  1. I filed though DCF 3 years ago and yesterday I passed my exam for the naturalization!!!

I am waiting for the letter for the date and time of the oath ceremony!

I wanted to thank eveybody here on this forum for helping during all this process!!! I could not have done without all of you guys!!!

thank you again and good luck for the others!!!

  2. You don't need to, but it's free and means you'll be told when things change in your case, so why not?

    thanks

You can also type in your receipt number at:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do;jsessionid=bacRGdOd3JIWI42VqhS2t

Then drive yourself nuts checking it every five minutes.

Found it best just to send in a personal check, check my account and print both sides of that check and file it as proof they received the application. Then carefully check my mail, in particular to open junk mail that stated "unOFFICIAL GOVERNMENT MAIL". Well, nothing from the USCIS today, maybe tomorrow. Most important thing was getting on with our lives. Not very many field offices update that above mentioned site or even use it. Our processing dates were like twelve months. Can't pay attention to that either.

When those letters to finally come, hmmm, how is the weather for that long trip to biometrics, when that interview letter comes it, time to gather all that original evidence and study for the civics test, check with your employer to make sure you can get that day off. Figure out what to wear, and learn how to sleep at night without concerns about that interview again.

    Thanks

  3. E-Notification: If you are filing your Form N-400 at one of the USCIS Lockbox facilities, you may elect to receive an e-mail and/or text message notifying you that your application has been accepted. You must complete Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance, and clip it to the first page of your application. To download a copy of Form G-1145, including the instructions, click on the link at the top of the page.

sorry I am gonna ask a stupid question: does that mean yes or no? I guess yes, but is it mandatory?

    thanks

  4. Its not a mistake most people apply based on 5 years - the form is geared for 5 year applicants. You just answer for 3 years only if you are applying based on the 3 year rule. Your cover letter would state you are applying for N400 based on 3 years of marriage to the US citizen. You only need to attach a sheet if you made too many trips to list on the available space.

Thank you very much for your quick answer

  5. I married an American and have lived almost 3 years in the US. Before moving to the US, we lived in Canada. I just received my 10 year green card and am applying for naturalization now.

I’m filling out form N-400 ‘Application for Naturalization’ and need help with question 7A & B (Time Outside the United States). They are asking how many days and how many trips I’ve taken outside the US in the past 5 years but I’ve only lived in the US for 3 years. It seems to be a mistake (they should have written "since you have been a lawful permanent resident" instead of " during the past 5 years") because I am answer B. in Part 2 of the N-400 form.

Can I fill out N/A and attach an extra page explaining it?

If I answer honestly that I’ve spent over 2 years outside the country they might accidentally throw out my application (because I was living in Canada before moving to the US). What’s the best way to answer in my case?

    Thank you in advance!

  6. CRI89 Petition to remove conditions of permanent resident status

    Form I-751

May 30 2012 - Vermont Processing Center received my I-751

July 2012 - Biometrics done (fingerprints and photographs)

I have a 1 yr green card extension expiring Aug 28 2013. Appears Vermont average processing time is 9 mths. Its now been 8 mths but don't have any more news.

Have others had similar experiences with Vermont?

What happens in July/August 2013 if I still don't have news? Can I get another 1 year green card extension?

  7. Hello everyone,

My husband and I have been living in the US since almost 2 years so it is time to file the removing conditions for myself.

I'm in the process of filing the removing conditions for myself.

Im looking at the instructions on the USCIS website about the form I-751, Petition to Remove the Conditions of Residence and I do not read anything about filing the form D-258.

But I read somewhere else that I need to file the form FD-258 finger print card.

Does it apply to my case? Do I need to file the form FD-258 as well?

    Thank you in advance!!!

  8. Hello,

I have recently obtained my green card papers from my DCF application in Canada. Now I am required to cross the border into the US to get the real green card and that is why I still have questions.

My husbands domicile is in one part of the US while we are looking for work in a different part. If we cross the border with our papers I am worried that they may not like this and cause us difficulties. We have a few options:

    1) Cross the border en route to my husbands domicile - this will be much more expensive considering the distances involved with then later going to future 'job' city

    2) Cross the border for a quick cheap day trip or weekend and then come back knowing that my green card papers have officially been filed.

    3) Cross the border en route to future 'job' city and possibly have lots of difficulties with border agents.

Does anyone have experience with this border crossing? Are they quite tough? Does anyone know of other people who crossed with a similar story?

    thank you very much

  9. Hello everyone,

I just got approved for a green card last week.

My husband and I would like to take our time to move to the US, in maybe 3 months...time to quit our job, find someone for our apt, look for a job in the US...

But they say that some employers might not hire me if I do not have a SSN.

    Then my question is:

Can I cross the US border with my passport and my package to make start the process to issue my SSN and the same day come back to Canada?

And I would get my SSN before we move to the US and have more chance to get a job from Canada.

And when we move I will have a job in the US.

    What do you think please?

    thank you

    P.

  10. Hello

I would like to know if there are any problems with my US husband coming with me to the interview? Will they directly ask him any questions? Will they ask him to leave the room for part of the interview?

Also, could people who have already done the interview give me some sample questions so I know what to expect? Can anyone give me advice on how to prepare for the interview - i.e. bring photos and other possible proof supporting our marriage?

    Thank you

    P.

  11. Hi Pucca,

    Congratulations!

We didn't DCF, however I do have a copy of some of the documents they send out.

Unless they have changed it, from last year, you aren't supposed to send in the documents with the checklist, the documents are to be presented at the interview. Historically you would only return the DS-230 parts 1 and 2 and the checklist.

    Did you receive different instructions?

    dcf_letter.jpg

I did not get the same paper as yours. It was not as clear as yours concerning the originals.

It was written on the checklist that I have sent with, and I can not chek again now to be sure.

I remember having read about sending both originals and a copy on forums, but mayba I did not really understand.

For me, they should give me back my originals at the interview.

I am still waiting for an answer of the US consulate in Montreal.

I am surprised it took 2 month and a half to get the date of the interview. :-)

    thank you

  12. Hello everyone,

I am doing my paper for immigration through DCF in Montreal.

good news! I got the letter with the date of the interview this week!!! :-) I am so happy!!!

The only thing is they ask for the originals and one copy of documents I already gave them in the second step (DS230 and I-864), like marriage certificate, birth certificate, affidavit of support... except my passport I gave them a copy.

I do not have the originals with me anymore

I believed they would give me back my originals at the interview.

I was thinking that they seem to send the same letter with the same content to everyone, that is why they ask me to bgrin the originals and one copy of them to the interview.

What could I do? they have all my originals already and a copy of them.

I wrote them an email yesterday to tell them I do not have the originals because they already have them. I am waiting for their answer.

    thank you a lot

    P:

  13. I know for my interview in Australia, they have all of my documents and only expect my passport and a photo to come with me on interview day. You should contact them if they have your originals as it would be impossible to take them with you!

    thank you for your answer.

did they tell you by mail or email thy only expect your passport and a photo to come with you on interview day?

because they did not tell me anything, its was written in the interview letter I would need to bring originals.

I do not understand if I sent them the originals, they should have with them at the consulate and keep them.

they do not send the orginals to the US somewhere?

they keep with them at the consulate (DCF)?

I emailed them yesterday, and I am waiting.
