  1. Hi there guys, good to talk to you again.

I was wondering if anyone has any information on the backlog for the Juarez consoluate. Are packet was received Sept 5, 2006 and we are getting closer to an expected arrival of a new packet. However, we aren't sure if the backlog has been changed during our wait. Originally it was 6 months, then 6-9, followed by 9-11 month wait after the packet was recieved.

    many thanks!

  2. I heard that they can only do 10 CR1 appointments a day. If this is true do you know if the extra officers will add more slots to the CR1 process? Or will it be going to some other visa slots? I am not sure if anyone has any information on this. It would be cool if they were there to fullfill the demand for a specific visa... as long as it is the visa I am going for

  3. you are right.. and I am not sure how the money is divied up for the application fees. I was imagining that a portion is directed towards the consulate the applications will ultimatly go through. If that is the case then it would mean there is a huge amount of money already available.. since the backlog is 9+months.. that is a lot of application fees. Again, before I get flamed, I am stating that I don't know how the consulates are funded. An extra 1 million dollars a year could hire a lot of extra bodies. It isn't too costly even at a loaded rate.

  4. I flew into El Paso and took a taxi to the Holiday Inn (there are two next to the consulate) in Juarez. It cost 50$ for the ride and the driver almost killed us on the way there. The ride was relatively quick. The driver made a good profit.. so dont bother tipping him. When I do it again I will fly into Juarez, I think. My wife will be there too so it will be more convenient.

  5. It seems that Juarez is a bit backwards on how to run their consulate. Other countries seem to fly through the process at ludicrous speed when compared with CDJ. First you have to wait 9 months and then when you call them they tell you that you have to wait 4 more months. When you finish that waiting period you can call again and then you have to wait another 4 months. What is causing this huge delay?

My personal thoughts are that they are under staffed. There are too many applicants submitting for visas to give everyone a quick interview date.

Others have suggested that the USA is racist and doesn't want any more Mexicans in their country. To keep them out the government is intently increasing the waiting times to force Mexicans and their counterparts to give up trying.

If it is just that they are understaffed then they should hire more people. I have been to the CDJ consulate and it isn't very big. We were all packed in there like sardines. It also took almost the entire day to get the visa... but we got it (K1 visa). Adding more officers to interview couples wont help because there isn't really a lot of space to add them. Opening a new consulate would be better.

It is somewhat of a pain to see how bad that consulate has become.

    regards

  6. It wasn't about planning a family and the involvement of the DOS- it was about the "what ifs" ... even with proper care.. things happen. We have been doing this long distance relationship for 6 years now on and off (well, me there or here in USA) and just when we think we got another step closer there is another chunk of time added to the waiting. Sorry if we come off as fusterated and desperate.... but we are.

Anyway, it looks like we are locked into the CR1 then.

Thanks for everyone that has taken the time to read and reply

If anyone knows a secret shortcut feel free to message me

  7. I agree, this is completely idiotic. I am fusterated because I live alone right now and I don't do anything because I am waiting for my wife to come. I just work, come home, sleep, and repeat. I want to make a family with my wife but I can not. First we need to secure ourselves in our careers and then prepare accordingly. But we cant even do that until she arrives. I visit as often as I can- which is great for me but I don't feel it is enough. We have to take so much care that we don't get pregnant too.. I mean imagine that! I will have my first child before the process finishes! And then what happens? My child cant come because he doesn't have the right visa? Imagine that.. hopefully something like that wouldn't be an issue.. but who knows.. these people are making everything difficult... unbearable.

Sorry for venting. We are good people... but the stress that is involved in this process is underestimated by everyone not directly involved or in a similar situation.

    kinds regards,

  8. Which papers did you send on august 7?

We sent the DS230(Visa App). They already recieved the I864(Support). When I called they acknowleged that both packets were received and it will take 2-6weeks before they can review the packets to see if everything is valid or if we missed something. I am certain we have finished all the required paperwork for this portion of the process. I believe it will take at least one more week for them to review our papers.

  9. it say that "either the husband or wife must sign" (if a joint return was filed).. does that mean my wife doesnt need to sign (she is the beneficiary) if I sign.. I did a joint return. Normally I wouldnt ask these questions but I started thinking about it to the point where I doubt my initial answer.. anyway, I dont want to make mistakes.

    Cheers,

  10. This is for a K-3 but it may give you some insight http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Mexico&cty=Juarez

Have you checked out the US Consulate Ciudad Juarez website?

Thanks Aussie...I have checked out their website and have wrote to them a couple times but they always seem to give you the same answer. Your application is awaiting an interview date which will approximately be 9-11 months from Jan 2006. :(

hmmm... I am a bit confused about the interview date. You haven't reveived your date yet but once you receive it then it will be 7-9 months until the actual interview date? Or it is just taking them 7-9 months to issue the interview wich could happen the following week?

  11. I usually just got to CVS (Eckerds, Walgreens, etc) or the USPS office and get mine. CVS takes about 10mins and I walk out with my passport photos in hand. Never had a problem with it. There must be some place in Columbia that is similar... or are you guys trying to save a couple bucks? My wife and I ususally fedex the stuff next day delivery. This visa process cost some money.. but not so much.. just splurge and get top of the line service with what ever you do.. in the end it is worth it and saves some time and fusteration.

  12. I don't know but I would really like to. I hope that someone has some experience and can lend it to the forums. I did the K1 with my wife and there was NO appointment. We just went, paid the fees at the specified bank and next day did the medical and next day did the interview to get the visa. It would be nice if the K3 or CR1 were the same but I hear that they issue your interview date 9 to 11 months after the point they recieve your application/package.

That is a bit of a heart breaker.

  13. Hello guys, I had a quick question:

I called the NVC number and it says ""please allow 6-8 weeks for beneficiary to receive notice"" .. is that the notice for my wife to pick the agent they want or am I confusing it with something else?

I have all the time saver stuff prepared the best they can be at this point and that is the route we will take. There are a few documents that are showing up corrupt for me there on the time saver thread but I hope they are fixed soon.

    Thanks for the quick info!

  14. I dont exactly live across the boarder. I am a busy professional with a real job. I don't live in a trailer and I dont have the luxury of making my own schdule. Every time I go to Mexio I spend at least 1k$.. not much compaired to other people but I DO go to Mexico a lot and it adds up. I only get 3weeks vacation a year so I have to spend it wisely. I am going there June 23 for her sister's graduation. The consulate can choke on my plane tickets and phone bills.

    Sorry for my outburst. ^_^

To be fair, the K-1 process wasn't too bad and the interview was great.. we got the coolest guy there. He was the one that talks like a game show host. "Mr/Mrs. X Come on Doooooooooowwwwwwwwnnnn!!!!!!!" And he was funny.

    Cheers...

Going to start on the K3. Just trying to get the latest 129f form.

... it is almost easier if I just move to Mexico. One of the illegals can have my job..

    cheers

*goes off grumpy to sit in corner*

  15. Yes, I did a K-1 and got married with my wife here in USA. A family member got sick and we flew to mexico the same day without filing the correct papers to leave.. anyway.. now we have to do the K-3 process and me and my wife feel like we are being punished for a family emergency.

As soon as the new 129f comes out I will start that process.. I can't believe all the ####### that good people have to go through while the illegal immigrants get to come here and party, cause problems, and mooch off of everyone.

  16. Hello, my wife and I are struggling to make it through the seperation but we are holding together. Anyway, she pointed out this link to me and it says the CR-1 time for mexico is about 678 days! Did someone really have a bad time or what? When we did the K-1Visa the entire process was pretty quick even when our package got lost in the mail and there was no interview date.. we could just arrive get interviewed and processed.

I am silly. I didn't start the 129F. I didn't read the discriptions good when I was reviewing the process. I just locked on to the I-130/CR-1 guide and that was that. If I submit an I-129F now will it help or am I basically now so far behind that it wont prove any advantage in the long run?

Thanks for the tips guys! I have been reading and paying attention a lot more after that goofy mistake.

    Cheers
