    PET PEEVE -

What "Date I-129F NOA1 (Receipt)" means is not the date you receive your NOA1 in the mail,

but the date when the Service Center receives/acts on I-129F form & sends the I-797C receipt

    to you.

Timeline instructions (for NOA1) might be amended to say:

    "Date printed on I-129F receipt {I-797C (NOA1)}"

In most actions (taking weeks or months), the difference between the date printed on the receipt and the

date you get it in the mail is not that great (days), but in the case of the NOA1 (a step that often takes

two-three days), the resulting stats may be distorted because the mail may take a week or more

    to deliver it.

We can celebrate the mail receipt date in our profiles (no harm in that) but for the database it should

be kept simple & consistent since mail delivery times vary. There is only one date when the Service Center

does the job and gets it out the door. That measures the efficiency of the USCIS or Department of State

    rather than the USPS.

    ALSO -

In giving congratulations, check that the OP has updated his/her timeline.

It's not polite to fellow members to come out there screaming "I did it, I did it"

and not updating your TL (or not even having a TL for your friends to see).

Stronly agree with your idea. I was confused before.

See your time, it's really a very ....how to say, long and ...I don't know how to discribe your love story:)

    Wish you happy.

  2. What's a 230I? Are you talking about the DS-230? If so, in answer to question 2 you would list any names you've ever used, including legal names and aliases. Don't list your current legal name - that goes in question 1. The whole point of them asking about other names and aliases is so that they can do a background check on those names. If you fail to list a name just because you "don't want to make things complex" or "make the background checks take longer" then you risk a finding of material misrepresentation - your visa would be denied, and you'll face a possible lifetime ban from the US.

You don't need to submit death certificates for your parents, brothers, sisters, or practically anyone else. The only death certificates that might be needed is if you had a previous marriage that ended because of the death of your spouse. In that event, you'd submit the death certificate rather than a divorce decree.

DS-230 Part I is part of Packet 3, which belongs to the consular interview stage - moving thread to appropriate forum:

    US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

Thank you. I guess I should input the name. although they are just my childhood names. :(

  3. Hey, may I ask for your opinion about the other names issue?

Due to my mum's divorce and remarry, my name was changed twice. First time, 3 years old, changed to follow my mum's family name after she divorced. Second time, 12 years old, changed to my current father's family name after she remarried. Since 12 years old, never changed.

In this case, whether I should input both previous childhood names on the form 230I in P3?? I don't want to make things complex and make the background check longer...

By the way, my bio-father has passed away. Whether I should also prepare for his death certification?

    Many thanks :)

    Anyone knows??:)

  5. 1) 2 days after NOA2, starting calling NVC: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5.

    2) Once NVC has your case, they assign a new case #. Ask them what date they sent your file to the embassy & also for the NVC case #.

    3) Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef For the reference code, enter EXP 10 JUL 2009A (adjust using dates just before the date NVC told you), with a shipping range of that day to a few days later (July 13 - July 14 worked for the example above). Look for shipments to your beneficiary's embassy.

    4) To find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0

    Hey pizzadude,

Do you call them 2 days after receiving NOA2 hard copy or after receiving NOA2 confirmation email? Thanks!

Of cause, we get our case number and they told us it has been sent to our consulate already.

Has anyone ever experienced the NVC telling you the package was mailed, but it actually was not?

WA! This news is a big news:)

The information is great! But where you could see these information? Any links?

  8. What will be?

If I leave US just after get married, before I get status adjustment finished? If you do this it will indicate to the USCIS that you are abandoning your status. You can leave...but you cannot return and your spouse would have to reapply for you with a spouse visa. You really do need to read the guides about K-1 Visas.

We are planing to have the wedding during Christmas there, and we want to come back for Spring Festival here in China. But that is on 14 Feb. Obviously we don't have enough time to finish my status adjustment. Doesn't sound like you'll have enough time unless you file ASAP after your marriage. It might be possible to get Advanced Parole approved in time. Just maybe though...can't promise that.

Whether I will be refused to entry US again after the spring festival if I just leave like that? You will be refused entry UNLESS you have your Advanced Parole document IN HAND when you enter the U.S. again. That is the ONLY way you can come back before your AOS is approved. You have to indicate you want this when you apply for AOS...it's all included with the price.

Or whether my husband (at that time) could go back first to get my temporary green card and mail to me, then I could enter US again? There is that possibility but AOS approvals aren't the quick kind. Not sure what they are running now, but when my husband adjusted status his approval took 10 months. Just sayin'.

    Waiting for your opinion :)

We really appreciate your help..Here does has so many kind and nice person :)

The above comments are just my opinion and not to be taken as the best course of action. Read the Guides...they have a wealth of information that will answer your questions far better.

Thank you very much for your advices. In fact, that's what I think. But my bf seems doesn't believe although he never learn and do research on this K1 visa issue. Now I will let him come to read this, to give him the proof.

Thank you again, they are very clear :)

Oh, thank you a lot! Very detail!! we will try:)

By the way, you wedding pics are beautiful! Happy for both of you! :)

Most of my info came in the mail - I only bounced on the website (uscis) after I received mail from them. (I did manage to get a few emails from that site).

If you call NVC - they do not track K-1 cases by the automated help line, you will need to talk to a human. (customer service number - listed on their site)

Thank you too! You are so kind and nice :)

  11. :innocent: Hey, I saw many of your timeline showed that when your approved petition has been mailed out from USCIS, and when it arrived in NVC, and when it leaves NVC....

But where you get this information? You trace it online (website) by a reference number or you call their customer service hotline? If it is online, is it on the NVC website?

Thank you very much. I know it's a very basic question, but I really don't know :(

  12. If you have both your NO1 and your NOA2 already I am jealous and don't think you should be complaining about being treated unfairly.

However I have to add my 10 cents which you probably don't care to hear.

There are plenty of people on here who have been treated unfairly by the US immigration system (look at my timeline, peak into the 6months + waiting club or simply find estiada and you will see what I mean) there is really no "fairness" in this system. And sadly as horrible as it sounds, nothing you can really do about that treatment...

I am so sorry to read your timeline.....If I were you, I will do the same, to solve it on the court. Too bad!! I didn't get NOA2, we are not that lucky. We got our NOA1 almost 40 days after we sent our I129

  13. As more I explored here, I noticed every one get their NOA1 in less than 10 days.

I don't know why only ours, sent petition on 6 April, get phone call three days later say we need submit another form. Mailed to them again on around 22 April, however, we get NOA2 on 6 June which said our petition was received on 24 May.

I don't know where our petition was during 22 Apirl to 24 May. As we definitely mailed it by Fedex...

Now we are stuck....should be two months ealier...

Don't know what we can do? Feel very disappointed about US government and very unfairly treated. :crying:

Your post and your timeline dont match.. did you get your NOA2 in June as stated here or the NOA1 in June as stated in the timeline? If you got your NOA2.. you are in better shape than most..

    Which is it??????

    Why not match?

    I129 sent on 6 April

Get call in one week, need more forms

    Recent on around 22 Apirl

    then received NOA1 7 June.

    Then get nothing till now

It appears you received "exceptional" service... most people would not have received a phone call and simply would have had the package returned 30 -60 days later....

Really? Actually after you all tell me that at least I am still not in a too bad case and maybe I am treated especially makes me feel better...

    Thank you all :)

prepare your evidence as much as you can, prepare your fiancee to answer the questions that the VO may ask, you should visit candleforlove.com for the questions.. once in candleforlove.com goto "interview results" and look for people that passed the interview, they usually post the questions that was asked..

See your marriage date, just congratulations :)

Hang in there. The process is not known for fairness :(

I'd add that you never know... your 1-month delay there may not really mean much.

For example, people who filed in March were getting approved before me and I filed in December. You could still get approved around or before others that submitted at the end of April. You just never know.

yes~ I see. Some people submitted later than you and they have already got the visa....

Maybe this had something to do with you trouble. Consider yourself lucky they usually don't call they just send forms back for you to resubmit.

Your process is very quick :) Happy for you! Congratulations...We must believe sometimes there is miracle, like yours :)
