  1. @jmari:

Good luck to your parents interview on thursday.Don't worry,Interview by consul is just easy as 1,2,3.My parents done their interview last 21 December

2009.Basis questions like what is your petitioner's work, place they travel outside the country and pictures of them together.

    It won't last 15 minutes.

My parents will be leaving the country by 22 January 2010 bound MLA-LAX.

'Grats Donpobre. My parents are booked for the 26th.

  2. @yonkersvan:

my parents live in olongapo city and I belive that bulacan is more nearer than gapo from manila, their passport with visa arrive after

just two working days along with all the documents my sister submitted during processing.you can call AIR21 and ask about your parents

documents but be sure you have the tracking number ready. The tracking number is a 12 digit number at the upper right of the receipt.

    hope it helps

    @Donprobre:

WOw, that is cheap. Unfortunately, PAL doesn't fly in the east coast.

Regarding my parents' visa delivery, I told them that it should arrive in 2-3 days as per the threads that I read here.

I was about to take a shower this morning to go to work when I got a call from my Mom to let me know that they received it!

    Thanks all!

    And oh, congrats Donporbre.

  3. mom and dad went to their medical on jan4-5. they're done by 10am jan5 after receiving the stamp on their interview notice, cd xray and immunization results. At that time they were there, it's just my parents getting the stamp from the guard while there's a long line for those who are required to undergo yet another test or something. My dad told me there's this woman who was required to check for sputum test & psychiatric test. thank God both of my parents are cleared and ready for their interview this monday..

    Good luck Mooninlove.

BTW, my agent quoted my $699 one way from MNL to IAD via Northwest/Delta. Yey!

  4. My friend is a citizen of the usa and his mother lives in jamaica, he plans to file for here in a few months from now. However, she has a 16 year old son. Should my friend aslo filed for his younger brother or should the mother file for the son when she get her green card?

    Hi,

I was in the same situation.

I filed for my parents and my sisters.

Parents just passed their interview and hopefully be here in a few weeks.

I'm planning to get my dad petition for my sisters when he gets his green card.

My petition will then serve as a back up.

Remember, if the petitioner dies, so does the petition too.

  5. Congratulations!! How was it? On my case, well my parents just wrapped up their 2 day medical at St.Lukes today and were given the cd xray results and immunization. They took their passports and now getting ready for their interview this Monday.

According to my mom, they only asked questions about my job, when I got married, when I moved to Canada and I moved to the US, my wife's job and the reason why I was late registered, etc.

I told my parents to bring a picture album from last year (as per advice from a member here) when we went back home for our vacation. The consul went through all our pictures and asked questions about the pics.

Anyhow, my parents live in Bulacan and was told that it will take 10 business days for their visa to arrive.

    Is this normal?

    Thanks to everyone!

  6. yeah but he had applied for 35 of his family members and half of them are already here. it seems like he knows about the happenings of immigration process but i guess i would have to verify myself.

    Wow, 35?

How much does he make? Don't you have to be financially qualified to sponsor?

35 applications, I would guess, he makes millions!

    LOL!

  7. Anyone interested to get tickets from Manila to US (or US to Manila), PM me.

My local agent will work with you and find the cheapest ticket.

She quoted me $725 from Manila to DC on January 20th, 2010 for a one-way ticket.

Round trip should be high-$700's to low $800's. She told me that the sale starts on the 20th.

Note: I'm not related to this agent nor do I make money from her.

I'm just passing the deal to everyone.

  8. @yorkersvan:

The reps you spoke to was right.Same what my parents did last Dec.21 interview.they passed the interview and just waiting for

their passport to be delivered by air21 to our doorsteps backhome.:dance::dance:

A bit of advice, ask your parents o bring photos of you together with your parents(like wedding or something). The IO ask my parents

if they have photos of them together with my sister, luckily I ask them to bring along some of the photos taken during my sisters wedding.

Good Luck to you parents interview!

I appreciate your inputs donpobre. I just spoke to my Mom and I forgot to tell her about the pictures, thank you for reminding me.

'Grats to your parents by the way.

  9. hi good luck on your parents interview. I'm browsing thru and gathering infos on how to bring my parents here. I haven't submitted their applications yet. I was wondering how long is the process took for your mom and dad? When did you apply? How long was it? And about the I-864 Affidavit of Support, is it okay if my husband co-sponsor or someone else co-sponsor? I stop working because we just had a baby and I have to take care of her. Also, I thought if my mama and papa is here, my mom can help with taking care of my baby while I go back to work. Am not too confident of leaving my baby to strangers to take care of, also it's expensive.

I submitted the first sets of documents mid-July this year.

We received the medical/interview notice on 11.28.2009 so it took 4.5 months.

Interview is set for early January 2010, so 6 months total.

Yes, your husband can co-sponsor and/or other family members.

    Good luck Ma'am.

  10. Yes, embassies can request all original documents to be produced at the interview.

If they said to bring everything - then bring everything, better to have to much than not enough.

I already sent all original documents including my birth cert and my marriage cert, both original copies.

I only have one copy of these. The interview notice says "O" on these documents which is "The original documents has been received and accepted as meeting post requirements". Does it mean I don't have to give my parents these documents anymore?

    Thanks a bunch.

  11. My parents went for their medical exam a few weeks ago and told me that there was a message on Saint Luke's monitors (the hospital where they had their medical exam) saying that they should bring every original supporting documents on their interview. Is this true?

I also sent my AOS with my Tax return for 2008 plus pay stubs plus offer letter from my current employer on my application. Do I still need to send them a copy of I-864 and Income Tax Return for their interview?

Thanks very much. By the way, their interview is scheduled early next month! Thanks everyone for their help during this process.

It depends. Look at your email notice and find out what missing docs or requirements they need to bring. If it says you need to provide this then they must bring it. My notice (btw, their interview will be next month!) says they need to bring their passports, interview notice, medical results(this is directly sent to the USE) and 2x2 photos..Goodluck!

    Hi Mooninlove,

There's one note on the reminder saying:

IF a sponsor filed an I-864 (Affidavit of Support) AND provided the NVC with proof of an IRS Federal Income Tax Extension in lieu of a Federal Income Tax Return, the applicant must bring the sponsor's most recent Federal Income Tax Return to the visa interview.

I did sent the I-864 with my Federal Income Tax Return for 2008, plus my pay stubs for several months plus my offer letter for my current employer.

Do I still need to send my parents the AOS + Income Tax Return documents?

    Thanks again.

  13. I paid for the IV fees for both of my parents a day before I received an email that I can do so.

After a few days, I called NVC and was told that I should have waited for the email before paying even if the site allows me to. The rep also added that it will take them 10-15 business days for them to fix this.

I called again after a few minutes and was told that it's OK. So, I don't really know which is true.

Anyhow, after 3 days, my payment cleared and was able to print the cover page and was able to mail both of my parents' DS-230.

  14. I sent my I-864 for both of my parents on one envelop (one for each applicant) a few weeks ago.

Last night, I received an email that they received my dad's I-864 and that they need the DS-230 + other required documents (which I mailed last Friday and they received it last Tuesday, again, one envelop for both of my parents).

I was expecting I would receive a confirmation email for my mom's I-864 too, but haven't got any yet. I called last night if it's OK to send 2 applications in one envelop and was told that it's OK.

My question now is, is it normal that applications for both parents are not done/processed at the same time?

How soon should I expect for them to process my mom's I-864 docs?

    Thanks again.

  15. Called NVC a while ago to check on the status and just to verify that me (the petitioner) and the NVC are in the same page.

I logged in at http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4354.html yesterday just to check things out and behold, the site showed that I could pay my parent's IV fees so I went ahead and paid.

So, today, when I called NVC, the I asked them what the next step is, what they received and what I expect to receive next.

I also told them that the site let me pay for IV fee. The representative told me that I would be penalized 10-15 days for them to correct it because they just mailed the IV bill today and that I should have waited for it to arrive to me.

I called again after a few minutes and the 2nd rep told me that as long as I can see it (IV fee), then I should be able to pay for it.

So, now, I'm confused. Do I need to wait for the IV bill to arrive before paying for it?

Am I going to be penalized 10-15 working days for them to correct my "mistake" of paying the IV fee before they were able to ship the bill to me?

I thought it was smart for me to follow what I read here on this link:

    http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...he_NVC_ShortCut

    Please enlighten me.

  16. Congrats to everyone.

Quick question, what does NVC mean? I see the chart being posted here but can't figure out what it means.

    Thanks.

NVC is abbriviation of National Visa Center

all petition go to NVC after approval

I received the I-864 package a few days ago.

My parents signed and mailed this back.

I also sent the affidavit of support documents.

Does it mean that I have past the "NVC" process?
