I completed my interview today for naturalization and was given a letter showing approval.
I also had a name change request in N400 (my indian passport has last and first names interchanged) which requires judicial oath ceremony.
IO said my request for name change will be forwarded to court for approval and then a judicial oath ceremony will take place.
She wasn't sure which court actually will be dealing with this. I suggested I live in Denton County area and she said it might take 90 days.
Has anyone who attended interview in Irving office had experience with judicial oath ceremony for name change with naturalization? How long does it take to get the oath letter?

I will be eligible to apply for N-400 soon and plan to change my name both first and last name. (as its too long and jumbled in current passport).
Does anyone have any similar experience of name change with N-400? I read this can add to 2-3 months delay. Is this always true?
Any idea how are the timelines in Dallas, TX - when name change is done and judicial oath ceremony is required?

Hi Everyone,
Currently I have I-751 pending and will be eligible for N-400 by May.
I plan to go for a name change during N-400 process.
Intent is to have the correct last name and first name. My current home country passport
has it jumbled incorrectly, but I continued to use it for sake of consistency all these years.
However my wife is already a US Citizen and plans to take my last name. So that would be another
name change process I believe.
I read that name change during naturalization happens via Federal Court.
What steps should we adopt for our case.
Thanks!

Congratulations!!!
I had my interview today morning @ Philadelphia Office...and it was very quick - about 5 mins.
The officer said she was ordering my card and printed out something.
However she did not give me any letter confirming the approval, nor put any stamp on my passport.
She took I-94 and put an APPROVED stamp on my I-485 application.
No update on card production yet on website. I hope I get GC in mail very shortly.
Also, does anyone know what photo is used for GC - one taken during fingerprinting??
Thanks!

Hi,
I got my interview letter today. Its for Aug 25th.
It might be a little offtopic question but any information would be helpful for our planning.
The lettter says its required that both me and my spouse be present in the interview.
We are thinking if its okay to take our infant daughter also with us, since
we dont have other arrangements like day care or someone else to do babysitting.
The letter also says " You need not get the children, unless either asked .."
If its not strictly disallowed, we would rather have our daughter accompany us.
(another concern is she is a noisy kid.. )
Does anyone know if taking your child alongwith you to the interview is okay?
If not, we would start thinking on making some adjustments like daycare
immediately..
Thanks in advance..

Its on May 20th and I am thinking of trying to get it done before that
if possible. I might get have to travel to another city during that week
for work...
Has anyone tried for a walkin in Philadelphia. Any experience to share?

p.s.,
As for tracking your package - often times you'll get odd-looking results (such as 'attempted delivery') when in actuality the package could very well have been received. If not - if they actually did attempt to deliver, but did not (for what ever reason) , yes - they will likely redeliver.
Thanks Karen and Otto, yes that's what my husband told me so,if they returned the package then we will change the address and sent it back...Lol..But anyways someone from the member in here told me in private message that they also sent in that address that we sent and its all fine,USCIS received their AOS packet and everything went well..Gosh Thanks..Lol
Hi ChristophandEvan,
We are in exact same situation.
Our package delivery was not done due to saturday and its the same address we used.
FBAS.
Did you call up the post office and do something for redelivery? or was it redelivered automatically?
We are really worried now whats going to happen to the package and not to mention the
delay.
Thanks!

After Name change
in US Citizenship General Discussion
Posted · Edited by pcsbhat79
I have oath ceremony tomorrow and requested a name change. What would be recommended sequence of events to be done after naturalization certificate is provided. i.e. in terms of name change getting reflected in other documents.
I read in one of forums that its better to do SSA and DMV same day and then submit passport forms, as naturalization
certifacte otherwise wouldnt be available once sent over with passport application.
Any experiences or recommendations on which should be done first
