  1. Hello everyone...first of all good luck to the people here who are still filing for any types of immigration process...well hang in there guys...i myself still waiting for AOS to be approved. Anyways im here to ask if there is any malaysians or just any asians living somewhere in southern california? kinda bored here with no friends to chat with :(

  2. Well, i have all the pictures, e-mails and so on on my laptop. Does anybody knows if it could be brought to the interview? In that way i can also show all the times i've been here with my g/f because the stamps on the passport can only say that i've been in the USA (19 times since we met :))

You may want to check with your Embassy directly (many can be contacted via email) to confirm. However I doubt it, I don't even think cell phones are allowed in the Embassy. Your best bet to print everything out.....

  3. Question for all Malaysian VJers who have got their K1 visas!

What exactly do we send back to the embassy once we've got packet 3? I know that we have to submit a copy of our passport, part 1 of the DS-230, and the DSL-1076 checklist. But what is the checklist? Do we send that? Or do we send everything on the list? Just wondering so I can start collecting documents.

Also, my fiance sent in all our original documents to CSC with our I-129F package. Will that be a problem with the embassy?

Well when i got my packet 3 from the embassy i sent them DS 230 part 1 (biographic data) together with a copy of my passport. The first time i sent that i forgot to put in my case number so i had to resend again my packet 3 together writing down my case number.

Then when i knew my police certificate was on the way even before i got them in hand i sent the embassy my checked list together with signed applicant form which i got it when the embassy sending me the packet 3. At this time DO NOT SEND any documents either photocopy or original because you will only bring them on the day of your interview. When you received your packet 3 from the embassy, you will see their is a list of instructions which the embassy wants you to do such as obtaining all the documents that you need for the interview. As you obtained all the documents needed you will tick to each boxes from the check list and send them to the embassy. When the embassy see that you already got all your documents then only they will schedule your interview.

Im not sure bout you sending the original documents to the CSC..my fiance only sent photocopies. But whatever it is you MUST bring all your original documents on the day of your interview together with your photocopies.

My interview will be on the 28 next month..hopefully i will get my visa approved..my fiance and i have worked hard to be together and i wish you all the best too..cheers

  4. My fiance and I use Skype almost everyday and it must be 75-80% of how we communicate. I have been unable print our history and do not know how to proceed. I searched all the options and could not find anyway to print. I've tried highlighting the whole history so I can copy and paste into a word document. Finally I've tried navigating Skype's website to send an email to tech support but I keep getting routed back to the "support page" that isn't helping at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Our Skype history is a huge part of our proof of continuing evidence of our relationship.

    Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

    Mike

You can try using the "print screen" button and then paste to a word doc. That's how I did it....

  5. That’s a pretty cynical outlook there.

Yes you do need to sign a release. And there may quite possibly be congressional offices that have a better rapport with the USCIS than others.

All anyone can ever say is “no” so there’s never any harm in trying.

Sometimes you have to be a squeaky wheel for anything to happen.

Personally I think everyone should bombard their elected officials for help, and maybe they might end up reforming the process.

  6. My logic is what will it hurt to call the person within your congress man's office that handles immigration issues and have them make an inquiry?

I'm sure it is just a standard letter sent to the USCIS. It is my understanding that once the USCIS receives a congressional inquiry the USCIS must respond within a short timeframe as to the status of the petition.

It is one way to get their attention quickly.

The willingness to help I would assume just depends on the individual you are talking to.

If they are willing to help and make contact with the USCIS chances are the petition will start being processed...

  7. I had contacted my local Congress man's office in the past about an issue for a B-2 Visa for my fiancee and spoke to a gentleman that handles all issues with USCIS. Although he was not able to help me with the B2 Visa he did tell me to contact him at anytime during the process when applying for the K1 visa. He told me upfront that a simple request for a status from his office on the petition will most certainly light a fire under their butts. I have yet to take him up on his offer, having filed recently (NOA1 - July 1st). I figured I'd wait to cash my favor in until absolutely necessary.

I would assume that it just depends on who you talk to and how willing they are to help out.

Although tempted to call him directly to "help me out" I have refrained so that I can wait my turn.

If you are outside the normal processing times listed on the USCIS website, why not make a simple phone call to ask for help? If still within the posted time frame you may want to reserve contacting them for when you have a real issue of concern.

    Good luck on your journey.....

  8. Hi Peeps !

I just found out US consulate in Frankfurt/Germany uses an outside company to process their consular fees. I want to cover my fiance's K-1visa and medical exam costs but wonder if this would be an issue. Did anyone of you do this for your Teutonic Knight/Princess before? If yes, how did you do it and how did it work out during the interview? Did they wonder "why" etc.?

2nd question: On Visa Deposit Slip application form they ask for a birthday date. Is it supposed to be done the American way ( month-day- year)or the European way (day-month-year)?.

Any feedback would be appreciated! :help:

    Moni

Couldn't you simply wire the funds via a place like MoneyGram or Western Union? That is a fairly easy process and can be sent via the internet in minutes...... Just one way to do it

  9. There are 3 ways a "touch" could be generated. A call to the nonexistent RFE line. An email by a rep to Division 12 or an adjudicator processing your file.

I just went online and checked on the case status again today, and the "last updated" date has been updated to today's date. If it's to good to be true, it probably is. I seriously doubt they could be working on my petition this soon. I called the USCIS customer service line and got one of the robots over there. She told me that my case is being "worked on." I told her this is impossible as I just got my NOA1 several days ago. I asked her to define "worked on." She could not provide me with any additional information.

What are the typical reasons for a "last updated" date within the USCIS site being updated?

I just noticed this disclosure online when reviewing the case:

"* Note on "Last Updated" date:

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message."

What does "processing being performed on your case" mean? My file being placed in a storage box in some huge room filled with files?

  11. It could be that it is just a coincidence. Your call - to they were doing "something" with

    your file.

Yeah, but I just sent my petition off recently, I would think it is far to soon to see anything updated. I was under the impression that the file would sit in a storage room until pulled for review by an AJ. The CSC rep told me they are now working on Feb/Mar petitions and working to meet the 5 month processing time for I-129F. I guess I'm a little confused to why the "last updated" date would change. My logic was that it was because of my phone call. I've been set up to view the case status from the second the check was cashed (sent I-129F on 6/30/09, they got it on 7/1/09, check cashed 7/2/09, NOA1 dated 7/2/09, NOA1 hard copy recv'd 7/8/09).

Do they update the status when the NOA1 is sent?

I called the USCIS call center to just ask a general question and they asked for my case number. If they pulled it up during the call, would that be considered a "touch" ?

    Common sense tells me "yes"

    Thanks for the input....

No it just means your case is in the sys.

Why would the date change when I log on to the USCIS site then? Yesterday I logged into view the case status and it just had the NOA1 date. I called the call center to ask a question, and then just logged in to look at the case status, and the date was updated to today under "last updated"

Your 1st post was lacking the info in this post

    Ah I know rookie mistake....

BTW - What does a "touch" look like when you log into your case online? Maybe that's where I'm confused. Does the "last updated date" just get updated or are you able to see more info?

  14. I appreciate all of your replies. The people on this site are great. With this site I now have the confidence to move through the K1 process without an attorney. Both my fiancée and I are figuring that she has a high probability of getting turned down. Again we won't know until she tries. I’d really like to know that we tried. Additionally I think it would be nice for them to eventually see that she at least tried to visit here prior to the K1.

Do you think if I "sponsor" her with the affidavit of support it will help at all? Should I even bother with it? Everything here is legitimate and sincere.

    Thanks again everyone,

    Tony

  15. Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm thinking of having my fiancée apply for the B-2 Visa prior to sending off the K1 petition. I know her chances of getting approved for the B-2 are slim, but we have to at least try. Has anyone heard anything about when one uses the I-134 to sponsor someone when applying for a B-2 Visa? It seems like it could go either way here, everyone's situation is so different. It's really hard to find out if you'll be approved for the B-2 unless you try.

What's interesting is that it doesn't look like the US Government uses very good logic. For a K1 Visa the foreign fiancé/fiancée is making a huge life long commitment, not just to their lover but to their new country, doesn't it make sense that they should at least be allowed to visit prior to making such a huge commitment? I know it may completely blow our chances of getting my fiancée her B-2 Visa but I was thinking of mentioning (or rather having her mention) the possibility of applying for the K1 if her trip goes well. My logic is this, she does in fact have limited ties to her home country from an outsider’s point of view....not wealthy, younger, home tutors children instead of working a 9-5, lives at home with mom and dad. So I figured that if she mentions that she wants to eventually apply for the K1 she will need to be back in her home country when the time comes to complete her interview in person, medical exam, etc. I think we all know what I'm trying to do here; I'm not the first one that tried. In a perfect world she gets approved for the 6 month B-2, we apply for the K1 the day she sets foot on American soil, she goes back home before the expiration of her B-2 and before the embassy begins to contact her in preparations for her K1 interview. Thus eliminating the long and dreaded wait from the NOA2 to when her embassy contacts her.

Any feedback, opinions, advice is appreciated.

    Thanks!
