Congrats!!!!. My wife has been in Las Vegas for 5 weeks now. she has not gotten green card yet but got welcome letter, and looked up case status and green card was set to be printed on june 15. Is your lady flying PAL?

  2. Greetings!

Anyone here using LUCKY MONEY money remittance to send funds to Philippines?? I have been sending money with XOOM but I find their rates were not that appealing anymore and so I searched another online remittance service and stumbled with LUCKY MONEY website while surfing and it has a good rating with BBB. I signed up for an account and made a transfer to my sister's bank account in PH but then this morning I received e-mail from LM that they want me to send them my ID, Utility bill and front and back copy of my debit card. Is this normal? XOOM did not asked me for any ID before so I am just cautious if LUCKY MONEY is a reliable company.

Thank you very much for any feedbacks. :)

I used Lukcy money for a long time while my wife was in the Philippines. But now I do it through my bank, Wells Fargo. They take the money right out of my checking account and the family can go to BPI(Bank of Philippine Islands)to pick up. The services for sending lucky money was 13 dollars for province and 10 for Manila. She got the money in about 12 hours after sending. I have no complaints from lucky money, but it is much more convienent to use the bank, instead of driving to the other side of town every time.I used the online service for lucky money and I did not like it, so I just went to the local branch instead. But wells fargo only charges 5 dollars if you have account.

  3. Hello,

My wife flew over to the United States on May 22, 2010. She got her social security card after 10 days, but has not yet recieved the green card, or permanant resident card. I called USCIS and the person I spoke with had no clue on what I was talking about. They kept asking me if we file a i-485, but according to everything I read, on a IR1 visa, she should be sent her 10 yr green card after being admitted at the POE. For the people who recently came here, how long did it take for the green card?

  4. What a process!! I can't thank all of you enough for your help and support! It's the hardest thing a lot of us will have to do with all the ups and downs, months of waiting and worrying about the outcome. We had it easier than a lot of you will or did and I'm greatfull. For those of you who are still in the middle of it all or about to start, just hang in there...it'll come :)

Her flight was really good and the Detroit POE was really easy and stress free. It was extremely busy so the wait was pretty long but it was good other than that.

So thanks again everyone and we'll be here to cheer you on and help if we can :)

Congrats!!!!!:dance::star: My wife is adjusting ok, been 3 weeks as of today.

  5. Hi,

Well tomorrow I will be going back to work, and the wife will be stayin at the family's house so she is not bored at the apartment all by herself. She is adjusting ok, does get sleepy in late after noon, early evening. We drove to California and stayed for a few days. She arrived in Las Vegas and it was 65 degrees, now it is near 100, and 107 by Sunday. I told her to enjoy it while the cool weather is here.

  6. I JUST WANT TO SAY MY BABY PASSED HIS INTERVIEW!!!!!!!! Tnx you to all of you who have helped me and fiance through this journey. I only found out he passed because he had to go back to the hotel because he forgot to bring money to pay for the visa. He texted me to call ASAP and when I spoke to him OMG that joy and sounds of his voice I just knew he passed. Thank you God and to everyone on this site!!!!!! Another PINK SLIP from the Embassy in Manila :)

    Congrats!!!! :dance::dance::dance:

  7. Hey everyone!

Typically what do people do for health and auto insurance once your spouse gets to the USA?

health insurance is definitely going to want to see their previous health insurance statements before they will give you insurance, no? or does the medical exam for the visa get used instead as a record of good health??

how about auto insurance? i cannot even get a quote without entering a name on the websites. won't the insurance be too high because they don't have a USA record??

    what will most people do?

I have added my wife to the auto insurance as a insured person, but listed as non driver. For the health ins..I just called today but they need her ssn, but she just arrived on Sat, so we wont have the ssn for a few weeks.

  8. Welcome to the USA to your wife & congratulations to both of you for finally being together! I remember the feelings when I stepped foot here in the Sin City almost 5 years ago. There was the feeling of happiness and relief :)after that couple years of being in a long distance relationship with my then fiance, now husband and the pretty exhausting visa journey. Goodluck and God bless you both! Which part of Vegas do you guys live? I am from the Northwest part.

We live in the central part of town, just one mile from her relatives house, so she will not feel too homesick. She is doing ok adjusting to the time, but sleeps till 1030am-11am. PM me and maybe we can meet up so my wife can meet some filipino friends since she will most likely be out of work for a while because of the high rate of unemployment.

  9. Hello to all,

I am writng to let everyone one know my journey is complete. My wife made it here last night. The plane was an hour late from manila but made it to Las Vegas safely. She was one of the last ones out, so we had to wait over 30 minutes to them to get out of customers. But at last she is here.Good luck with everyone still going through the journey.:dance:

  10.

:P:P I went here in Manila last May 11 to witness my fiancee's interview today, May 14th Fri 7am. We passed!!! We were there around 530am, got it 6am, prescreener @730am, finger scanning @ 8am and interview @ 815am..... PASSED!!

Thanks for everyone who help us here... Without VJ, it would be hard for us to proceed and to go to this process - APPROVED, with no hassles... AGAIN, THANKS!!!!:):)

    congrats :dance::dance::dance:

  11. Yeah I can never figure that out, they run you thru the x-ray when you get out of the plane in Japan, whats wrong with them ? do they actually thing that you have somehow acquired a gun or bomb in the plane ?

Yeah, that does not make sense to me either. At least when my wife goes on PAL, she will get off the plane and remain in the gate area that is secured till reboarding time, and all passengers from manila going to las vegas are required to board first.

  12. Congratulations!!! When did you get interview? When did you get the visa? Delivered or pick up?

She had the interview April 12, and was on AP for two weeks before getting approved. The visa was in hand on the 30th of April, was deleivered by air21.

  13. I put a DP on Roses tickets the total cost is $770, its on PAL, straight from MNL to (somewhere in Canada where she will get off the plane for refueling then hop back in then to) Las Vegas where I will be picking her up, then straight to Ceasars Palace for a couple of nights before I take her home.

My wife will be flying PAL this Saturday, pr106. It stops in Vancouver for an hour then continues onto Las Vegas.

  14. Well, Mhay will be on her way to alaska in about 12 hours or a little less. The next day and a half will seem to take forever! I wont drive down to anchorage until tomorrow afternoon. She doesnt arrive until early sunday morning :( Oh well, I know the wait will be well worth it! At least the hotel will have dark curtains since she will be getting here about the same time the sun will be coming up and wont set for about 17 hours or more. A big change for her.

Congrats!! Another big change will be in the winter time. Since the Philippines is a tropical environment, I doubt she has ever seen temps below 50F, let alone sub zero temps that Alaska gets.

  15. The CBP officer silently stamped our documents, smiled, and then said "Have a nice day!"

Stunned, we then walked out at which point the next CBP officer in security waved us past the 1+ hour line of folks waiting to pass through the x-ray machines, allowing us to catch an earlier flight home.

Finished before it even started. Not sure if having nothing whatsoever said to you is commonplace, but we're still laughing at our overly-paranoid approach to this entire visa process. The only question we've had to answer was a casual inquiry by the CO in Manila asking where we planned on living.

So much for all of the rehearsals...

Maybe we just caught CBP after a big meal when they were sleepy and ambivalent --

I'll tell you what, I haven't been in the States for 1.5 years -- and it's really good to be back.

Good luck to everyone that is still playing the waiting game. Our thoughts are with you.

Welcome back, my wife will be using vegas as a POE in two weeks

  16. Only for that day.

My wife just did the cfo yesterday, but she leaves the 22nd, I asked why so early and she says the elections will cause delays and backups to the cfo so she did it early.

  17. I would give it a few more days. The standard processing is 7-10 business days excluding holidays. It seems that the embassy has been giving out a lot of approvals lately, so it might be busy printing out the visas  I was going to buy the ticket for 3 weeks after the interview to allow for visa delivery but got put on AP for 2 weeks, so it just worked out that wife had visa on hand before I bought plan ticket.

  18. we got approved my 3 kids and me) in april 27 and visa hasnt been sent yet..does anyone here have the same concerns ?

i live in pasay manila and im just wondering why the visas arent delivered yet.or at least i should get a txt msg from air 21..i tried racking our numbers online but nada :( im just worried cos e booked our flight on may 9th ..so is anyone here waiting for the visas? and had their interview the same day i did?

I would give it a few more days, and try to track on their website by using the case number as ther tracking number, The embassy has been giving out a lot of approvals lately, so it might take a few days longer.

  19. hello vjers!! i got approved yesterday..thank u Lord! :innocent:

but i have ask few questions... :help:

How long does it take to have ur visa delivered??

my friend had her visa approved( 2 weeks ago) but said she was put on AR!that mustve been very frustrating

i mean how could they hold a visa when they already got a pink slip?

and one other friend had her interview a week aho and got aproaved too but she doesnt have her visa yet??

does anyone have the same worries??

    pls share ur experiences.. :bonk:

I got email on sunday April 25th that my wife was issued a visa after being on AP, then she recieved visa yesterday, so it was like 4 days from actual visa approval.

  20. I just bought the plane ticket for the wife, its on May 22, on PAL. Vancouver/Las Vegas, PR106. This is the best economical way, since she has never flown before. I did not want a bunch of plane transfers. I would rather pay a little bit more. I am not too far from Los Angeles, but it is the same price, plus gas for the car and mileage on the car. And this just happens to be our anniversery. :)

  22. I got text from the wife early this morning saying the visa is delivered by air21, I verified by looking it up on their site, signed at 824pm. Now all I am waiting for is my vacation requested to be approved and pay for the flight. She will probably do the CFO next week, departure date is planned for may 22.:dance:
