Thank you for your replies. I will ask the people at the Hospital, I will see if the medicaid thing might work too. Thanks again.

Not if the questions are 100% opposites. People tend to ignore some questions sometimes.
Hey everyone, do you like cheese?
Hey everyone, want to go horseback riding?
I'd rather make two different topics for the two, I don't want my cheese near my horses.

they have a program for people who don't earn enough money to get free service here in Virginia. They didn't seem like it'd be a problem when we were there, but I wanted to double check.

What if someone lost their job and they could apply for free medical treatment through their program? would that be a problem? thanks again

What if a resident didn't get their ssn with in 2 years of being a resident?
-
I didn't know where to post this one, so I hope this is in the right section
I have a few questions, if a resident goes to the hospital, are they allowed to get free service or since they are residents do they have to pay full price? everything that is done in a hospital is private, correct?
Also, once a person is a legal resident, what kind of things can they do to lose their chances of becoming a legal citizen?
( I already know the obvious things like breaking the law )
Thank you for your help

Hello, I just had a quick question, How long after someone getting a green card should they apply for an SSN? Is there any lime limit? Thank you
-
"If you are a lawful permanent resident “green card holder,” you may leave the U.S. multiple times and re-enter, as long as you do not intend to stay outside the U.S. for 1 year or more.
If you intend to stay outside the U.S. for 1 year or more, you must apply for a re-entry permit with the USCIS prior to leaving the U.S. Re-entry permits are generally valid for 2 years from the date of issuance. Therefore, if you are outside of the U.S. longer than the date the permit was issued, you may be denied entry into the U.S."
I got that from the website. My wife has her Residence card. I am going to buy the tickets
Thanks if anyone else has any input please put it in. Also I will have to put a timeline soon. Just not much time to do it.

Lol nothing, we are planning to visit family. But I wanted to make sure the 2 months and a half or so outside of America would it effect anything. I heard if you stay out for 6 months or more it would make it to start all over again for citizenship because you have to live here for 5 years. Is it okay to leave for this period of time though? and after citizenship she could leave for longer periods? yes? thanks

We got her travel visa two months ago, and it said that she might not be able to come back into America if she left. What exactly does that mean? Is it just incase they find drugs or something or do they just randomly choose to let you come back in or not? thanks

The people are me, my wife who originally had the K-1 Visa and my Mother who is the joint sponsor. Thanks

Something like that, we only needed two things we left out though, but all was filled out and is fine now.

No need to apologize Lancer. Payxibka what do you mean by "the individual's immigration status is only a small part of the decision criteria" Would filing it cause any problems? thanks.

November, but would that matter? it isn't really for me, it would be done through H&R block, it would be because the person who is sponsoring us is claiming her as she is sponsoring someone. We have most of the paper work, we should need a number I guess? A Number is the only number we have and we were not sure if it'd be legal or not, but we do know H&R block would tell us whether it was or not once filed, but I wanted to double check. thanks.
Also in the paper we have it says daughter in laws qualify.

It would be for 2008, and all I have is a receipt for adjustment of status. Everything else is still pending. It doesn't have to be done, but I was just curious about it. thanks.

So far we have not received an EAD because of the initial evidence request, but we should be getting it soon we Pray. We got an RFE on the I-485 which stopped the whole process for the time being until we sent the information in which has already been sent.
-
Yes, I meant the form I 864, but it looks like it might be a bit too difficult the way lancer made it sound.

Sorry again, I thought this still applied as a K1 visa.
I believe where I was told to send everything to was Lees Summit MO, not Chicago?
-
Sorry for the confusion ... if anyone can help with answering please do so.
-
It sucks you guys broke up did you at least get a refund from that crazy lawyer?

I am just asking for some advice in the whole K1 Visa process. I am not exactly sure of everything since I am new to the forums.
So any help would be appreciated as to where I should go next, and what I should do.
We did the interview in her home country, filed all the paperwork there with the help of a lawyer ( I can't remember any of the files I think we filed a 129-f? )
She came here late 2008, we got married with in the 3 months, filed for the I-864, I-131, I-765, and I-485.
We got the receipts(NOA1?) for I-131, I-765 and I-485
We went for the biometrics.
We got a request for initial evidence last month which has already been sent off.
Basically I am just following their instructions. Can anyone here give me any tips or anything on what to do? When I should file for naturalization? anything else I should file for before naturalization? Are there supposed to be anymore appointments after her biometrics? any help would be great. Thanks.

The question made sense ... a person who came here on a K1 visa, can they be filed on the co-sponsors taxes as a dependent?
-
Just a question, is it legal for a joint sponsor to file on their taxes? if so what kind of information would they need? Tax ID number? Social? A number? just wondering thanks everyone.

He told me his lawyer said it was okay, and another question I have is what if the husband helped with her and he accepted the money? or should he just do it alone?
Help with Peruvian immigrantion laws.

Hello, my wife came here back in Oct 2008 and we got married on the K1 visa, we did all the papers in America as told and everything is fine with the American government, but we didn't think to file any new papers telling the Peruvian government we got married or her new address.
She said she read that she may have to pay a 50 dollar fine and go to court if she didn't tell them that she was married with in 90 days.
Is this true? if so what can we do to avoid this from happening and why would they need to know? it's not like we're living in their Country. Any help please?
Also according to what she has read - she is FORCED to vote for a new law that they may pass. She has to vote yes or no regardless of her status living in America, and they don't even allow online access to vote, so that means we have to travel to a Peruvian embassy over 100 miles away to vote for this law.
Does she really have to vote?
Please help, thanks.
