  1. your daughter should have come with you

    - Would that would have been possible, that would have happened.

when you arrived in the u.s. and received your green card LPR you could have send for her, as immediate reltave, follow to join, or your us citizen wife could have petition for her before she becomes 18. you will need permission from your xwife, to bring your daughter to the united states

    - Appreciate your time, now can anyone answers my questions?

  2. I am a UK citizen married to my wife (a US citizen) and I have a 10 year "green card". My daughter is 15 (16 in November)and living in the UK and wishing to move here with us.

I understand my wife can apply to have my daughter come over, which is likely to be a little swifter than if I were to. I have a few questions relating to all this:

    1) My daughter is somewhat worried by the embassy interview in London (she will be attending with my ex-wife) - what sort of questions will they ask her?

    2) Once approved what type of visa is she likely to receive and what would be the time-frame in which she must travel over here?

    3) If I become Naturalized whilst my daughter is here, does this affect her in any way - or must she become Naturalized herself?

    4) Will my daughter need to have a medical as I did (I came over on K3)?

Is there anything else I should know about this?

  3. staying off vj works for me

At the risk of seeming anti-VJ I'd have to agree. Naturally most will be stressed to some degree about not only being seperated but fearing the whole process. Sure horror stories can be found here but normally people who sail through the whole thing don't seek out forums such as VJ and post all their (positive) experiences.

Just do your very best to not obsess like I did, remember that you have a legitimate case (hopefully) and as a consequence there should be no major problems - it will work out eventually (though never soon enough).

    Buy some chocolate too.

  4. Things look like they're a little speedier than when my wife and I first started our process - though obviously it can never be fast enough.

The worry of it all was making me ill, yet on the way home from my final interview all I could think about was ultimately how much I had worried about nothing. No evil interviews, no nastiness whatsoever - everyone at the Charlotte, NC office were very friendly.

Thanks for the bread recipe, perhaps I've just been unlucky with yeast - I'll give it a try over the holidays.

Seasonal regards (Merry Christmas) to both you and your special someone, if anything we've been through can help you stay sane please feel free to message us

  5. Finally had my AoS interview (from K3) yesterday - been in US for over two years (filing done shortly before end of K3 expiration) and it was accepted in minutes. A one year stamp in passport (at my request - as she took my recently received EAD card) and 10 year card is to follow in the mail.

I cannot begin to try and convey just how much stress I've been through over this entire process, my wife and I had nothing to hide, was just the simple fact that someone, somewhere had (and has) the ability to come between me and my wife's ability to be together.

My reason for this post is largely redundant I suppose, I just wanted to add another voice to those that say try, not to worry - if you have a legitimate relationship (both on sides) there should be nothing to worry about. Sadly it will take what seems like forever). Don't stress on the negative posts on this forum either, for you will find one or two

If anyone can now tell me where I can get a decent loaf of bread I shall be completely content, a basic crusty loaf recipe is welcome (English style) - my knack for baking bread in the US is but a figment of my imagination at the moment, Walmart carries nought in that department and even Harris Teeter (snob central) have very little for a big price

(no offence intended to those who like that Bunny stuff )

  6. Not yet, I just flew in to the US about a week ago.. as money isn't exactly in abundance but we're hoping to begin with the next week or so - hope that's not too much of a delay (so as to appear as lack of commitment).

After being seperated for a year being together again has taken a near surreal flavour

I know how you feel! The process takes entirely too long. :)

Good luck with your AOS filing. The forms are pretty straight-forward, at least.

Thanks, best wishes on the upcoming wedding :)

Can anyone help detail the cost of filing for AOS or point me in the right direction?

  7. Well finally I have an interview date for my K3 visa and I'm wondering - if it's a non-immigrant visa.. do I need to proves ties to my country of birth (job, rent, etc) to be able to meet the criteria?

Or am I not understanding something again (quite likely)
