  1. Hello all,

As we all know this site is so helpful in getting things done. From all the forms to helping get into the USA with our loved one. What about trying to find other couples that have gone through what we have here and trying to find each other in specific area's. My wife is from Colombia and we are here in East Tennessee. I have tried to see if there is a way to possibly search for people that live in our general area that maybe she could have a connection. Specifically maybe someone from Colombia as well or spanish speaking persons. Does anyone know if there is a way to find other people from specific countries who may live in specific areas of the US?

  2. One thing I did was to be redundant. I submitted forms all over the place as requested. But I also brought copies of all the forms just in case. I honestly can't remember what forms when anymore, but I wasn't about to take a chance to arrive and need something when they ask and not have it. Make copies, carry them with you to all the interview, etc...if you don't need it, no problem, if you do and don't have it, then all you did was add more time...

  3. The wife had her laboratory appointment March 11th, the medical exam on March 15th, and we had her interview on March 17th. She resides in Ibague and the visa was to be delivered there. They called and said there was a problem concerning her ID number and her passport number that they weren't the same, since her passport was issued prior to the ID being given prior to her 18th birthday. But with faxing her birth certificate and such, the visa was just received this past monday March 29th. According to the documents for the delivery service, that it will be delivered 7-10 business days. It doesn't matter were in the line you are when you arrive to line 3. We were within the first 20 people, but one of the last people to be seen. It sounded as if they called the people via their names, and it was the first name and not the last. Her first name is Viviana...bring pictures, they usually request to see some kind of pictures. You will be able to stay with her the entire time except for the actual interview at the window. They want to talk to her alone. Then if you are there with her, they will usually ask for you to step up, and they will ask you a few questions as well. If you have any other questions just shoot them to me, since i literally just finished the interview process this very month...expect to be there for awhile. We were there for 6.5 hrs.

  4. Is it saying that you have to pay before you get the interview date? Or do you get the interview date and then go pay? I have already paid the $400 visa fee here in the states to the NVC. This is so complicated and i think they do this on purpose to get people discourage to try to quit...jaja

From looking at it again, as you mentioned it says non-immagrant visa, are you working on that or a CR-1?

Awesome, so it is the embassy jumping the gun. Great news! Heck that's the cost of my airfare so it'll help if we can make it in time.

    Thanks for the info!

Oh and hey! Good Luck Monday! I bet you guys are excited!

Congratz on making it this far and enjoy the future.

Oh and if you're looking for a great steak and like here at home. Go to Taurus resturant around the corner from the Hard Rock Cafe..... Great Place! Romantic, Argentinian Beef etc. Check it out.

    Thanks again!

  5. We have our appointment next wensday. I do not know of any payments to be made to a bank. The only payment that the wife has needed to make was for her DAS documents. According to this page from the bogota embassy webpage, http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/cons...vapptfeb010.pdf it states that all payments are to be paid at the embassy at the cashier. You can read it for your self. Not meaning in any derogatory remark. Since reading your question i have been looking at the embassy webpage as well as the NVC page with any specific requirements for colombia. This is the only thing that i have come up with. Also having been in the military, i have never come across the situation that the US government ever had a person go to a bank to make a payment for services that they provide. Of course i could be wrong, but i sure hope i am not....i wish you and your wife luck...

  6. I am just a little ahead of you my friend and will tell you what has happened so far for us.

i received a letter from the NVC stating that they received the approval of eligibility from the USCIS. The first bill is $70 and you will have to send in DS-3032 choice of agent and address form. I know that an choice of agent and address form was sent with the USCIS form but another one has to be completed since it is with a different agency i suppose. I paid for and sent that form in this month as of October 6th. Amazingly 20 days later on october 26th i receive another request for payment. This one is $400 which is the IV fee and i have to send in the I-864 affidavit of support forms which i will sent tomorrow via Fed Ex. I sent the first set of documents Fed Ex as well. So that is where i am at, just two or three steps ahead of you. Concerning the website, the only thing that i have found so far is the payment online section, but that is not eligible until you receive your first request for payment because you will need numbers from that form to enter into the payment site with. I am not familiar with the faxing of packet three. I hope this helps because it can be very confusing. A friend of mine went through this with him wife about 7 years ago and he thought he was all familiar with the process and forms. Just from then to now things have changed dramatically. i will just be very happy once i have my wife with me and to be done with all of this. Please if you just let me know how things are going for you in the process. You may come across something that i could learn and we can help each other if and when it is needed. Take care and i wish you all the best of luck..paul

  7. It turned out to be a change of address verification. I had to change my address at the post office from my physical house address to a PO Box do to recent job change and less frequently at my house..

The post office must have informed the USCIS, but along with that notice was a letter of approval....!!!!!!!!!! onto the NVC,,,,

  8. My fellow Visajourney peeps. I am away from my home and received this update via email. Does anyone know if this means anything in particular? Does it mean it was approved? Does it mean there is a problem and they are requesting information? Just doesn't mean anything? I am only asking this because i am not able to get to my mail at my residence for almost a month. This application was submitted i think June 19th so it would be just under 3 months, of course i would have no problem for that to be a good thing, all answers are appreciated....Paul...

  9. I just returned from Colombia on the 11th and was married on the 5th of May. From what i experienced is what the others have said.

I got my birth certificate with apostille and spanish translation, on my birth certificate i printed on the computer that i had been married previously but currently an divorced and is eligable to marry.

I got my divorce documents with apostille and spanish translation.

    Copies of my passport.

Her birth certificate which shows if she has been married before, etc...

Then there was the 6 day waiting period to see if anyone would protest the marriage, the waiting period was done prior to my arrival luckily

I even had to have a translator due to the notaries request since i do not speak much spanish.

I had even gone to the embassy in bogota and obtained a sworn statement that i was single and had the US seal and everything.

It was somewhat of a pain but eventually we got it done. From what i have been told one notary can request this or that and another request something different. Like it was said before have your spouse call and ask before hand obviously. Anything else let me know if i can help. I am getting ready to start the I-130 stuff here shortly.

By the way where is your spouse located? Mine is in the city of Ibague....

    Paul
