  1. So, I apologize but I really need as much information as possible

I know there are some guides to the AOS process, so if you could give me the links to those, that would be great!

One question I have first is when we go to get married, are there specific forms that we need when we go to the court house to get the marriage certificate? Do we need to report the marriage to USCIS somehow?

Once we are married, what is the next step to AOS? Does anyone know where a step by step guide is?

Also, does anyone know what the law is about someone from Thailand driving in the US?

  2. Visa in Hand! 07/01/09

    Thanks for all the help!

Yay! Flying her in this weekend, good luck to everyone in the process, keep the faith!

Could anyone point me in the direction of the next steps in the process for when she arrives? I normally take one step at a time so I need to start planning all of her paperwork stateside, any help is appreciated!

    Congrats!!

We just picked up our visa too. All set and ready to go. Other than she's still busy shopping and hasn't started to pack yet :o

Next steps are .... POE (Entering the US), get married within 90 days, and file AOS/AP/EAD.

There is info here in the VJ guides, and people that are just ahead of us in the process who can offer advice.

One thing I am planning to do today is to buy a temporary health insurance policy for her, for about 4 months.

This subject gets raised on VJ periodically but I'm amazes how little attention it seems to get.

I can't put her on my policy at work until we're married, and we won't marry until Sept.

Until then, she's uninsured unless I take steps to get coverage. Seems to me this should be MANDATORY advice for anyone arriving

in the US to start a new life and get established.

Very good advice about the insurance, as my benefits won't cover until I marry, although I hope to do that as soon as possible, it still will be a small gap of time where she is uncovered. I am going to check it out!

I just got her ticket, she flies in on the 4th of July!!! Funny thing, it was one of the cheapest flights available.

As far as her POE, I am happy to have it in Minneapolis, which is her final stop! Just wondering how difficult this is? Will they giver her any problems on entry?

  3. I am looking at buying a ticket for her to fly in on the 8th! I am insanely excited for that day! Haha!

It says on the US embassy website: 'If your case is approved, the visa will usually be issued for pickup in 2-3 business days.'

This puts the 3rd (Friday) out a day to far according to them and puts Wednesday right on track.

I am guessing it won't hurt for her to go on Wednesday and the worse would be them telling her that it's not ready until Friday.

Thanks for letting me know what your white paper says, maybe my fiance didn't read it closely or they write the wrong date...

    Thanks

  4. This is an important question. My fiance also got approved on the same day that scandal's fiance was approved.

She got the white slip and was told to return on Wednesday just the same as scandal's fiance. The problem is this, her slip says to return on July 3rd, Friday?!

So, at this point I have told my fiance to go and pick it up on the day they verbally told her, Wednesday.

Wondering what you think about this??? Is it normally two days? Why are they telling us two separate dates? What does scandal's white slip say?

  5. Hey everyone, my wife just got done with her K1 fiancé interview at the Thailand US Embassy. She had a relatively simple interview that was quick and then received a white slip and was asked to return on Wednesday. Does this mean a 100% approval at this point? I know I have to wait until the visa is in her hand to buy the ticket, and I will of course wait, but I just want to be able to take a deep breath and know she is good to go...any info?

  6. I posted these questions in the wrong thread so I will move them over here myself and edit the first question as I have found out more information.

Hello everyone, I have three questions:

    1) With the paperwork included with the i-134 I need to send the past three years of tax returns of myself and my co-sponsor, but can that be my tax returns or does it have to be in the 'transcript form' from the IRS?

(EDIT) --- Apparently, the Thailand consul does not accept co-sponsors. Which is a problem for me because I feel as if my personal income will not be enough. (unsure though, need to know how much I need) I also spent the last 6 months with my fiance, so I had no income while there. My last three tax returns show income, but just how much do they need to show?

    2) Because I was with her for the past 6 months, I have had no income while out of the country. So, my most recent pay stubs are from September of last year. This is also why I wanted a co-sponsor, because even with my income I felt I needed a co-sponsor to assure them. (but I can't use a co-sponsor) Would you recommend that I attach the pay stubs from before I left for my 6 month trip? I still am employed with the two companies that I was with before I left. I have multiple jobs, how do I state this on the i-134?

    3) When the interview date comes up, will it be a problem that I can not attend in person? I just returned from being with my fiancé for 6 months and won't have the finances available to fly there for the interview. Is it mandatory for me to be in attendance? Does this give them reason for denial?

Thanks for the help in advance!

  7. This is a serious problem for me then. I don't know if my income will be enough to get approved. Will they take notice to being out of the country for the past 6 months with her? Because I was making above the poverty level for the past 3 years. Even with being out of the country for 6 months I still made 16k last year. What should I do here?
