  1. Actually, I disagree! They do not put all Iranians in AP. When I had my interview couple of years ago, among the 3 Iranians who had interview almost the same time, I was the only one who went through it! It just depends on what mood the officer who interviews you is in! THAT'S ALL!

Don't worry! You'll be here before you know - My AP lasted 17 days. I went to USCIS website and had the cellphone notification activated, so when my AP was over, I got notified. They updated their website 2 days after though because it was weekend.

Enjoy your last days, have fun with friends and relatives... soon it will be a memory!

  2. Hi, I got all my vaccines in Iran. In Institute Pastor in Tehran - International Section (he definately knows it). There they asked me to which country I was immigrating - seems like different countries have different requirements. I said to USA and they knew what I needed. They gave me a yellow booklet, the same size of a passport. Name and date of each of the vaccines that I got were mentioned and officially stamped on that. When I came to USA, I went to a civil surgeon in Los Angeles and the first thing he asked to see was that yellow booket. The hospital that I went to in Abu Dhabi asked for that too. They all accept it. And yes it was much less expensive in Tehran. Tell him to go to either "Institue Pastor" or "Tehran University", if he lives in Tehran. If you have more questions, just send me an email.

  3. I moved from California to Montana for school. I almost had the same issue. The first time I went to homeland security for biometric I had my California driver's license. They looked at that and they asked if I live in Montana. I confirmed and I said, "but I have not changed my driver's license yet, because I have been so busy." - They were okay with that. The 2nd time, which was the interview time, I had a temporary card issued for me by Montana DMV. It had my picture printed on it. They were okay with that one. Probably you need to do that too.

  4. Hello VJ,

I just wanted to ask if any iranian VJ members know anything about Tara Khorrami? Should I hire her for my CR1 application?

Is it necessary to hire a lawyer?

My husband has gone for a student visa and a tourist visa a couple of times----so i wasnt sure if i should hire an attorney just in case

You do not need to hire anyone. Stay here in this forum, use sample forms & study similar cases.

  5. Royajoon, I'm talking to my family and friends there through yahoo messenger, skype & phone every single day with no problem. Tell him to try yahoo messenger again and then activate your archive and print your archive daily for the embassy. However, I had a BIG pile of our messenger prints and they didn't even look at them or ask for them at all during the interview... it was just a heavy load I carried with me.

  6. When I came here I had MMR (twice) and hepatitis (3 times) injected. They said chicken pox is not for adults - Here in the US I just had TB.

Regarding the price : different states are different - you may read some posts that people say they paid $30-40 but here in Los Angeles I called all the Civil Surgeons and their prices was different from $150-500 - I went to the one whose price was $150 although it was not so close to my home. The one that was close to my home said it would cost $350, yuck!

  7. Actually I wanted to tell you about it when we were writing about going to Iran that my mom and my sister keep telling me no to go home for the Persian New Year but I didn't tell you because I believe they are too much worried because several friends of mine are already gone there now and they are planning to come back after New Year holidays! They told me that they are having so much fun and they just stay away from riots and troubles, you know what I mean?!

As I remember your fiance lives in Shiraz! May be Shiraz is not having so many movements as Tehran. The best person who can tell you if it would be safe to go or not is your fiance! Ask him about Shiraz situation(and let me know also :P )
