  1. 1. Besides the NVC letter, the consulate also sends a letter to your address. If you have not received it, you can email them to send you a PDF copy

    and you can print it.

    2. The VFS asks us to do as the packet 4 says, which is to submit the evidence to the VFS. However, I see postings here where VFS told them to carry the evidence to the interview.

    3. As far as I know, No.

    Good luck !

Hey Saheeb thanks so much for taking the time to reply....all the best :)

  2. We have our interview on Jan 15th & are doing the same thing.

    1) Taking print outs of the email. Did not receive anything in mail, all documents were emailed to us.

    2) Taking all documents to the VSF office & copies of all documents & provide whichever ones are required at that stage. Although, from what I've researched they will most probably not ask for any because all the originals are at the embassy already.

    3) no CD's / DVD's etc allowed, taking photographs from different places / occassions.

    Good luck!

Hey thanks for your reply..it was helpful...I now plan to just pay the vfs fees and get the receipt w/o having to send any documents again...after a little research I did on my own...the new delhi embassy website states clearly that if one has submitted documents to the NVC one might just pay the VFS charges just one day prior to the interview...

I wish you success for your interview :)

  3. congratulations to you :)..I've interview on the 8th jan 2010..Since I submitted all documents to NVC I was wondering if I am just supposed to pay the courier charges without submitting any documents at VFS. and carry evidence of marriage ?(photographs etc) to the interview.

I am planning to get my medical done at Chandigarh.

appreciate any responses.....All the best to everyone :)

  4. hey all....wish u all the best for your visa journey

my visa interview has been scheduled on 08 jan 2010 at new delhi and I've a few queries....appreciate anyone who helps :

    1. I 've got my appointment letter as a pdf file in my e-mail from NVC directly. I checked the delhi embassy site and it says that I need to the appointment letter with me on the day of the interview...so I just take a printout of the NVC email or does one receive separate email/mail from the embassy as well?

    2. I had submitted all my original documents to NVC so what do I submit at VFS office?..only photocopy of my passport & photograph? or nothing at all ? The embassy site asks one to submit evidence of marriage (photographs ,phone bills, email, cards etc) also at VFS (?) (but I always thought people carry this stuff with themselves to the ?interview...kindly someone clarify

    3. Is one allowed to take CD's/DVD's ..pen drives to the interview (mine is at new Delhi)? are there any other prohibited items?

i most eagerly wait for any responses and sincerely wish success to all of you :)

  7. especially for those getting police clearance from india...

I was under the impression that after 16 years of age one has to get the PCC from all places one has stayed more than 06 months

but guess what I WAS WRONG

    when i went through

    http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/police_certificates.html

i wasnt sure so i heard it from the horse's mouth....i called the us embassy in delhi.....alrite this shud be in bold cuz i see lot many people are under wrong impression here :

NEW DELHI EMBASSY JUST REQUIRES YOU TO PRODUCE TWO PCC

    1. FROM DISTRICT POLICE OFFICE OF YOUR CURRENT PLACE OF RESIDENCE.

    2. PCC FROM REGIONAL PASSPORT OFFICE...that's it nothing more ......hope it helps :)

  8. fir of all, i would suggest to change your name in passport, as you will get your green card and ssn with new name. It is very difficult to change name afterwards.

Now when you change you name , they will give you new passport ( than yu don't need local pcc if your passport is less than 6 mo old).

And my spouse name is printed on both the PCC, otherwise how would they know the PCC is for your spouse.

The passport office people told me that for some changes they would issue a new booklet ...does that mean a new passport with + 10 year validity

and if I go about doing that are you positive that I wouldnot require any PCC from any other place I stayed more than 6 months...

just the PCC would do it for me?

did you go through this?...was your experience with chandigarh passport office?

sorry for so many questions.. .....

  9. Hi guys,

Can I get Police Clearance Certificate from both pasport office and district office before I have my NO2 or do I have to wait for Package 3??

    Thank you very much.

the thing is that police clearance are good for 6 months ...so you might like to wait a bit lest they expire before your visa...wont take you more than a months anyway.... :)

  10. hey i remember when i got my passport in pakistan it took only two hours to get it,lol, it was long time ago, what ever u do get all the thing on one name. if u can get all her papers in pakistan with her maiden name then apply with her maiden name but u do have to change it again when she comes here, i did everything with married name so i dont have to change her name on the green card and ssn when she comes here, it is up to u, u can send the paper to NVC with married name or maiden name it does not matter, once u approve from USCIS u can change name in NVC wihtout any problem, i had my wife name wrong in USCIS and after NOA2 i changed her name in NVC without any probelm, good luck. abid

hey firstly kudos to you for being so helpful around these forums

please correct me if I am wrong ....from your post I understand that its OK if one gets all paperwork and passport done in maiden name and the only inconvinience one faces is to change the name for the SSN and greencard (I hope its not too tedious a job though )

So after the interview..when one gets a VISA is it issued in maiden name...if not would it conflict with passport and other documents which bear maiden name ?...waiting for your reply :)

  11. I agree completely ...and i appreciate your sharing feelings with everybody...lets resolve to be kinder in our ways with fellow brothers n sisters..

we must think of the items we need help and meet condescending rude people...we dont want to be one of them ...right

btw nobodys replying to my posts :(

I am beginning to think I ask really dumb questions :(

  12. hello everybody.... :)

I am trying to get the passport office police clearance certificate...from the regional passport office at chandigarh...actually i've been staying at present location since january so I would also require the local PCC . The passport office people told me that their procedure of going about the PCC is that they send my papers to local police station and once a verification report is obtained from their they would issue me a PCC...I offered if I could get them the local district PCC just to expedite .....but they said they wont except it and would do it at their end themself

since i would also require a local PCC (as i overstayed the 06 month period)

so it would mean for local police to be doing the same check twice ......could things get easier(faster) for me .....anyway ever caught in such situation...

If we have passport office PCC for a particular address .....the local PCC seems redundant...Is it not needed??...i hope its not..please share

  13. hello everybody :)

seeking your advice again...just saw a demo passport office police clearance certificate .....there's a field for spouse name.....is it ok if it is blank

actually my paasport doesnt bear spouse's name and so if i want husband's name in the PCC i would first have to get it added on my passport....

should I go through with that or did anyone sail through smoothly without husbands name on the PCC ?....could it trigger an RFE ?r

    GOD bless all !!

  14. hello everybody....... :)

I am an Indian married to a US citizen....I am preparing my DS-230 package...

and collecting my police clearance certificates from all places i stayed more than 6 months.

and the one from the passport office....I am worried that if on the certificate it shows "my name" d/o "my father's name"

instead of showing "my name" w/o " my husbands name"...?(the one's i already obtained show my dad's name...didnt think of it earlier :bonk:

does anyone think that might be a problem?.....ofcourse my father's name appears in most of the forms i filled for immigration so logically it shouldn't hurt...i hope it doesnt

my passport office PCC also has father's name..

please share if you ever heard of any RFE on this...or anyone who sailed smoothly with father's name instead of husbands...it'll be so reassuring

waiting for some replies ..thanx :)

  15. hello everybody;

To some of you my question would appear not well researched...sorry for that ...I did read about birth cert on the official site

and basically it said that the certificate must contain :

    • Person’s date of birth

    • Person’s place of birth

    • Names of both parents, and

    • Annotation by the appropriate authority indicating that it is an extract from the official records

However i just want to double check with those of you who have sailed smoothly through this phase

certifiactes issued by what regional authority are acceptable to NVC? ....they keep this part vague...god knows why?

.....also if anyone could post a demo indian birth certificate(i noe its asking for too much ).....i would be so grateful....

  16. Thank you very much for prompt reply. No i haven't received my NO2 yet. :(

How do I add my timeline?

go to immigration timeline on top...than click on timeline functions to the left...and than on edit my entry :)

  17. Hi guys,

Can I get Police Clearance Certificate from both pasport office and district office before I have my NO2 or do I have to wait for Package 3??

    Thank you very much.

i feel you could still wait a little..the thing is that police clearance certificate holds good for 6 months and sometimes 01 year..its always better if your interview is schedule before the 6 months period...shouldn't take more than 01 month for this......
