  1. Don't wait till next week. Call NVC now!! I just spoke to an operator. We have a June 8 interview!!:dance:

did you get an email yet?

Not yet. The operator said we will get it in the next couple of days.

HEY CARLISH, WOW IM AMAZED UR INTERVEIW DATE WAS ALREADY ASSIGNED.. I CALL UP THE OPERATOR THE OTHER DAY BUT STILL HAVE NO INTERVIEW DATE.. I WILL TRY TO CALL THEM ON MONDAY.

Your interviewed has probably been assigned too. Your case was approved earlier than ours. Your interview should be before June 8. Goodluck.

It's just crazy because June 8 is only less than 30 days away. We are waiting for the appointment/interview letter from NVC. As soon as we received that, my husband will take his medical exam at St Lukes. There are so many things he needs to take care of before his interview. Anyway, we're excited and nervous. The best thing is I will come home to visit him in the Philippines so I can go with him at the US Embassy for his interview.

Carlish, I'm going to PI also and am planning to go with my husband for his interview. Do you know if we'll be allowed to go into the embassy with them?

We're allowed to go inside the embassy. I think we can be with our hubby till the pre-screening interview. But we will need to wait outside (waiting room area) during the actual interview with the consul.

Goodluck. Hope you guys get that darn visa!

Thanks! Good luck to you too...it's been quite a long journey for all of us!

  3. Has anyone been able to get an interview date whose case completed recently? Just trying to see where I'm at in comparison to the others. How long long does it usually take to get an interview date after the case has completed?

What do you mean by "completed"? It's kinda confusing. If you mean that NVC has approved your case already and forwarded it to USEM.....USEM will send you an instruction letter. Once you receive that letter you are eligible to set your schedule for interview. You can also call USEM to check if your case is already in their system even if you haven't received their letter yet. And if it is already in their system then you can set your schedule without the letter.

According to AVR, case was completed on 4/27. From what I understand, I'm supposed to wait for them to give us a schedule for the interview. I don't know if they've forwarded our case to USEM. Everytime I called the NVC, AVR just says it's completed, not mentioning whether it's been forwarded or not so I don't know what I'm waiting for exactly. Are they going to forward the case first to USEM before they set a schedule? The operator just told me to wait for their email but i'm kinda impatient cuz I don't know what I'm waiting for exactly.

I guess your not K1 or K3 ,coz K visas are the one who will schedule there interview to USEM once the NVC forwarded there paper..if you are CR1 or IR1 and your case was completed then the NVC will send you email that shows your interview date and time... I just called NVC last 1 hour ago, the operator told me that they give interview date every second week of the month for the following month interview..i.e next week nvc will give us interview date for June...operator told me as well that Month of May is already full...so i guess will wait till next week..btw my case was completed last April 24 but i do not have interview date yet from NVC :whistle:

Actually it's my husband who is a CR1, I'm the petitioner. Thank you so much, that was helpful! Waiting is just so frustrating! I'm leaving to go to the Philippines on May 18th and I want to be able to tell my husband some good news regarding his interview. :star: At least we'll be together while we wait.

  4. What's up with the NVC? I've been trying to call them since yesterday. It's always busy. I have never had this hard a time trying to contact them. Has anyone from the Philippines gotten an interview dated yet whose case was completed recently?

Ahahaha! I think I've been calling NVC everyday but it was never on my speed dial. Crazy as I am, I've beeen calling the wrong number....silly me!

  7. Hi can i just join here instead of posting another topic,

since i read about CEMAR thing, and i have a question,..

i got Cemar already, but i noticed that the purpose stated there is for legal purposes instead of for travel abroad or travel USA.

you think guyz this is just okay to bring at USEM on my interview?? or i need to order another one..

i just wanna make things so sure before doing some action,..

nanghihinayang din kc ako sa money since mahal din ang CEMAR..

    Thank you..

I think you're better off getting a new one to prevent any further delays. Don't give them a reason to delay the process nor give them any second thoughts.

  8. Hi. Im just waiting for my interview....and im just wondering what to bring regarding proof of relationship. Do I need to ask my husband to send all the letters that i sent him? Or they only need my husband letter that he sent to me? thanks!

Aside from the letters (he sent you), you should also bring phone bills (if you talk on the phone), pictures of you together, remittances receipts (as proof of support), copies of your BC and MC and also your CENOMAR. If you don't have the CENOMAR yet, better get one now while waiting for your interview since it would take at least two weeks to get that.

Question: I'm confused. Why would she need a CENOMAR? Isn't that the Certificate of No Marriage? How do you get that if you're already married?

I say just bring everything you have. By the way, our timeline is sooo similar; even our wedding day was on the same day :)

  10. congrats! our case just got completed recently too, on the 27th of April. Though, I'm not sure what this means now. Do you know what happens next? I'm assuming the schedule for the interview. It looks like our case is getting processed around the same time. I wonder when we will get scheduled for the interview.

yeah thats good congrats to you! are you from the philippines?

I was born there but I'm in California right now. I'm petitioning my husband who is in the Phil.

  11. A joint sponsor is basically anyone who is willing to take financial responsibility for the beneficiary (in this case, this is you) other than the petitioner. If the petitioner doesn't meet the requirement, a joint sponsor can be used. The joint sponsor's income and/or assets must equal at least 125 percent of the Poverty Guidelines. A joint sponsor can be any U.S. citizen, or a lawful permanent resident who is at least 18 years old, domiciled in the United States, or its territories or possessions, and willing to be held jointly liable with the petitioner for the support of the intending immigrant. A joint sponsor does not have to be related to the petitioning sponsor or the intending immigrant. The petitioner and and the joint sponsor must both submit an AOS form and its requirements.

    thanks!!

by any chance you'd know how to count household people?

example: a single person will be our joint sponsor, are we still counting under two person household (me and the joint sponsor) or will my joint sponsor's income now have to meet three person household income (friend, hubby, me)?

this is complicated but the joint sponsor can use his/her income alone if it meets the requirements also taking in consideration how many dependents he/she has.

    for example:

JS has to meet 125% of poverty guideline - this depends on how many dependents they have. Let's just say they have 1 dependent so JS household size is 2. Their income has to be at least $18,212 (look in the poverty guideline). JS's household size doesn't necessarily have to include your husband. I hope this makes sense.

  12. I would like to bring up to you exactly what your asking of people. Your asking if someone here on VJ would be your co-sponsor. I would like to point out to you that the I-864 and I-864a is a legally binding contract between the sponsor, co-sponsor and the US goverment. This is binding for up to 10 years. So lets just say 12 months after you get here you and your husband split up and get divorced. Now lets just say you apply for public assistance (health care, food stamps or any other goverment sponsored public assistance). The goverment could come back on your husband and co-sponsor for reimbursment of these benifits. I for one would never put myself on the hook for this for some stranger on the internet. No one but you know what your true intensions are, you could just be using your husband to get to the US to have a better life for you and your family back home. Sorry to be so blunt about this but what your asking is insane.

    OMG!! SORRY!!!

I didn't mean fill it out with me as your beneficiary... NO NO NO!!

I mean, just literally walk me through on how to fill our a form!

GEEZ!!! I didn't think people would see it that way!

Btw, I wouldn't throw accusations about me wanting to get to the US and using my husband. I'm sorry but that's out of the line. You are being rude.. and I don't appreciate rude people! You could've asked in a nicer way. Just my two cents.

I think some may have misunderstood you. But I understand what you were asking. I had to do the same thing for my husband and the whole process was really confusing for me.

  13. hello everyone!

i'm looking for someone who can help us file a joint sponsor application for our I-130 application.

it seems that our 2008 gross income is $4000 below the poverty guideline.

i'm not going to go into details here (my husband likes his privacy), safe to say we're kinda screwed financially. not too much.. but enough to not make it for the I-130 application.

we're thinking of filing for a joint sponsor... my husband is a self-employed businessman... so if there's anybody here who can help us. I'd appreciate if you can leave a message here and i'll send a PM about the details of our situation.

    Couple of questions include:

    1. can we get a friend to JS me?

    2. what income bracket do we now consider ourselves in?

    3. is this an RFE material?

    4. can i be denied because of this, even if i found a JS for me?

thank you! looking forward to some interesting ideas and suggestions.
