Hi Kathy,
I understand you might have a financial situation, but if you could fly directly into Ciudad Juarez International it is only about 5 miles to the hotel. You also eliminate the potential for being stuck in line at the border.
Okay, that being said I do not know if you have looked into El Paso’s airport website at http://www.elpasointernationalairport.com/2009/index.html yet. If you go to the service tab they have a ground transportation link. As this is a small airport I would suggest you make all your arrangements ahead of time. I do not recall seeing any kiosk there for local transportation, but if there is one, it will probably be directly across from the baggage claim area. Depending upon your time of arrival many of the kiosks that are there do close in the evening. The last flights coming in usually arrive before midnight.
Most of the local taxi companies charge $60-100 to go to Juarez, but due to recent events those prices might have changed. Maybe the hotel might also have some suggestions for you getting to their hotel. I would suggest this as it might be easier to get to the hotel then back to the airport for your return trip.
Good luck
Greg
Hi Greg,
I appreciate the info. I actually hadn't thought about flying into Juarez directly. But, it sounds like I may need to.
I'll check into it.
Thanks again,
Kathy

I do not know the answer, but I do know there are quite a few threads on immigrate2us.net on this subject with recommendations.
Thanks Boiler,

Hi Guys,
Manuel went for his interview a week ago. He got the physical, turned in the paperwork, got fingerprinted, all without a hitch. He went to the interview , and the only question the woman asked him was if I spoke fluent Spanish and if he spoke fluent English. He said we both spoke a little of each. Of course, "a little" can be interpreted differently by different people. She asked him where I was and he told her I was in the US because I had to work. She then said I would have to come to Juarez for an interview. Needless to say we are both getting frustrated with this whole process. We have known each other for four years. I have been to visit him in Mexico, but he has not been here because he does not 'qualify' for a tourist visa. (No real estate or professional job.)I can understand that there is 7 years difference in our age, and maybe that, and his response triggered a ?????????. But, they say be honest about everything, and we have. It just seems like we get spanked for being honest. He could have said I spoke fluent Spanish, and that probably would have been then end of that. But, that would not have been the truth. So, we are preparing for both of us to go back in November. We can't go sooner due to the cost of the trip to Juarez, and my job. Anyway...... I am going to have to fly into El Paso. And go from there to La Quinta Inn and Suites in Juarez. Due to safety concerns, since I will be traveling alone from the airport to Juarez, what is the best option of transportation for getting from El Paso Airport to the hotel in Juarez? Also, has anyone had anything similar to this, happen to them?
Thanks for all of your help, and good luck to everyone!

Finally, good news! Manuel, and I were approved on May 28.
I got the email yesterday morning. What a wonderful surprise for the holiday !I was getting a little worried because it had been two weeks since the touches. Manuel doesn't even know it yet. His job has him in a remote area, and I can't get the signal to his cell phone.
VSC seems to be picking up the pace. Good luck to everyone. VSC, k
keep those approvals coming!

I feel you're pain.
No NOA2 yet. It's been two weeks since the last touches. No RFE, no NOA2... Did someone go on vacation at VSC?

I just received a text and email this afternoon that our case was updated. Apparently, our petition was approved and mailed out 05-17-10. It's kind of funny because I am flying to the Philippines tomorrow morning so I won't be able to get the "hard copy" until I return.
Looks like we're still moving in the right direction.
Congrats!!!
VSC must be moving along. We got touched yesterday and then again today. No change in status yet. But, hey, at least someone has finally found our file!
Good luck to everyone and hopefully, we'll all get approved REAL soon!!!

Just a quick question...
We got our NOA1 for our 129F on 02/22/2010. In March, I had to change my address (applicant's). I did this on line. (Noone at USCIS can give me an answer, so I thought I would ask you.
) Will this affect the processing time on our application?
Thanks for the help, and good luck to everyone!!!

I am about to submit the adjustment of status form and the authorization for employment forms for my K1 Visa spouse and my two K2 Visa children and I can not believe that it is necessary to translate their birth certificates from spanish to english. I find it difficult to comprehend that as prevalent a language spanish is that our Homeland Security does not have staff that can read documents written in Spanish. Can anyone comment on their experiences with this and how I can go about having the birth certificates translated into english
.
Thank you for your replies.
Hi Quiet,
I had to have birth certificates translated also. If there is a local college near you, you can call and ask to speak to their Foreign Language or Spanish Department. They usually have professors who will do it for a small or minimal fee. You can also check with your local library, Latino Coalition, or check the local yellow pages for translators.
I used a Spanish professor at the university for some things, and a translating business for the rest.
Good luck!

Hi Guys,
Just wanted to drop a couple of suggestions that helped me and Manuel.
If you're new to VJ, be sure to check out the guides section. It will tell you how to fill out everything, the timing of everything and answer questions you probably have. I have used it real often. (My and Manuel's problems first time around were not caused by anything on VJ. They helped us get it straightened out.)
Also, checking out the home page and how to use VJ. You will be AMAZED at all of the information that is available if you take the time to check it out.
And, regional forums are great. You can talk with people based on the country your fiance is from. Various countries experiences very different things in this journey. The regional forums can help you through with the particular region you are dealing with.
Just a few things that helped us,
Welcome to the journey and good luck to everyone!!

Hey, no other VSC, FEB 2010 filers out there?
Hi Tom and Tanya,
You are not alone
I had a really hard time finding this subforum, so maybe more people will start finding it.
The hardest part of this fantastic journey is the waiting. But, time will pass quicker than you think. Manuel and I had originally filed in April 2009, but needed to refile. (Don't get concerned because of this, Manuel and I just ran into paperwork glitches. Our glitches were the odds of 'one in a million'. Let us introduce ourselves... We are the 'one in a million') So, we are starting over.
VJer's are a wonderful group of people who answer questions
,laugh with you
, cry with you
, and cheer you on
.
Have a wonderful journey and keep us posted!

I really don't know what to say, except I am very sorry and stay strong.

Sorry. I should have told a little bit more. It was our 129F that was denied. When they sent our RFE, it gave us until October 2nd to get it back to them. I'm assuming they gave us until October 2nd because in our application, I explained to them that where Manuel lives does not have mail service. So, it is hard to get things back in a timely fashion.
We recently got in touch with our congressman to try to check on the status of our case.(Because it was outside of the processing time) They gave her a generic answer. They will not tell her why it was denied, just that it was. They say we will have to wait on the letter. But, that's okay. We will just do whatever we need to do to either refile or appeal.
One things Manuel did point out is that they needed our response by the 2nd of October. They did receive it on October 2nd. (We have signature and date/time) But, there system shows October 6, 2009. It would be nice if it was something that simple!!!
Again, thanks to everyone for everything !!!

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Manuel and I were denied today. We have no idea why. The only RFE we received was for an unsigned paper. Manuel signed the paper and we sent it back on time. Manuel has never been here, so no overstays. He has never been in trouble, neither one of us has ever been married, a very generic and uneventful application. (So we thought) USCIS says it can take 2 to 3 weeks to get the letter telling us why. We are going to appeal if necessary or reapply, whichever we need to do.
It is so frustrating after all of this time to get a denial. We are hoping it is some kind of clerical error.
Please keep us in your prayers and thanks for eveything all of you have done for us.

You've had no touches since you sent back your RFE response in September? I'd be writing a congressman, if you haven't already.
Originally we filed in April. Got an RFE. Manuel and I sent our RFE back on October 2nd. We hadn't heard anything either. We got in touch with our congressman within the last few days. The congressman's office checked into it, and today when I logged onto the USCIS website, we finally have a touch! I don't know if it was a coincidinky or not, but it sure doesn't hurt to to get in touch with your reps if you are outside of the processing timelines.
And I totally understand how hard it is too wait if you are close to the timelines. (Believe me, I understand) But if you are still that close to the average processing times, it should not be that much longer. (When we first started I checked everyday on USCIS website. Drove myself crazy.)
Good luck to everyone!

Thanks guys,
I appreciate all of the input. I guess we'll give it a few more days. I thought it kind of sounded like a generic response, too.
Good luck to all!!!

I was just wondering, our congressman checked into our case because it is past processing time frame.
The following is the response our congressman's office received from their inquiry about our I129F application... Is this just a generic answer given to all inquiries?
A review of the computer system shows that the petition is currently with an adjudicating officer for processing and the petitioner should be hearing shortly from this office. You are welcome to check status periodically.

Well... a small update...
Today I called USCIS and they actually said I should have had an answer by now. The customer service representative was really nice. She put me on hold, apologized, and then said they needed to do a service request inquiry. She gave me a confirmation number, then someone suggested I do a case status inquiry with my congressman, also. So, I followed through with both. Hopefully, we will hear something soon.
My prayers are with all of your guys!!!

Hang in there - each day is a small step forward to your life together.

Ryan,
I appreciate your words and I'm really sorry for your situation. It can get so frustrating !!! If only they would give us a straight answer, instead of a generic one. I think another of my gripes (here I go) is that the RFE they sent me said they had to have the paper back by October 2, 2009, no extention would be given. So, why were they in such a hurry to have it back, when it has just sat there for two months?(Okay I'm off my soapbox for now)But, if you decide to make that trip and sit in the office, let me know... the thought is kinda tempting
ALL WE WANT TO DO IS BE WITH THE PEOPLE WE LOVE !!!
You and Tatiana will be in my prayers, Ryan...
Hopefully, we'll both have good news soon.
Keep in touch,
Kathy

Thanks, William.
I'll make an infopass appointment if I haven't heard anything by Wednesday. I appreciate all of the info and links. I didn't know about infopass.
You are an angel

Processing RFE's can take time, but considerable time has indeed passed.
Do you have an online account with USCIS? If not, you should sign up, so that you can check case progress and avoid having to call.
Yes. I do have an account set up. But, one of the operators said that on rfe's, they only reply by mail-No updates on the website. I don't know. I've been told so many different things, that I don't know what to think anymore.
But, thanks for your help.

Manuel and I are trying to be patient. (Him more so than me) We originally filed our I129F on April 4,2009. In August, we received what I was assuming was an RFE, stating that Manuel did not sign one of the forms. Due to the demographics of his location, we did not get it mailed back until October 2, 2009. This was the last date to send it in and we do have the signature and time stamp proving USCIS received it on time. But, we still have not heard anything else about the application. When I call, all USCIS says is that they received it, and they always add 'call us back in a week if you have not heard anything.' It is 7 weeks. Still nothing.
I was getting kind of frustrated with the whole process and situation.
I went to visit Manuel two weeks ago, and I was thinking in terms of getting married there, and refiling for spouse visa. Fortunately, Manuel has managed to remain sane through all of this. 'Patience' he keeps saying.
Has anyone has a similar experience or any input into how much longer we might have to wait?
(Also, if any one notices that I have lost my mind during this process, will you please let me know and help me find it?)
Thanks!!!
