsed) and one of her sisters is missing.
that's very very sad news I got when I woke up this morning. My parent's house is on flood until to the second floor!
Let's pray for our families back home!

We have recently sent off our AOS package and want to make sure that we can check the status of our package, and was wondering what everyone else uses to do this?
So far we have gone to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/portfolioCustomerRetrieve.do and signed up to get email and mobile updates. We also went to https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Portfolio/CaseS...?appReceiptNum= and it shows "Initial Review" (which I think most everyone else is showing too).
Should we be getting a new number with the receipt of the AOS package? Does our original EAC number stay with us through out the entire process?
We appreciate any replies any one can give.
-
....and mods if this is in the wrong area, I apologize in advance.
My wife is home all day everyday and is bored just cleaning the house and watching TV. We are filing the AOS but I'm afraid she won't be able to do much until she at least gets her work permit.
Anyone around Houston (especially filipinas) who are also waiting around bored? I'd like to at least get her someone to talk to during the daytime.
Thanks!

Ok, my fiancee has sent Package 3 back to the embassy and we are now waiting for package 4.
I have looked up this information in the consulates section here.
My question is, that this information is "updated" as of 2007. Is there anyone who has had a K1 interview lately (preferably within the past 6 months) at the Singapore Embassy who can confirm this information is still accurate?
Thanks!

Moving to Embassy forum from Moving Here forum.
thx for the info, Just making sure I'm doing everything correctly because it seems if you miss anything, it's not good. So many sad stories here and i'm over three months into it almost four and I don't want any delays. Waiting is the hard part anyway. So I don't need to fill all the info in if the amount is above the minimum?
Yes, waiting is the hard part.
And I filled out everything anyways. I think a good rule of thumb is that its always a good idea to over-do everything AND make copies of anything.

Once you get the NOA2, you will get sent to the NVC for processing. THis can take varying amounts of time, but somewhere you will want to call so you can track your petition and get its new case # (it changes when it goes abroad). Regarding what happens after it gets to the consulate is country specific, so look farther down the forums page for the regional discussion and ask in your countries area OR check the tab at the top of the page that says embassy info. There are forms that will need to be filled out for the actual application of the visa (which I can't remember the name of) and a police cert and medical will been to be obtained. Again, country specific on how to go about each of those.
After you guys get the visa and get to the US, you have 90 days to get married. As soon as you can manage after that, you will need to file for adjustment of status. That is the I485 that you mentioned. You will also want to file for Advance Parole and your temporary work permit. Look at the guides for more info on that when the time comes.
MSU Thanks for being so polite and helpful the world needs more people like you in it!! I was a little turned off to this site after the first few replies I had recieved. Everyone has to start somewhere and I need to thank you for your time and guidance. Its refreshing to know there are people who still show respect for their fellow human beings even when nobody else is, you have real integrity and I think you should know that. Thanks for "nOOb"ing me instead of ridiculing me because I am inexperienced in these forums, I really appreciate it!!
All it takes is alot of reading and getting used to how to use the boards.
I don't think most people mind answering a question unless it has been asked 30 different times, by 30 different people in 30 different areas, plus already covered under the FAQ and/or stickys (Stickys are the threads toward the top of each forum that is usually loaded with lots of good info). Most people just don't want to do the leg work most of us have already gone through. I didn't find this site until 9 months after I filed my original I-129F. So trust me, you have a head start already.
And remember, everyone's "journey" is different, but most people try to help where they can. Good luck!

I guess people were called in the order they arrived, but you have no way of knowing how many people arrived before you. The order of people called went something like: A12, A13, C43, C44, B26, C45, A14, C46, C47, A15, B27, C48.
It was SO FRUSTRATING watching the people who worked there. YOu could see them behind their glass windows. Every time they assisted someone, they'd then take 10-15 minutes before seeing the next person. WHAT ARE THEY DOING? I wondered a million times. From what I could see, they'd talk to each other, get up & walk around, and straighten stacks of paper. I promise. I watched this one woman straighten a stack of paper at least 3 times between seeing people. SOOOOOO frustrating to see what my tax dollars pay for.
Nat, I'm in Houston also and have been to this InfoPass building twice to check on our status. Both trips were a COMPLETE waste of time. The first time I went, I went around the same time you did and had a similar experience. The second time I went, I made an appointment for 7am and arrived there at 6:30am.
There were 2 people in front of me waiting to check in. Finally around 5 til 7, they opened up the window and started checking us in. I waited about 10-15 minutes before being called up and then was told nothing new.
But at least I didn't have to wait an hour and a half to be told nothing new.

First of all:
Done!
She will need to receive and then return packet 3 before an interview will be scheduled. Has he/she done this yet?No, she has not. but I read here that she doesn't have to? Or maybe I read it wrong.
Under section: "Packet 3 Contains:"
Update 11/09/07 for Immigrant visas: Embassy does not issue Packet 3.
What does that mean?
