  1. Hi,

we got married yesterday and we went to a Social Security office today to apply for the SS card, but the lady there told us that since my status has changed from K1 to K3 after the marriage, she can't start proceeding our case and that we first have to contact the Immigration Services. But as far as I know, my status hasn't changed and all I need to apply for a SS card is a I-94, my passport with the K1 visa and our marriage license (to show that I have a different family name now). So what should we do?

    Thank you in advance!

    Kate

to all: Danke allen, die mir geantwortet haben.

  3. Ive been told that you need to wait until you get your package 3 since you will need your case number. also the appointment shouldnt be too early. 2 weeks prior to the interview should be perfect. that will make the process faster (if you go to the doctor later they cant issue the visa until they got the information back from the doctor) just make sure you go to one of the 2 docs that are allowed to do it (Dr. Jürgen Thuneke and Dr. Michael Zimmer)

Yes, I will go to Dr. Jürgen Thuneke or Dr. Michael Zimmer.

Thank you! I hope there is nothing to worry about :)

Hi, Karin und Otto, thank you for your reply!

Well, it's written: "If the time for your doctor's oppointment states 00:00 please come to your immigrant visa interview first and upon completion of the interview we will send you to the doctor`s office". And that's my case. But since I have found a list of the panel physicians (and there is one in Hamburg as well) on the web-site of the American Embassy in Germany, I just thought it is still possible to do the medical prior to the interview.

It is possible - pretty much everyone from Germany I've heard from has done their medical in advance - it (the letter) must relate to folks who schedule their medical through Frankfurt (which you obviously did not/have no intention to).

So long as you have your NVC case number, you should be just fine doing your medical in Hamburg - check with the physician's office to be sure but am certain they will verify this.

    Thanks! :)

  4. This is news to me/us - we did our medical about 2 weeks prior to the interview (in Düsseldorf) - I believe it is possible to have the medical done in Frankfurt but never heard it was required. Perhaps you're misreading the letter?

  5. Hi dear all,

I will be having my interview for K1 visa soon. In the letter from the Consul it´s written: "please come to your immigrant visa interview first and upon completion of the interview we will send you to the doctor`s office". So I just wanted to ask, would it be ok, if I do my medical in Hamburg two weeks prior to the interview in Frankfurt? Had someone already done a medical in Hamburg?

Thank you and good luck! :)
