  1. From my own experiance I can tell her to bring the boy when she comes. My husband insisted we do this and it turned out to be a great idea. The child needs to get into a American school for many reasons including the social aspects. My daughter has done very well here; has become a well adjusted American teenager. She is happy in her school with many friends while being involved in all the school activities. As an example she arrived here with limited English skills but went on to win her school speech contest. These schools are amazing.

I also think its best for both of you to have the child with you. A friend left her kids and is still having a lot of problems in her life including her marrige. She just feels incomplete.

We brought my step daughter over about a year after my wife came to the US, she wanted to get settled in before her daughter came over. She was a K-3 visa and the embassy issued her daughter a K-4 follow to join about 11 months after her visa, we used a visa service in BKK so all I needed to do was a new affidavit of support for her but I think the process is pretty straightforward. I think the K-1 and K-2 process will be the same and you have a year from her visa to get the K-2. Once she got the visa she had 6 months to use it but is was good for 2 years while we did her AOS. It has worked out well, she was 8 when she got here and has adjusted great. Only drawback is that the AOS is more expensive if you do them seperate.

  2. My daughter was just born in Thailand, I am a USC and my wife has her green card but we decided to have the baby here in Thailand for various reasons. I know the process to file a counselor report of birth abroad but my problem is that the first appointment that the Bangkok embassy has for filing this is for after I have to return home to work. Can our baby come to America with a Thai passport and get her citizenship after she is there or are we going to run into problems brining her home if don't file the birth abroad report?

  3. We are K-3, married March 18th of this year. Not sure why it says K-1, checked my profile and everything there says K-3 but I will try to correct. Just got back in time for Loy Kathrong, got her medical report and police check next week and hopefully an interview soon after we are done with that. Be here for a few weeks and hope next time I come is last time I have to go home without her. You have an interview date yet?

Finally got my NVC case numbers and they said our file was transferred to the embassy two days ago, hopefully when I go back next week we will get packet 3 in and hope for a quick interview date! Heard Bangkok was scheduling interviews fast right now, sometimes like 2 weeks from getting packet 3, so pretty sure I am going to stick with the K-3 even though it means more fees and paperwork once she is here. Maybe I won't have to travel 6000 miles to have Christmas with my wife after all.

Congrats on getting this far. We are at a similar stage.

I got word of the NOA2 by email notification from USCIS on October 14.

Since I was in Thailand, a few days after that I did the DHL tracking suggested in VJ

and discovered it had left the NVC on Oct. 16 and arrived at BKK on Oct. 20.

Still with no NVC case number (neither the NVC nor the BKK consulate responded

to attempts to contact them), packet3 was received (with BOTH of us witnessing

the arrival of the mailman bringing the good news) by her in BKK on October 31,

    my last day in Thailand.

Waste no time for the police report & medical; they weren't as bad as either of us thought,

but she was glad I was there for both of them.

QUESTION - I think your profile indicates K-1 but your post above indicates K-3 - which is it?

Your inquiring VJ friends want to know.

  4. Our K-3 application is finally at the Embassy in Bangkok and I am a little worried about the medical check which right now is scheduled next week, my wife was pregnant with twins and lost them about a month ago and has had a really rough time dealing with it and it is at the point she was prescribed a lot of medicine to deal with the depression. I have been back to see her since and head back tomorrow so we can spend time together and get her medication figured out, going to stay as long as it takes to make sure she is doing better and all of our packet 3 info is ready. Should I stress out that she might not pass the medical? Not worried about any other part of the process, have been there 9 times for a total of 24 weeks this year already just this year and have plenty of income, pics, call logs, etc, and everything else. Anyone know if they have set criteria for mental health when they do the medical or if she is doing ok and in active treatment ant I have it set up for it to continue when she gets here are we probably ok? She is covered under my insurance which has very good coverage and have enough to pay directly for anything else that she will need to recover.

Just need something to worry myself sick about since I don't have USCIS to deal with anymore! Till her AOS at least, we will cross that bridge when we get there.

  6. Anyone got tips on how to print out our call history from Skype? We both have good high speed internet so have been using that a lot more than chat since you can actually see each other, it saves the history but was wondering if there is a better way than just printing screen shots showing how much we talk. Hopefully we will start to see some approvals soon, the USCIS black hole has been the longest 2 and a half months of my life. Get to head back and see her July 5th for 2 weeks!

    Hey there!

Sorry I couldn't reply to your note earlier because i wasn't on the internet for a week or so.

But on SKYPE is a forum and you can download chat history from Skype!

I did it but i just can't remember it anymore how I did.

Let me think... How i got there...

I think through visa journey, there was a question about skype history

    or i did use google?

But when you type history or something like that at the skype website you will find a link on that skype forum how to get this!

    And it works pretty fast!

Sorry i can't help you better, but there is a way!

    Good luck!

We have been doing video chats, it actually saves a history of the call time, date, duration, etc on your computer but I can't find a good way to print them out where it is not just screen shots of Skype with the history displayed. Figured that is better than nothing but just wanted to know if I was missing an export feature for them or something

good for you to meet with you wife again! i am cancelling my trip that was scheduled tomorrow because of real estate transactions, swine flu and being not knowing of when USCIS approves or REFs our case.

i don't think i can rely on the online case status, i don't see ANY update/touch since USCIS initially received my case, i rush home everyday after work in hopping to see something in the mail, i wish i would never deal with USCIS again in my life!!!

Happy 4th everyone! NOA2 will come, hope it comes SOOOOOOOOOON :star::thumbs:

Sorry to hear about having to cancel your trip, I probably should not be going back so soon with as busy as work is but already been away from her longer than I ever had been since we met. I am thinking the same thing about the USCIS online system, not a single touch since mine was received. I got bad enough that I check the mail at lunch, was REALLY hoping to have it before this trip so I could give her some good news. Got the rest of the stuff together that my lawyer wanted me to bring for the next part of the process at least, does anyone know if it is ok for her police reports, medical, etc to be dated before USCIS?

  9. Hopefully you don't mind one more member, been a little tardy at posting with as busy as work has been. My NOA1 date for my I130 for the CR1 is April 6th and NOA1 for my I-129F for the K3. When I log into the site to check my status it says received my CR1 on April 14th and K3 on May 5th, so a little confused why dates are different from my hard copies. Hopefully we will start to see some April approvals soon, but only about 3 weeks until I get to go visit Aungkana for a week or so.
