  1. Salam/Hello everyone!

I'm new to VJ and to MENA and I am surprised by how help and support mostly everyone seems to have. Just a brief introduction:

My fiance is from Morocco and we have just petitioned for the K-1 Visa. I have been to Morocco twice (once for 6 weeks, second for 2 weeks) and my family knows that I have decided to get married to a man that I fell in love with whom conveniently lives in North Africa. My family and friends have not met my fiance although they have heard much about him and will be happy to meet him. His mom (his father passed away years ago) and family absolutely loves me and I love them equally. My dad is okay with my decision as long as I am happy and my fiance is able to take care of me and so on.

My mom........well, let's just say that she would rather have me die an old maid than get married to him. My mom is well-traveled, open-minded (for the most part) and loves people from cultures all over the world! Well, that is what I thought unless she just does not want me to marry someone from Morocco. She has never met my fiance although she refuses to chat with him over the phone or through the internet. She is obviously very protective of me and she has expressed true hate for wanting to marry this man. Honestly, I don't think she wants me to marry a Muslim man. She had a hard enough time when I accepted Islam (Alahmdullilah!) over 4 years ago. What's funny is that she has Muslim friends and has no problem with them. I hinted to her that I will bring my fiance to the US but I definitely did not tell her that I filed for an actual visa. If I did that, I really think she will do everything in her power to ruin the process. Unfortunately, I had to eliminate a lot of information on my profile due to this situation. I am afraid she will find out.

I am also concerned about our interview in the future(ISA). What if they ask if my parents like him? Should I tell them "I do not know since they do not know him well" or should I just tell them "My dad is excited to meet him and my mom...."

Anyhow, I am curious to hear of any similar stories. Does anyone have trouble with parents/friends not accepting the relationship/marriage? Culture or religion barriers?

Thank you for your time and God Bless!

i dont see anything wrong here coz u r the one that gonna marry him and not ur Mom ... so it is ur life and u can do wherever u want , good luck

  2. I called the embassy today and they told me that the officer was reviewing the information and he is just in AP and they would contact him. And at the same time I was talking to them on phone I received this email:

    Dear Madam,

Thank you for your email inquiry. Your fiancé’s case requires additional administrative processing. We will notify him as soon as the processing is complete.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

But even though they say AP still doesnt sound good by the way the interview went. I wonder if anyone else has had crappy interviews like this and still gotten approved.

All the Moroccan males cases to go throught the AP no matter what ....

  3. My fiancé is driving me nuts. I am the US Citizen and he is Moroccan. He received his packet about a week ago and we are just now going over it. I have been telling him forever that we need proof of our relationship and I will get stuff together and bring it when I come in a few weeks. He is saying the information sheet that he received says something to the effect, "Don’t bring more than what we requested." He swears up and down that there is nothing that says to bring proof and now he is concerned that if he brings the proof they won't let him in. OMG!! I pretty much told him, I didn't care what it said; we were going to bring proof. I told him about other couples from Morocco who have had their interview and they took proof. What did everyone’s letter say? How did you present your proof? I have ours in a 3 ring binder with labels to the different sections. Thoughts/ideas?

    Thanks

huh! so ask him what Mean bring Evidence of our relationship?!!! it is the last thing that they are asking u to bring with u to the interview , it is not ur choice ..

  4. You are Moroccan? Did you come here on a K1 with an American woman and recently got divorced?

if i came on a k1, i'm gonna know the procedure? and i don't have to ask.if you can't help be quite

i think u needed to get married in Morocco , they may use it as excuse to deny ur K1( i mean that u r Moroccan in the end and K1 wont work for u ) good luck anyway

  5. im confused , and cant trust consulate anymore :-(

after interview i got 3 calls from embassy , 1st time to bring I864 from co sponsor , second time to bring W2!! and yesterday they asked for e864W that hubby should file and send it !

i asked them if anything else they need !! i cant take the train everytime 4 hours tripp ! im tired of this !

so the CO or i dont know who was on phone , said no we need nothing else , just bring the form and come next day to pick up your visas !!

    ok we'll see then !

normally ill got the form from DHL on monday morning and ill go to consulate in the evening !

i know u s soo stress out but just try to relax and everythings is gonna be right . taking train 4hours that mean u r from Meknes !!!??

  6. wow , that s odd , i have read alot hings and i see that when they have doubt in some case theygive it to this lady ( even when i was there she was nice with some but i was hearing her when she was refusing visas and they were alot cases that got refused that day ) well try to contacte ur senator or Congressman may they can help u , dont waste ur time and good luck

  7. Im tryng to find the lastes interview reviews for Casablanca, Morocco. Did they take ur passport? Anyone not get a paper in the end? Is there a way to look at the status on my case right now online? Thanks!!

well for my case they didnt take my passport but they give me the G paper and they told me that will call me in few weeks and that is what happened ..

  8. When did you file AOS with him?

as of may 2009 he was denied he is suppose to receive a letter by Nov 6th, they reopened his case for another review. I am withdrawing the Affidavit of support and I will also make an Infopass this week, along with the evidence I have.

Wow , he is a bad guy he deserve to go home and be with his Moroccan wife , but i dont think sh ewill stay with him anymore if he leaves the USA :D

  9. Police certificate is obtained from the local police department. the court papers are called the Fiche Anthropometrique and is obtained from the courthouse!

    Hope that helps!

Fiche Anthropometrique?? hhhh Sounds german! lol Ok! We'll try that and see if that helps. I was telling him, with the amount of people I am sure that have come through there asking for these papers, that certainly they would know what to give them.... atleast you would think. Thanks!

well it is a Police and Court Record ... Fiche Anthropometrique it is in French and it is a Popular name of the Court record in Morocco , he need to go to the courthouse ( city when he was Born not where he lives ) and he will need an Original Birthcertificate for that and 20Dh ( he will get it in the same day ) .... and Police record he can go to the Local Police departement he will need a Copy OF his ID and 30dhs, and he will get it in 2days

    good luck

Why do you suppose you can only get it in the town where you were born? Has anyone been sucessful in getting it where you live? He would have to travel far to get it. Thanks!

well that is how it works in Morocco , he will need to travle to the city where he was born to get a court Record ! but the police record he can get it from where he lives!
