  1. Hi,

Has anyone here experienced their fiancee having TB, and finishing the treatment just before the medical exam. If the fiancee gets a clear xray at the medical exam, will everything be ok with no delays?

    Thanks for any information,

    James

Wouldn't it be extremely unlikely to have a clear xray after having TB? I think sputum tests are likely... with an 8 week delay. (but I am no expert)

  2. I am WAY freaking out now! I called the NVC's AVR system today and it said that the I was "missing" information. Yesterday the AVR said it had "received documents and that they will review and inform of the outcome." So, I spoke to an operator today and he said they were waiting for the ds-230 package from my husband, I told him that it was send that in last Thursday. He said he saw "something" had come in on Monday. He said not to worry that it was just the ds-230 package that was missing and that I should ignore the message on the AVR since they are probably still reviewing the ds-230 that we sent in. Probably?? Argh....is this a false RFE?? I thought we would have case complete by the end of the week or early next week  Someone please tell me what this means????

I had the same thing happen. When I called them, they said they DID have the DS-230. In my case it was a "cross in the mail" situation. They are slow to receive mail. Sounds similar here, they have just not finished receiving the DS-230. The AVR message continued to say "missing info" all along - best to talk directly to an operator. So in summary, don't worry too much about this. (but call an operator to make sure everything is proceeding)

  3. well, i was sitting here trolling around VJ reading other members posts and saw few with the recent interview dates and such. And guess what..........Suddely a pop up on my computer tells me , i have an email from NVC with the case number and bla bla blah.

My heart sank for a moment......thinking if this is another RFE after the case complete, or even if that is possible. Oh no...

So I slowly opened my email to find out that this was the Nocite of the appointment.

THe interview date is October 14 . Yay.........

Got the same email! Our interview is October 19!

  4. Has anybody experienced a denied biometrics walk in for N400? I won't make the appointment for biometrics on Sep 3, and was asked to TAKE BACK my I797, compared to reschedule and SURRENDER the original I797 and wait for new I797 with different date. The supervisor initialed the biometrics form and told me to come back whenever I return in the country. My concern Isn't this be considered abandonment of application if you don't show up for fingerprinting, and don't reschedule.

    Thanks George

Yes, I was denied a walk-in. However, I went to the local DO (without an appointment) and an IO was able to schedule my finger prints that same day. It was a hand-written template appointment letter with the original notice stapled to it. I then went back to the finger print facility and was processed the same day.

  5. I hope it changes.. but the problem is that it doesnt say in progress or in status, it still says NOT PAID! this is frustrating!

Another question: do we have to send the email about the choice of agent when we send the form, the ds3032?

My IV bill also went from "In Process" to "Not Paid". It transitioned to "Paid" in about 2 business days. This appears to be "normal". My AOS bill was faster. Only 1 day.

  6. The spirit of a Wiki is that it is to be updated at will - by anyone.

Personally I would just update it - people can look to see what changes are made and decide if they want to change certain things.

Yeah, thats my plan. But I didn't want to just jump in and change it since its not my work to begin with. This is just an advance warning, and a chance for others to review my updates before I update the wiki. I haven't completed NVC yet, so I may gather a few more updates in the coming weeks.

  7. LingChe NVC Shortcut is a great resource! It is easy to read and well organized. However it has been a while since its been updated. Things have changed in the mean time. Some of it is misleading.

Please see the pdf attachment for some proposed changes. More may be added in the near future.

Looking for feedback now. Please see changes in red. If everything looks ok, then the next steps of updating the wiki can be taken.

Best of luck with everyones particular visa journey!

  8. Please anyone....I JUST received the emails for the AOS fee and the DS-3032. I talked to an NVC operator and they said I have to scan in the signed DS-3032 (argh my scanner is broken!!) and email it as an attachment. Is this true or did you guys just send in the email format given from James/LingChe shortcuts WITHOUT the attachment?? I really want to just send the email from my husbands account, but I don't want to do it incorrectly. Thanks in advance.

I would recommend sending in the barcoded signed DS-3032 overnight. It seems to be faster than email.

  9. Becoming an American Citizen, is rather unnecessary for most Canadians. However consider this. I resisted for years but then found myself in a situation where I needed it and couldn't get it for a long long time.

You never know, you may also find yourself in some situation where it would be desirable to have US citizenship. For example: A lot of jobs require it. If things don't work out with your US spouse, it would be much better to have the choice all of North America to look for a job. What if you can't find one in Canada?

You never lose your Canadian citizenship. so whats the problem? And the fun part is you can act like a double agent. Use the Canadian passport going into Canada, and the US one going into the US.

I recommend keeping the Canadian passport current. It can be handy for travelling as US citizens often get hammered with extra fees or are simply banned. Case in point: Day trip to China from Hong Kong. Canadian can get instant visa at the border. US Citizen.. forget it! Pay $300 and wait a week.

  10. If your husband already filed his tax returns, you could get the IRS transcripts by the IRS automated phone service.

It should get to you in less than a week.

IRS will fax you the transcript instantly if you like. (no need for W-2 in this case, transcript is everything you need) You need to have access to a Fax AND a phone at the same time since they remain on the line to make sure you received the Fax.

  11. My wife emailed the text template too, but I am backing it up by sending a hardcopy of DS-3032 signed.

Hey all....I just spoke to one of the NVC operators that said once the DS-3032 is issued, that my husband will either need to mail or email it (she said if emailing, the form will need to be scanned and then sent via email).

I think its time to update the wiki pages! They are horribly out of date. Its not clear if the scanned DS-3032 should be emailed as an attachment or if the text template is good enough.

    Other updates needed:

    1. Take out the part about asking an operator for Invoice number
    2. Stress how important it is to call an operator and give emails the day your case goes online
  12. One person can be approved within 17 days, others the full 5 months process times. Its a ####### shoot.

Ain't that the truth! USCIS must throw everything into a bin and then its the luck of the draw! I can't imagine how else there can be so much disparity.

When I asked an IO about the "Priority Date", he said once you apply as a citizen there is no priority date. They don't seem to care much about processing things in order received.

  13. Just curious is the folks processing our paperwork are familiar with this site and whether that is seen as a plus. Although I would probably be disappointed to discover we are less than a blip on the radar.

    Mark

I really doubt whether they look at the site much but I am sure they have all heard of these web-sites. They might look at for a laugh once in a while.

Believe me, I would love for them to see my complaints here.. but I seriously doubt they have. I favor drafting and sending letters to officials in charge - at least someone probably reads it.

If one doesn't have a loved one in process... would you still look at this site? Most wouldn't including them. JMHO

  14. Guys , one quick question...D:,

should I name my husband the agent even though he's overseas or should I name myself the agent? I heard whoever is named the agent has to pay the bills. I guess my mother in law can always forward him the physical mail. But an opinion would be great. ^ ^

It would be much faster if you are the agent. I don't think it matters who pays the bills as long as they are paid! The online payment web-site gives some choices like Beneficiary, Petitioner, Attorney to identify whos paying.

  15. Has anyone contacted NVC to get their case number? Is it too soon to call? They sent my paperwork August 6th.

Depends what "sent my paperwork" means. What your NOA2 says or if you really called USCIS and confirmed that they sent it on that date. (those two dates seems to vary widely!)

In any case it doesn't hurt to check it. The phone call is less than 5 minutes.
