  1. Hi everyone!

I will send out the papers for AOS this week.

For Christmas I want to visit my family in Germany, but I don't know when I will fly out (maybe I will have my Green Card until than, so I don't even need a travel document.

So I guess it would not make sense to fill out I-131 and send it in with the AOS papers. If I apply later for I-131, how long does it take until I get a travel document? how much does it costs?

    thanks for your help.

  2. Hi guys!

I just found a mistake on my marriage license. Personally I don't think it will effect my AOS case. Just want to ask what you think.

The first name of my wife's dad is "Czeslaw" (this his name when he was born - he is from Poland). He is a U.S. citizen and uses a modified first name since years in the States "Czester" (he never legally changed it, he just uses it and also signs with this name). So just the last 3 letters are different. On the marriage license they ask for the 'Full birth name' so we obviously put the wrong first name down.

On the AOS papers (I-864A) we wrote down his real birth name "Czeslaw".

I wanted to send out the papers for AOS out today, but then I saw the little mistake.

You think it is OK to send the marriage license with this mistake? I really doupt that they will even realize it.

Or should I go and correct the marriage license and get another certified copy? This would take again two weeks, therefore I just want to send out the current one.

    thanks for your advice

  3. Hi everyone!

I got my passport style pictures taking for I-485 and I-765 today (four in total).

They have to be 2” x 2”. The place were I took the photos recommended me not cut them (two pictures are on a big sheet of photo paper and you can see the shape of the picture> the place where to cut them into the right dimensions). They said USCIC will do it. Is this true? I almost don’t believe that, I think I will just cut them to the right size.

    What do you guys think?

  4. This is the Change of Address page: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa I had no issue changing my information even though my case isn't pending

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to General Immigration Related Discussion as this isn't an AOS question specifically, more a general Immigration question**

thanks for the information. this one works perfect.

one more question. If I fill out all information and click on signature, the form does not go to the next step. Instead it goes to the field:

"If the address is temporary, I expect to remain there:

    Years.....

    Months...."

I just moved into the new place with my wife and their parents and don't plan to move again any time soon. What should I type in? I can't leave it blank, cause it will not allow to bring me to the next step.

Also for the question "Last entry to the U.S. - If not a Permanent Resident, my stay in the US expires on (month/day/year)"

Should I write my the date on my I-94 (3 months after my entry to the U.S.) - I guess this is the right one, just want to double check.

    thanks for the help.

  5. hi guys!

    I have a short question.

I came to the U.S. with a K1 visa three weeks ago. Me, my wife and their parents moved to another place.

I didn't send out the papers for AOS yet.

I know that I have to fill out the AR-11 form and I wanted to do it online.

On the online form they ask if you have a pending case with USCIS. As I said, I didn't send out the papers for AOS.

One of the first questions they ask is:

    "Is your case still pending?"

    Possible answers are:

    "Yes, my case is pending

No, my case is not pending"

I would pick out "No, my case is not pending" but if I do it, it does not allow me do write down any information about my adress change.

If I pick out "Yes, my case is pending". They ask me to give the following information:

    - Receipt Number (13 digits) is required for some forms

    - Form Number

I don't think I have a receipt number, since I didn't send in my AOS papers yet.

What 'form number' do I have to choose?

Should I just fill out the AR-11 form (Aliens change of address card) and send it in, cause they don't ask these questions on the pdf file.

    thanks for your help

  6. Hi everyone!

I am filling out my papers for adjustment of status right now. On almost every form (I-485, G-325A etc.) they are asking for my alien registration number.

I heard that it is the number on my NOA2 (I-797C, Notice of Action).

The number starts with a zero than 8 other digit numbers are following: A 0XX-XXX-XXX (nine digit number).

Now I realized that my visa has exactly the same number, but the zero in the front is missing: A XX-XXX-XXX (eight digit number).

On the I-693 document, which is already sealed by a civil surgeon, I wrote down the nine digit number.

Should I just write this number down on all other documents?

Should I attach a notice saying that the number in the NOA2 and on my visa differs from each other?

    thanks for the help

  7. Hi guys!

I came to the U.S. one month ago. Since then my address has changed. I moved with my wife and her parents to another place. I just got married and I want to send in the papers for AOS right now. I never filled out I-864 before (for my K1 Visa I needed to send in I-134 as Affidavit of support). Therefore my wife (sponsor) and my wifes dad (joint sponsor) will not have to fill out I-865 since the new address will be on I-864.

The instructions of I-864 state that: “You should complete and submit Form I-865 to USCIS only when the address you indicated in the original I-864 Affidavit of Support has changed. This requirement does not relieve a sponsor who is a lawful permanent resident from submitting Form AR-11 within ten days of a change of address.”

Does this mean that all of us (me, my wife and her dad) have to fill out AR-11 or does my wife and my wifes dad just have to fill it out when they move after we send out I-864?

    thanks for the help

  8. Hi guys!

I came to the U.S. with a K1 visa. I didn’t fill out the papers for AOS yet. My fiancée, me and her parents moved so our address is not the same any more. What do I have to do now?

I want to write down our new address for all necessary AOS papers including I-864. Therefore I will not need to send in I-865 (sponsors notice of change of address).

Do I just have to fill out the AR-11 document?

My fiancée is my sponsor and her dad my co-sponsor. Do they also have to fill out the AR-11 document? Is it the same exact document, cause on the left corner it says : “Alien’s Change of Address Card”

Should I send out the AR-11 documents before or after I send in the papers for AOS?

    Thanks for the help

    Michael

  9. Hi!

    I came to the U.S. with a K1 visa.

I already got married and send out the papers for AOS.

I am living in L.A. and now I would like to fly to Hawai with my wife for some days.

I shouldn´t have any problems since it is US territory, right?

Just wanted to double chcek cause so many people are posting stories that they had to fill out some extra papers in order to travel while they are waiting for their Green Card.

    thanks for your help

  10. Medical has to be done before the interview, If you request a change of interview date expect a much longer wait for another open interview slot, consider 1-2 months from the date you are given. You should keep the date you unless you absolutly have to change it.

Does it really take that long until I get a interview date from the time I send out package 3 with the signed checklist?

I thought it would take less than one month. Does someone from Germany has already experience with the consulate in Frankfurt and knows how long it takes?

  11. Hi everyone!

One short question. I just send out my package 3 including the signed checklist. So I am waiting for my interview date.

I just wanted to know how long does it take to get a interview in Germany from now on.

2 weeks, 4 weeks or even longer?

Do they send me a specific date or couple of dates I can choose from?

What happened if I am out of the country at this time (on vacation)? Can I write them a letter and change the interview date?

When do I have to take the medical exam, before the interview date or can I take it even after that?

thanks and have a wonderful day!

  12. Hi guys!

I have some questions about the I-134 form. My fiancee's dad will be my co-sponsor, since we both still study and don't have our own income yet.

    Question 1:

Does my fiancee (who is the primary sponsor) has to fill out an I-134 form or just my fiancees dad (who is the co-sponsor)? My fiancee does not have any income.

    Question 2:

My fiancee's dad is self-employed and makes about $100.000 per year. Is it enough when he provides a copy of his last income tax return or are any other documents required? He has also savings in his account and owns property. Can I just fill in on form I-134 for Question 7 the annual income or do I have to provide all information? I think the annual income in my case would be enough, just want to double check.

    Question 3:

My fiancees dad got his U.S. citizen through naturalization. Is it enough if I write down his naturalization number on the I-134 form or do I have to provide any copies of specific documents like birth certificate and certificate of naturalization number?

    Question 4:

Can I leave Question 11 on the I-134 form empty or write "K/A". Question 11: "I intend or do not intend (I can mark on of it) to make specific contributions to support of the person(s) named in item 3."

    Question 5:

Are there any other important documents missing?

    thanks for the help

  13. hey guys!

I need help with Question 18 on the document DS-157.

"Have you made specific travel arrangements" - Yes/No

I want to visit my fiancee one more time before I get my K1 visa. I already booked the flight. Do I have to provide the information in this field? or is this question regarding the travel arrangement once I get my K1 visa?

    thanks

  14. Hello guys!

I just got a letter from the Consul of the United States, that they received an approved Fiance(e) petition for me and that they are ready to begin the process of my application.

I just have some questions about the following timings.

    www.usembassy.de gives the following instructions:

    Step1)

The next step would be that I send the following filled out papers to the U.S. Consulate in Frankfurt:

DS-230 form (just Part 1 or also Part 2?)

    DS-156 form,

    DS-156K form,

    DS-157 form

Are there any more documents, or are these all?

Do I just send out the DS-230 form or bring all other forms to the interview?

How long do I have time to send them out?

    Step 2)

After this I would have to collect all papers mentioned on the checklist and send a mail to the Immigrant Visa Unit after I have them all.

How long do I have time to collect all the papers and notify the Immigrant Visa Unit?

I do not send the papers out, I will have to bring them to the interview. Is this right?

I will be out of the country from middle of October until the beginning of November. I thing I will have all documents ready in the middle of November. I got the letter on September 1st. Is it to late, if I send them a mail in the middle of November? What are the deadlines for this?

    Thanks for your help

  16. hey everybody!

I was wondering what should I put on the G-325 form for the "A number" of my US fiance? Where do I find the number?

I am from Germany and I was studying in the US, after that I was taking part in the OPT program....so I got a Employment Authorization Card and I have a "A number".

Does anyone now if I can hope for a faster processing time because of that?

  17. hello every one. My fiance have finished all the paper work, and we are ready to send out the package. We want to put it in a 3 ring binder, but we didnt know if we were able to punch holes in the paper work and in the documents. we were considering using plastic paper protectors for each individual paper. Is this too much? Do you think we should put a whole section of paper work in one paper protector?

and i also have another question. Do we need to sign the bottom of every coppies of passport stamps, flight itineraries, pictures or just the forms? Thanks for all of your help.
