  1. Hi,

I have my interview coming up but I've lost my original birth certificate which is the main thing as I'm F1 through my dad.

What did they ask and how did it go?

    Thanks.

    Hey Damilolly,

Yes you will need to get your birth certificate sorted as this is pretty important from what I remember.

Regarding other questions I was asked, it was about my mother and father and what they did, how often I'd been to the US, what my step dad did for a living.. If I'm honest there wasn't a whole lot of questioning for me (not sure if it was down to the type of visa and my circumstance) it was all done within about 20 minutes, minus the waiting time in the waiting hall, and it was out of there.

Just make sure you have everything from the check list and if you can, pre pay for the courier service for the delivery of yours passport, I didn't and had to do this there and then in a different part of the embassy after my interview.

Good luck with it and trust me it's really not as scary as it seems, I was really nervous before and couldn't believe how quick and easy it was!!!

  2. Hey guys! :)

Just looking for some help on what questions they might ask during my interview at the embassy in London in a couple of weeks?

I've had a look over the site and haven't found much in the way of people sharing experiences for the F1 i-130 (over 21, unmarried son of USC) interview. I've found loads of examples of couples interviews and what questions they have been asked however basically nothing about a person in my situation.

Not that i have anything to hide, i would rather just have an idea of what they may ask! I like to be prepared!

Does anyone know anything/could share anything?

Thanks in advance for any help!!! :D :D :D

  3. Hi, my PD is same as you

did you complete your case at http://ceac.state.gov? mine says N/A at documents parts

i send the documents 2 month ago, then they send a letter for additional docs and i send those about one month ago but still no change!

do you have any idea how long it gona take for them to change N/A into Complete?

    Hey Shariati,

I'm not sure what this is showing as, I don't currently have my details to check.

When I retrieve these from my sponsor I will update.

  4. aaron2020 Is this true for all nationalities?

I heard this was only specific to the Philippines... I'm hoping you're right however!!

My PD is Feb 08 and I am under the category F1, this was changed 2 years ago when my mother became a citizen, before that I was F2B....

Over the last year my mother has called to ask if we can revert back to the F2B (as I would now be current) however was told it is not possible.. ??

Anyone else know anything about this?

  5. Hey Andres!

Just read where you are up to with it all, congratulation on the approval!!!!

The only thing now would be to wait and keep your eye on the Visa Bulletin. This gives an idea of the timescales and what dates are being processed currently, it's not always exact but it gives you a rough idea. The Bulletin is normally released on or around the 10th of the month which will give information for the coming month. You can find this online, I normally type US Visa Bulletin into Google and it comes up.

I'm hoping the F1 category speeds up soon, I changed from an F2B only last year so I'm gutted to see the F2B has now overtaken the F1.... I have an I-130 too, I have been waiting since Feb 2008 so hopefully not long to go now!!

My Mum (US Citizen/petitioner) calls the USCIS every 3-4 months for a check up however most of the time they are only able to tell you whats on the Bulletin. I think it's out of hope if anything!! lol

    Hope this helps!! :)

  6. Hey, so this would this just be for the Philippines or would it be the same for all other countries too?

I've been wasting my time reading prediction that FB2 will surpass F1 PD in the very near future, next bulletin. So, how can some of us benefit from this movement? Well, I found that that if you were classified as a FB2 and was moved to F1, you can request that the conversion be revoked. Interesting, just some random info.

    See Details here:

    http://blogs.usembassy.gov/philippines/?p=356

    F2B – F1 Conversion

In F2B cases, when the LPR petitioner naturalizes, this results in the mandatory visa reclassification of the petition. The F2B visa petition will be converted to the F1 visa category, retaining the same priority date.

However, because of unique circumstances, in the Philippines the waiting period for the F1 category is longer than the F2B category.

Under Section 6 of the CSPA, the applicant can request exemption from the automatic conversion of the visa category from F2B to F1 by submitting to the Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (DHS/USCIS) a written statement that he elects to have such conversion revoked.

  7. If you are looking for gossip and/or speculations about immigration process… I suggest you go read news about CIR (Comprehensive Immigration Reform) which has already been approved by the US Senate in a bipartisan fashion and is waiting for some kind of action on the House. What’s the next move?... well the many different answers to that question will give you all the material you are looking for!

Wow!!!! that's fantastic, I remember hearing some news about a shuffle in the summer but didn't think anything of it. After just reading up on the Immergration Reform 2013 this excites me no end, to think there could be some (hopefully) major changes in the process which could speed this whole thing up for us is wonderful.

I read it would be within the next 3-4 weeks the decision would be made on this, does that seem right?

or even by tonight, Monday 4th November, we should have a better idea if this could be possible.

    Let's all hope so!!! :)

I hope i've read up on this all right anyway!!!

  8. Hey everyone,

I often visit the USCIS site and come on here daily to search in hope for anything, no matter how small, about the progress of our applications. I'm sure i'm in the same boat as the majority of the people here. Applied for a Visa many years ago and am now 'stood' in line waiting for the holy grail... a number which will allow my life to move forwards in such an exciting way.

What I'm asking is, does anyone have any gossip, hear say or information from the inside about anything new to be coming our way? anything that could give us all a little boost?

It's been nearly 6 years since I applied and have at least 18 months to go, which is more than bearable I know, however it would be lovely to hear, for example they are having a huge 'clear out' or 're-shuffle' and this means it will increase everyones process by x years or months.

For such a hugh organisation I hoped the news and udates would be more frequent.

Not having a pop at anyone or anything, just looking for some possitive news or 'gossip' (as we say in England) not just for my specific visa but to any type of family based visa.

If you don't ask, you don't get! lol

    That's was all :)

Hold in there everyone, we can all make this!!!

  9. Hey!! thanks so much for your input so far, so in reply...

I am from the UK and the I1-30 was approved back in 2008.

Wow I can't beleive how long the wait is... but I understand there are thousands of people in the same situation and it's not just me. I wish there was a way of speeding all of this up and letting the honest, legitimate people in quicker.

how do we find out when the time comes? is it just an email or letter that is sent to my Mum? or maybe a phone call..

  10. Hey everyone,

So my Mum (LPR) filed an i1-30 for me (i'm over 21 and unmarried) in Febuary 2008, I understand that this is my PD. After 6 months I got a letter sent to me stating the application had been approved, so maybe this is my PD, I'm not sure. Either way it has been 4 years since I have received anything from them about my application so I am worried I could have missed a letter in the post.

My mum calls the USCIS every 6 months to see if there is any progress however there never seems to be. When I log into the uscis.gov website the coloured circles at the top are on last one which is named 'Post Decision Activity'. Is this normal for my case and do I just have to sit and wait? I really don't want to miss out on doing anything which is expected of me.

Also my Mum just applied for citzenship so I have been told this could cut my total waiting time down to around 6 years, is this true?

Thank you in advance, any help would be much appriciated,

    Nice One

  11. Hey, just a quick question...

I have a I-130 Visa which was filed in feb 2008 which i am waiting on, while i wait for that... could i if my company was able to, transfer me from the UK offices to one in the States, could i then have a work visa until my number came up for the I-130??

basically can I have two visa applications running at the same time?

    Any help would be great.

  12. Hey all, Just a quick question about some options we have regarding my Visa Application...

My mum is currently a Green Card Holder (LPR i think it's called) in the USA (originally for the UK) and we have had my I-130 application approved as of Aug 2008. I understand this take 6-8 years for me to get the visa number I am so badly waiting for, that is the current situation I am in.

My question is, if my Mum becomes a US Citizen how long will this take off of the waiting time? are we talking 2 years, less or more? it must speed it up a bit...

I am an unmarried 25 year old, the visa was approved after i turned 21 :( Another quick question, what preference am i classed as at the moment? like I said, over 21 and unmarried with a Permanent Resident as my sponser. Also what preference would I be classed as if my Mum was to become a US Citizen?

    So in a nutshell...

How long would it cut off of my waiting time if my mum was to become a US citizen?

    What preference am I currently?

What preference would I be if my Mum became a US citizen?

Many thanks for any help or advice given, it will be much appreciated.

    Nice One
