  5. Hey all, not posted here before but I have been lurking =)

I'm just in the process now of gathering all the things I need to send back to the embassy and filling out the various D-xxx forms, and am planning on booking my medical sometime tomorrow.

I have a couple of questions with regards to all this...

    1) On the IV-15 it asks for a flight and wedding date, now I've got a vague timeframe in mind for when I would probably be flying to the US but I certainly don't have specific dates yet, is that essential information? Or can I simply write down my estimates? (IE. June 2010)?

    2) Once I am ready to send packet 3 off, Who do I address the letter too?

    and finally... =)

    3) I've seen some people say that I need to send off just the IV-15 and Checklist for packet 3, and others say that I need to include all the D-xxx forms as well, which do I need to do?

I'd really appreciate any help at all.

    Thanks in advance, Tom. =)

can others please comment on this as well?? we've heard the same thing as far as only sending in IV15 and checklist... what is required??

  6. can anyone tell me definitively if simon will need his vaccination records at the medical?? he just got a bunch done as he had no records, but he needs a second round of MMR in a few weeks before his GP will release his records... seriously, they refuse to release his records. so if he has the medical before then, can he be approved pending those records? we can forward them along to knightbridge when we get them? i think i read somewhere that he's not required to even have the jabs done at all at London... help!

  7. Hello all

Im wondering if anyone can tell me, on form DS-156, question 36: "Has anyone ever filed an Immigration Visa Petition on Your Behalf" what do i put? Im assuming it is yes and do i need to put anymore than my fiance's name?

    Thanks

Check out the example forms section at the top of the page here. The example forms say check no. Actually, your fiance has petitioned for a NON-immigrant visa for you.

There is one glaring difference between London and the example forms on this site. The I134 for London, they want to see "DO INTEND" to make specific contributions checked - unlike the example form which is do not.

Sorry if i sounded grumpy! I am going to take your advice, you have the visa in hand, i dont!

So if he ticks the intend box what sort of thing do we need to write, how long does he have to give money to me for and if he puts it is for room/board and living expenses while i am unable to work is that ok?

I am the USC, and for my fiance (also "visa in hand"), I wrote, "Any funds necessary for the duration of his stay".

    :) It will be fine.

gah.. i did what the example form said to do... it's already sent! i'll be ok, won't i??

  8. can anyone give me any advice on finding vaccination records in the UK?? my fiance has asked his GP who says they have nothing, he thought about phoning his old school district, etc.. he has had the normal required vaccinations, he just cannot figure out how to get the records.. and IF he cannot get the records, does he HAVE to get all the jabs at the medical interview? or can he get them when he gets here in the states? or at his GP? if we can avoid having him do all the jabs over again, that would be great! any advice?

  9. Please help! is there a way to find out if the embassy has received our packet other than calling the Extortion line?? it got sent to London from NVC on Sep 25th and since then... nothing.

also, if we don't know exact date of POE and wedding, can we estimate?? the timing on all this stuff is so tricky!

  10. :o

i don't know if i've ever been so excited in my life! :)

  11. My friend entered the US on a K-1 to get married - the relation soured. He saw his old girlfriend who now lives in the states. They used to date back in his country. They are now talking about getting married before his I-94 expires (90 days) and he needs to leave the US. I told him that on the K-1 he needs to marry the person who petioned for him or leave within 90 days. He said that his old girlf friend spoke to a lawyer and that it could be done if they can prove it is a bonafied relationship. I told him I don't think it is possible. Any help would be appreciated. Also I was looking for other treads on this topic but didn't locate any.

Don't you think that he already knew this other woman was in the US? Within less than 3 months the relationship soured and within 3 months he is prepared to marry this other woman? Sounds like it was visa fraud to me, sorry.

Sorry this didn't work out the way it was supposed to for you and it is always nice when a person doesn't want to see another person flouner. But sometimes you have to let people learn on their own let them fall hard so that the lesson will stick with them forever. It's time to stop putting this person's wellbeing first. Let him fall and use this energy your wasting on him to do something positive for someone who really deserves it and who will recognize your kind spirit for just that.

  12. i know they can get nit-picky about the first packet, and i'm just finishing up putting it together and want to get EVERYTHING right so i don't get any RFEs.. since i've been putting the packet together for a few weeks off and on, some forms (letter of intent etc) have different dates on them (all between april 15 and present)... do i need to print everything out again with all the same dates before i sign and send? i don't have a printer at home, so trying to save a trip to kinko's since i just had knee surgery

i'm sure i'll have more questions. this process is crazy!

  13. my fiance's parents have not been a part of his life since he was young and he does not know exact birth dates and locations.. can he simply put "not known" for the whole thing? or should he guess the year and put the country (they were definitely born in the UK). he's still working on getting his birth certificate, so that might have more info, but just wondering if it's even necessary. thanks for your help! :)

You will notice the form asks for parents information "if known". Enter "unknown". We did this for my wife's father...no problem. It is necessary to enter something, do not leave this blank.

It seems strange by US standards, but in many areas of the world, especially those devastated by WW2 (or other wars) and/or political upheaval such as the FSU, these records are simply gone, lost, unavailable and birth certificates in other countries do not always give details of the child's parents, other than names. Hence the "if known" clause on the form.

yeah.. i figured i could put not known, just being ultra paranoid  his father is deceased and he has no contact with mother so no way to verify.. i might do some internet research, tho

oh and thanks everyone for your replies!

  15. he doesn't need these documents until the interview - its good to start preparing :) but you can send your petition off without them

    thank you! :)

also, to nik+heather: my fiance only went to the solicitor to Get the copies of the documents, not to ask him questions. this info was offered up unsolicited (heh) .. i had already done lots of research, so it sounded very odd and unnecessary to me, that's why i came here to ask. and yes, i am aware of the total cost of this process and that is exactly why i don't want to spend ANY fees that are not required. i will obviously do more research before the interview to make sure it's all in order.. thanks for your input.

  16. hi, i'm new here.. (great site, btw!!)... we're getting ready to send the I-129F packet out.. i knew it was just a matter of time until i had to post a question

my fiance changed his name when he was a teenager. i know he needs his birth certificate and the documentation of his name change, but for some reason his solicitor (who did the name change) is telling him that he needs to take the two documents and have them specially 'notarized' to 'link' them together and make them acceptable for the US government.. and that said procedure would cost him 80 quid ! ? i told him, as far as i could find by reading this site and others for hours, is that he just needs Photocopies of the two documents and that they do not need to be notarized in any way. could anyone verify this for me?

thanks so much for any help!

who is the USC and who is the UKC?

The UKC doesn't need to send a birth certificate when submitting the I-129 that is needed for the interview along with the name change document, if he is the USC you may want to ask this question in the general K1 forums.

KirstenUk just had an issue with a document from a solicitor not being notarized holding up issuance of her daughter's visa so it is possible that this may be an issue. It won't hold up sending off your petition if he is the UKC though and you can then consider whether or not to get it notarized in advance or wait and see if they ask for it closer to the interview.

I'm the USC, he's the UKC, but since they ask on the G325a about 'other names used', i was just trying to be proactive... i'm paranoid
