  1. I emailed GUZ, they didn't give me a straight answer, but said they would open the files transferred electronically according the transfer time. They said they would open the files in several weeks.

What is confusing is that looking at the timelines at VJ, they are opened very quickly. So I am hoping the several weeks is just an official answer, not the actual timeline.

  2. I can't get this to work for me.

I am not sure if you can track the exact package, since you have to try a couple days before or a couple days after. try any one of these:

    EXP 31 JUL 2009A

    EXP 31 JUL 2009B

    EXP 31 JUL 2009C

    EXP 03 AUG 2009A

    EXP 03 AUG 2009B

    EXP 03 AUG 2009C

    EXP 04 AUG 2009A

    EXP 04 AUG 2009B

    EXP 04 AUG 2009C

It's be great if someone here knows more, for example, it'll be always the dates before the date NVC gives you...I am hoping that's true.

  3. Hello All,

Ping and I, known on this site as EZgoing378, met in Guangzhou, China recently to see each other and to go to the Consulate for her interview. I am happy to report that Ping did a wonderful job in her interview and received her K-1 visa. She will join me in the US by the end of August. For those that want details on the interview, please go to our Profile page and then to our timeline. I completed a report. I believe you can review the Interview reports from there.

Any Questions? I am happy to answer. Either direct them here or send a message here on VJ.

Now once I get my bride home, we will continue the process and move on to AOS EAD AP..... the alphabet soup of immigration but it will be much easier together. I appreciate everyone's assistance on these 278 days on the first leg of our Visa Journey.

    Ping and George

Congratulations! And thank you for offering to answer questions. I am sure I'll be asking you some questions since my fiancee is also in China :)

  4. Dear everyone,

my American fiance and I are deciding to apply a visa for me to get back to America to start our beautiful life together. We don't really wanna hire an attorny, because we are able to handle the process on our own.

But one thing is really really confusing, which is whether to apply for K1 or K3, whether we should get married in China or in America.

which visa will be faster to obtain/approve, K1 or K3?

Please offer me some your experience and suggestion.

    really really appreciate.

    All the best,

    Hua

I was told K-1 was the fastest route. And that's what I did. However, I am not sure if that's true through a lot of reading on the forums. Especailly when you are in China. GuangZhou has a electronic option for CR-1. You might want to do some research before deciding. But then again, with the time you spend researching, it might be the same in the end. Good luck!

  5. Our case was approved by USCIS on June 24. As of today the petitions still have not been received at NVC. The NVC office told me they cannot do anything until it has been 90 days past the USCIS approval. I waited 7 months+ for NOA-2. I have never seen anyone take so long to get the NVC case number. Does anyone know of my options to request information about the status of my case and what is causing the delay?

We received our NOA2 approval July 1st and NVC just received our case!! We had to ask help from the congressman's office.. we were very lucky the girl at the congressman's office was very helpful... we just got our case number today hopefully the consulate will get it next week!!!

You may try contacting the congressman's office...

When did you ask for help? Did you find out why it took longer than usual?

We asked for help wednesday last week.. then the congressman's office asked us to send the privacy form thursday then early today we sent her the copy of the noa2... then this afternoon when we called nvc they told us they just got our case and gave us our new case number...

I didnt ask the congessman's office anymore the reason why it took more than 3 weeks to get to NVC...

Hum... I wonder if it just took that long for them to receive the case... Or your congressman's office was super efficient on this. Congratulations! I wish luck for all of us!

  7. ugh. I just had 4 of my co-workers walk past my office, do a double take, and ask me if I'm all right. I haven't been able to sleep or eat much the past few weeks, and I guess it's starting to show. Oops. Guess it's time to start taking care of myself of Lamine's not going to recognize me when we finally see one another again.

The number should be 603-334-0700. I have heard that you need to talk to a live person to find out because they don't store K-1 visa info on their phone system. Good luck to all!

NVC doesn't have my file yet, I'm not giving up hope for today yet however. I'm going to call back right before they close tonight that way it will save me tomorrow mornings call. According to VJ their processing files with an approved date of July 19th so I'm hoping that mine will get done sometime today.

Gratz to Perry and Elena!!!!

    Hi Jauque,

What number did you call to find out whether they had received it yet? My fiance called earlier but she could not get through.

    Thanks in advance

Oops. Just posted my reply to the wrong message...

  8. I am trying to get more info about this new program at NVC where they send files to GuangZhou electronically.

I heard for K-1 visas, it's all being done electronically. Is it true? Are they any recent GuangZhou petitioners or finance(e)s here? I am very curious about this and hope they are indeed doing things electronically to speed the process up!

    Thanks!

Um, well, I am currently in the process of a K-1 visa for my fiance, who lives in Guilin, China, and we received our NOA 2 on July 7, and no one has mentioned anything about electronic transfers. Our attorney said that our files are being sent to Guangzhou and may take 2-3 months just going through customs. So, I assume this is snail mail transfer.

Over at candleforlove site, someone said electronic process for K-1 was automatic. I don't know how to check if the case is received by GuangZhou, but I imagine you can give them a call to find out. Have you called NVC to find out if they indeed received your case and has sent it out? Their phone number is 603-334-0700. Could you update your timeline for the benefits of others like me? You can do it via the "My assistant" link on the top of the home page.

    Thanks!

  9. Does anyone know about his? I was reading and found out just now. I am not sure how reliable this is. They said it would be much faster. http://guangzhou.usembassy-china.org.cn/iv_k1/k2.htm

This new program may speed things a little for K visas but it's theoretically going to be a real timesaver for the CR1 and IR1.

See this note for K visa applicants.

Please Note: The NVC electronic processing project for K visa (fiancée/spouse non-immigrant visa), has different procedures. For these cases, although the petitions are loaded electronically, the U.S. Consulate in Guangzhou still contacts visa beneficiaries to provide more documents prior to interview scheduling.

If you are a K visa applicant and you have opted in for electronic processing, you will still have to wait for paper Instructions via mail from the Consulate.

Even so, it sounds like the old way takes 3 to 4 months to send paper docs from NVC to China Consulate, and with this pilot program, it'll be couple days. That saves more than 3 months!

The trouble is that the reliability of the pilot program is not known. If things go wrong, it might end up taking more time.

And about the 3 to 4 months time to send docs from NVC to China Consulate, I hope it's not true.

Theoretically yes. However, the "sending" isn't the problem. The delay is all about GUZ not taking delivery of packages sitting in the nearby DHL warehouse until they are ready to act on them. With this electronic program, they can simply not act on information stored on their server instead of papers in a warehouse. The problem is more work than staff, resulting in a backlog. Electronic processing won't do a thing to solve the "too much work for the existing staff", problem. Until I see them actually send out a P3 for a K visa or an interview letter for a CR1 or IR1 sooner, I'm going to hold on any predictions of shorter timelines.

Where this shortens the timelines on typical immigrant visa cases (not K3) is that documents will no longer be mailed across the ocean both ways during the NVC stage of the process. I say "typical" because if you use the shortcuts, you have the documents all ready before NVC requests them anyway. The typical case doesn't use the shortcuts.

When I look at timeline like http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=67197

    I-129F NOA2 : 2009-05-19

    NVC Received : 2009-05-27

    NVC Left : 2009-05-27

    Consulate Received : 2009-05-28

    Packet 3 Received : 2009-06-04

I wonder if they used this new pilot program
