Hi guys! So it sounds like there are no required classes or courses to take, contrary to what i have been hearing from friends...is that correct? ..also, are you allowed to miss any of the 10 questions, or do you have to answer all 10 correctly??Thanks for the help!

Anybody try to renew their drivers license in CA with the NOA? We were told that they couldn't do it. I need some tips/advice. Thanks!
my wife's license expired the same day as her green card..she received an extension notice in the mail before that asking to submit proof of legal presence to recieve her extension. We returned that with a copy of her NOA, but the DMV stated that her NOA is not valid until her green card expires...therefore they were unable to process her DL extension until everything had expired! Fortunately, we were able to get them to issue a temporary license in the meantime, until she received her new DL. All of this is done by calling the Legal Presence division of the DMV in Sacramento, since the local DMV was useless. Here is the # for you to call:

We had to call a few different times to get it all sorted out. Hope that helps!

This question is re: our government issued IDs = State Ids and the kind.
Mine expires as the day my GC expires 11.22.12.
So,does this mean a number of problems from 11.23.12 till whichever day I will get my new GC - which I think would be Jan 2013?!?
I am thinking if I should get my IDs renewed using the NOA after 11.23.12 - what are your ideas?
Any other people who are thinking like I am, or I am just 'over-thinking' it....sigh...

my wife received a letter from the DMV regarding extending her drivers license. It instructed us to return a photocopy of her residence extension letter, so we sent in a copy of her NOA1. ..it seems to be going just as 'smoothly' (slowly!) as the first time she applied for her license. Back then her paperwork was stuck in the state capitol while they tried to verify her immigration status. Once we realized this and called the state DMV immigration department, they then had us fax them the same proof we had already submitted when applying (green card). ... ...we just now did the same thing again and faxed them her NOA1 letter, and are now waiting for her temporary drivers license extension. They advised that they cannot send her another one until her first one expires, so in the meantime they will send her a temporary license. (something like that) ...gotta love California! lol

Its just a 3 page form and xerox copy of your conditional permanent resident card isn't it? Am i missing something here ??

yes..use your case# from your BIO appt letter..it is different from the case# on your NOA1 letter

Decided to take half of the day off yesterday to go with my wife to her biometrics appointment. Her schedule was at 2pm and we got there 10 mins early.
To my surprise, out of the 50 seats in the room, 49 were empty!!! -- so needless to say, it was quick and easy... we were in and out in 15 minutes.
I'm pretty sure they would gladly take walk-ins there -- Pomona ASC
Thanks for the info! That is the same location where we will have our bio on the 31st! (..also the same one we had our previous bio appt a couple years ago. I think it was pretty empty back then too)
We would do ours early, but I am concerned that it would actually mess things up and prolong the process (possibly by not having our paperwork/info there and ready when we get there, something geting lost, mixed-up, ...etc.)

You want to vote him out because he didn't put his bio date on the side?? Really????? Did I miss something?
..yeah, it looks like you did miss something. The housekeeper who has been updating the list asked Flyer (more than once, I believe) to post his stats the same as everyone else (with the original bio date). Flyer keeps changing the list back to his way, stating "..I find it mildly disrespectful when you elect to change my date/time stamps. Please respect my revision and leave it as is."

I vote to remove Flyer92 from the list, since he refuses to put his original appt. date like everyone else did. The standard is to notate the adjusted bio date to the side... he is messing up the stats.
...and Tommy2012, you need to go to your settings and find the box to turn on 'Rich Text Editor' so we can all read your post

I have a few questions for you guys as I prepare to send out out i751 packet next friday.
Cover letter ??
1) On the cover letter did you put your address?
2) At the bottom did you both sign and put your A number as well.
3) did you put how many pages there were for each evidence
For Evidence How many pictures did you include??
and what did you use to send your package?
1) yes, at the top
2) yes, we both signed but her A# was at the top with our address and contact info
3) yes, whenever there was more than 1 page
4) we included about 13 photos
5) we sent it priority US mail, and used one of their free mailing boxes (the hard one I believe, not the soft pack...If I remember correctly)

I really hope it's not required to send an affidavit. When I read the instructions, I took it to be an optional thing. We could ask his family (there's only his mum and dad though) but aside from that, we actually don't have many friends here. I have one friend that lives in New York, but I feel awfully uncomfortable about asking her for an affidavit since it would require she get it notarized. I know she'd probably be fine with it if I asked her to - but still makes me feel uncomfortable, so I'd prefer not to if possible. I guess I just don't want to ask her for fear of inconveniencing her - she's very busy with looking after her mother, who's been quite sick. We've never needed an affidavit before, so I'm hoping this time will be the same.
I do not believe that it is required to have the affidavits notarized at this stage. None of ours were notarized

...we both signed our cover letter too... and as for tracking your case on USCIS.gov, you will have to wait for the receipt number from your bio appt. letter (you cannot track it with your NOA1 receipt#) ... and as for affidavits, we included as many as possible (six, I believe) from family and friends

Yeah the NOA1 recept number doesn't work for us either...I guess you need the application # found at the top of the Bio appointment notice.

Received our NOA1 in the mail today dated 7/30/12, stating 1 year extension of travel and employment! Not bad considering it hasn't even been a week since we mailed it in!

We finally got ours sent out to the CSC on 7/27/12 via priority mail with delivery confirmation, delivered 7/28/12 11:18 am. Anxious to receive our NOA1 now!

I JUST got my I-512L,Authorization for Parole of an Alien Into the United States - my AP Travel document. NOWHERE on it does it say I need to complete biometrics before travel. Isn't the whole point of the AP so that the applicant CAN travel while their case is pending? DUH?!
The document is good for 1 year, there are 2 copies, my photo is on it to the left and there is a spot for the "Parole stamp" on the right. All it says is that "Parole is not admission into the United States" - that CPB at POE is allowed to inspect you and decide if you are allowed in so that you can resume your application...
"Parole into the United States is not guaranteed" - basically I am still open to inspection and can be denied at POE and there is a "travel Warning Regarding Unlawful Presence" and "Inadmissibility in general" THERE IS NO MENTION OF BIOMETRICS
I am gonna do more research, speak with an IO, etc... but I am gonna book a flight home...
I do wonder tho... the document bears my hyphenated married name and my Canadian passport reflects my maiden name. Do you think this is ok? Obviously it's me. If I carry my marriage certificate which shows the name change, do y'all think that will suffice? Or do I now need to go to the Canadian consulate in Texas to order a new passport with a name change? Ohhhhhh more bureaucracy!
I would definately take the marriage certificate with me if I was in your place, and wait until after I get my green card to change my passport.
